Scott Ultra Soft does not last nearly as long as regular Scott. It is less than half the size. I am not buying any more of that after this pack is gone because my plumbing really doesn't like it too well. It will have to be regular Scott around here.

We're Angel Soft users here. Charmin plugged up my sewer line. I don't like Scott.

Went to Aldi, spent about $50, then to buy a new gas cap for the minivan, almost $10. I'm done now, lol. Did put the child support check in the bank though.

Oh No Barbzy

I hope it doesn't do that to my plumbing... we have 1949 sewer pipes. I bought this brand because I had a coupon and was stocking up for emergency use. I should have enough Angel Soft to last through the weekend so I may just put this out in the shed for "official" emergency use and perhaps save a bucket with a lid to put the tissue in (with a trash liner of course) instead of the toilet if it appears to be a real problem.

Less Buying Less Waste

Our local waste management service says trash collection has been down as consumers buy less. Make sense and I guess it's one of the only good things about the recession.

Anna, its good something good is coming out of this recession. Maybe we can all learn something. I just laugh when I read about how frugal is in, never knowing it was out.
Added a couple of squirts of oil (I use olive) and some season salt to the plain cheap frozen fries. It really improved the taste. Also used a multigrain bread for grilled cheese sandwiches, it gave it a nice nutty flavor. They loved it here.
Love the tp comments; we go through a lot with 4 females and only 1 lone male. Unfortunately I get a skin rash from Scott and you have to be careful of the others with the plumbing. We always buy in bulk and when on sale.

Anna, maybe glue the ends of the box shut?
White Cloud for us.
I have done very little today except check colleges out online for the kids. And look for more patterns for mom pads. I need to come up with a name! All the neat ones are taken.

Bluebird, they don't sell white cloud around here. I used to be able to get it but not now.

Cau, good tip on the French fries! We'll have to try that.

Anna, I'm wondering if "less trash" doesn't ONLY mean "buying less." It might also mean "wasting less."

Frugal today was turning a roll recipe into a roll AND bread recipe. I like to make Amanda's pull-apart dinner rolls but for some reason I get SO much dough in the batch. Her recipe says 1 dozen but I get at least 18. So this time I made a dozen rolls and since we are out of loaf bread, I shaped the rest of the dough for a loaf of bread. This way if anyone wants toast in the morning, we'll be all set. (And this is a good roll recipe to make if you are pressed for time, because there is no rise after shaping. You just bake them right away. So it saves an hour!)

Howdy ladies.
Frugal today - went to bank to make deposit. Had to go pay health insurance. Went to library to return and pick up. I also went to Off. Depot, and got 2 ink cartridges. They were 2/$24, I had reward points for $21. So ink only cost $3!!!! I also got 3 coupons for $3 of the Lawn & Patio show. My friends are happy.
I have made all meals from home.

Anna - you were speaking of the patio show there and the attendance. I was reading in the paper the other day that small farms (5 acres or less - earning $1,000 or more) have increased 79% in the past couple years. People are really getting into healthy eating and organics. It also said that family gardens will increase drastically this year due to economy. I hope it really continues. I know our garden will be bigger than normal this year.
Well I hope you all have a safe and warm evening.

Good evening everyone. I didn't get to watch most of the first half but Oprah's show was very interesting today. It was having families do away with internet, computer, a lot of the toys and live on a budget on their groceries for a week. Anyway, I think it really showed them how much they were wasting and how much they had been missing out on being together as a family.

Frugal today has been having all meals at home. Its bitter cold here and we got more snow this morning so no school today.

Karen, I love the new picture.

We usually have the local store brand of tp or Angel soft here. It used to charmin but after they changed it I don't like it as good and it has gotten so expensive anyway.

Take care and stay safe.
Jean
