Welcome Sarah Jean, that's so cool that you can take advantage of those markdowns!
My frugal for the week was telling DH's coworker that I needed confirmation on how many mouserats he wanted. His father is the one paying for them. He told DH for me to tie 4 dozen but at a half hour each and being an expensive fly to tie plus the fact that I'de have had to order more supplies to fill that order I told DH I wanted confirmation from his father before I tied any....turns out he will buy 5, yup just 5 LOL
Also have another friend wanting to fill his fly box but is willing to take them a few at a time...no stress involved there and no extra supplies needed.
Unfrugal....I broke the 3 open boxes rule for the cereal...Jacob wanted raisen bran this morning.Oh well, if the others don't get finished in the next couple of days I'll just make treats with them as you would rice crispie treats. Then they'll get eaten.
Also not frugal, I put my plants out last week and I'm thinking I better get out there and direct seed because my plants aren't looking good at all. It's ok though as this year I'm pushing the envelope to see what I can get away with at what time of the year for future reference..all about the learning with plenty of seed left to do what I know will work....still have green beans and nasturtiums producing in the windowsills upstairs so all isn't lost.

Anna we have only had the AC on three times I think. It is cooling off at night. Looks like rain this week. Great! No watering the lawn and garden.
Sarah-Jean, wonderful!!! I have tried to figure out when our local market does the mark downs. They don't do it daily.
Anna, my dil got a job. If she can get one anyone can! I don't know if she will be able to keep it but this will be a great leaning opperturnity for her.
I think I am staying home today and cleaning house. Doing laundry.

Sarah Jean

Thanks for the conversion chart, now I can look up and see what a pence is instead of asking all the time because my memories is so short, LOL!

Gang

Dh just called and we are having weather allerts about a severe thunderstorm heading our way, glad I didn't put clothes out yet.. it's really black, chilly and gloomy out there so I'm logging off for awhile and turning the computer off and unplugging it (frugal today saving my computer) LOL! Catch up with you after bit.

Does anyone know if it is better for your computer to be turned off every night, or just on standby? I understand that Anna is unplugging yours as well, is this good for the pc? Frugal yesterday was using up some of our food from the freezer that was about to be outdated. Had wonderful bbq ribs, some carrots and potato salad for dinner. Used up some dinner rolls too. Have a great day e 1

Anna, that IS frugal! I know that before I leave for work I make sure the computer is off and the surge protector is ON! I should just unplug but don't. Hope that doesnt' ever bite me in the butt. I hope the storm isn't too severe Anna!

I'm at work and yet again, nothing to do. That and got my hands smacked for something I did as I was told to do but apparently they changed their mind and that was the wrong way. I'm 43 years old and this is beginning to tick me off. It's all I can do to bite my tongue. Okay, enough ragging about the job, am looking in the want ads diligently so we'll see.

Oh, forgot a frugal from last week. My cousins's daughter went thru her closet and drawers and gave us a huge lawn and leaf bag full of clothes for the girls to go thru. We kept half of them, the other are donating to the Ministerial Alliance here in town!

Below my signature are pics from the 30 Hour Famine! We had a great time. The kids built houses out of cardboard boxes and slept in them. The next morning some were standing (ours) some were not, we came back from our community service work and someone (Cliffzilla) had demolished our lovely house so there is a pic of my "Tribe" wailing over the destruction! Then there was Crab Soccer, one of the many games we had them play to promote unity, working together. A great time was had by everyone and they came away with the lesson intended, working together, doing without, fellowship!

Hugs,
Lisa

Well the storm passed by quickly and hopefully no more to come.. dh listens to the radio all day, I do not so he'll tell me in a few minutes when he calls home at lunch.

missibob

We normally go through the computer paces of turning off the computer, then flip the off switch to the power surger on the wall so I dont' think it's harmful to the computer and not only does it save on electric but it also prevents sneaky little virus's from coming into the PC at night. Our Anti Virus kicks on as soon as the computer powers up and runs a scan, same if the power goes off in a storm and comes back on. I don't think often about unplugging from the wall but have made it a habit of turning the power surger strip off so no electricity is being used, a little bit from the strip but not as much as leaving the computer, cable modem box, printer and monitor "on" all day and night.

More frugal... I have a wonderful fragrance oil Lime Cooler that no one but me likes. I put it in a empty cleaning bottle that had been well rinsed and sprayed it on the bath tub walls (not the shower walls but the sides of the bath tub where we have sub scoam build up). 5 minutes later I have a tub that looks brand new, yay!! and it smells divine in there, LOL! I have a very old cast iron tub (sigh not the old ones with the claw feet unfortunately).

Update: Had to respray some parts that the stubborn soap scum refused to leave, GRRR!!! Next time will mix it with baking soda so it sticks better to the sides and doesn't run down so fast.

Lisa

I meant to add... very nice photos of the kids at church.

Frugal for me?I decided to be lazy and stay home. The kids are out of school at 1:00 pm and then they will be home all summer long to drive me crazy.Today I am going to sign up whoever can at the main libary in town so that should keep them somewhat busy.Aslo the ymca is starting their 100 days of summer so I will be doing that again to get my free stuff.Oh and my middle dd will have swim practice tonight.Just need to keep them busy this afternoon.I am sure we will be ok somehow.

Hi, everyone!
I've been trying to catch up on posts again. Everyone here always has so much going on!

Welcome Sarah Jean!!

Anna--
Sorry to hear about all of the family issues going on. That's a lot to deal with.

Lisa--
Cool pics of the 30-hour famine project. I keep meaning to watch that movie too--one of these days...

Frugal here is the usual taking lunch and snacks to work. Haven't had to have the air on yet, which is wonderful. I was able to hang the sheets out on the line over the weekend. I actually had the weekend off from both jobs--my retail job tried to call me in when someone called in sick, but I decided that I really needed the "mental health" time to re-charge and be ready to go back at it all on Monday again. I think it was actually a good decision, as I feel much more energized again.

Have a great day, everyone! Looks like it's going to rain here, so I guess I won't have to worry about watering the garden--yay!

Jackie you made a very good point any time we have a situation change we need to check with our auto/home/medical/life insurance to see if it will be effected.

Frugal this morning was losing power for 45 min when the storm blew threw. Collected 7 gallons of rain water afterwards. I had shut down the kids computer and mine before the storm hit.

I have a partial load of laundry out on the line. DD1 was horified last week when the underwear was out so that is in the dryer for about 30 min. I want to get a drying rack that way I can put the underwear, etc. outside but it isn't on public view.

I made a gallon of Koolaid up in a cleaned milk jug as my contribution to the reception after the ballet recital tonight. Taking a pack of 60 cups that I had in the cupboard as well since I noticed the last reception we were scrounging around for them.

The a/c hasn't been on in several days but probably will be this evening as it's 81 out now and I've shut the windows.

The summer reading program starts today at the library, we will stop tomorrow and get registered. I stopped last night and picked up the summer movie program which starts next week and will get passes for that $5 per person for 10 movies at the theater.
