I had a great time with my friend Carla on Friday. We had a frugal lunch-grilled cheese & tomato soup(Lent). She is also frugal, also grew up that way. She is the same age as I am but her birthday is in July. We get along & think alike.

I had cake with my daughter-one she made. She took the Wilton decorating classes. We went to lunch on Saturday, to Olive Garden. We used gift cards, so no $$ except for tip. We had lots of leftovers which we ate for lunch today. We went to Target & got her contact solution, Target brand 2-12oz boxes together for $4.39. She also found hair dye for her, 2 boxes together for $6.38 on the clearence aisle. She knows how to find those bargains!!

We also stopped by Circuit City(both are by OG & we killed time waiting for our table) & it was sad to see it so bare. Very few cd's & dvd's left. They were good competition for Best Buy so there won't be as many bargains anymore. So sad..

good evening all!!

I am back to feeling fine, although I thought it best to avoid people at church today, so I stayed home.

I finishd all the regular laundry, got the rest of the floors mopped, etc., went to get newspapers and bread, and have been home all day.

Jamie, I always have those ice pops at home, just not always in the house, usually in the freezer in the garage. But last week early I had a taste for something after dinner, so pulled the last 3 in a box into the house. Just like the cranberry juice, I like the tart crisp taste of the lime Edy's Fruit and Juice bars. There must have been something in them that my body needed at that time.

Lisa, hope you got some one-on-one time with Megan. And I hope jean shopping was successful.

Well, the snow started about an hour ago. It is sticking to the ground, etc. for the moment. We will see how much there is in the morning.

Anna, I am betting that the new crystal air scents will end up being free with that initial $3 coupon. Also, I had coupons for a free bottle of Frank's hot sauce (straight to the food pantry with that), and CVS is selling the mini One touch for $14.99 and there is a $15 coupon. So that will be at least 4 more of those for the school. But the new Honey Comb cereal sounds interesting. I don't like cereal for breakfast, but they were always big enough, like snack-size. I can take a baggie to work with me. They are also advertising new whole-grain Krispies. I bet they are going to taste good too. I just don't like milk on them. Must be that "milk allergy" from my childhood raising it's head again.

Connie, whomever runs the food pantry is entitled to make whatever rules they want unless they are accepting state or federal funds to run it, and/or food to stock it with. Then they are constrained to follow whatever those rules are. That is why it is good to separate "church" and "state" sometimes. Indepently run ones are always the most liberal.

Ladies, I am going to go for this evening. I started my new afghan project and am feeling the need to crawl onto the couch and get with that for awhile.

Take care all!! Norma

I will remember that, Norma. I donate to the church panty in the city not the local one. lol I didnt know we had any food pantries.

I finished and sold a set of washable menstral pads Friday. I also recieved another order for washable panty liners. Found the pattern today and they are almost finished. That is money in our pocket. Selling on ebay is bringing in a little too. I felt very good when I put the money I made in a sad checking account. I am checking with my craft forums, what sells well on etsy. I am selling a handmade ( handstitched ) quilt top on ebay this week. I bought it for a song at a thrift store. I have done nothing with it so I am selling it.

I have conviced dh that we do not need to use the dryer! I am hanging laundry in the basement. We need to bring our electricy bill down.

Evening ladies Hope you are all well.

Frugal today - stayed home and all meals from home. IL's came by around 11:30 and brought BK burgers - so I served homemade ice cream. Nice free lunch. Mopped the kitchen floor, and cleaned all the door frames and doors inside - Grimey handprints sure so come up quick!
Dinner was sausage, cabbage, potatoes and onions. It was really good.
Talked to neice (long distance) on cell phone so no cost there. (same cell company)
Nothing exciting here today.
Have a great one.

Connie

That is wonderful that you sold the machine washable pads, I think you are definitely onto something there with everyone going green and trying to save money too.

And speaking of going green, we had our annual home and garden show this year and so far they have had 10,000 guests from what I heard on the news this afternoon and alot of people are interested in gardening this year to grown their own food and save money.

Anna, I'm glad the dentist is going to fix that filling free of charge. You're right--they should do that!

Connie, you could offer to tailor the pads in three shapes. The regular one we are used to in disposables and for heavy days use a fan shape like I described earlier in a post and for those of us who struggle with both monthlies and leakies out the bladder, a really long strip that goes from front to back for use every day.

Good morning all!!

Snow, snow and more snow today!! I was out between 5:15 and 6, 6:30-7:15 and then I had to go back out and turn the car off once I got to it, got it cleaned off and got it started to warm it up.

I got a phone call that there is a 2 hour delay starting work. I will still have to go back out and shovel again, as it has started up again. But this will be a breeze compared to the "big shovel" I just finished.

Frugal - shoveling for myself. No one has approached me that they would do it either - so I totally on my own. And the satisfaction that even though I am not the slimmest I ever was, or the youngest, that I can still do it, and do it well. I mean it is not the prettiest snow shoveling job, but it is done and I can get the car in and out. That is all that is important to me.

Also frugal - not turning the heat up from 62* until just now. I was so layered that I was not cold, and then I was overheated from being outside, so I still didn't need the heat, but now that I am starting to cool down, I turned it up.

Well ladies, better get started. I didn't comb my hair before I went out, better get that done, and get the work clothes out, figure out lunch, and prepare to get out the door.

Take care all!! Norma

bluebird - all the food pantries here in Anderson and Williamston, SC go on income guidelines. They have started giving away free food once a month to anyone who needs it, no proof required. It is either at the food pantry or at a church and they advertise it well in advance; normally the event is held on a Saturday. That has gone well and helps people who are just over the income guidelines.
