Kathy

Our heat is off today too, has been for a couple days... it's in the 70's here as well.

Mom2-4

Happy Birthday to you today, hope it's a good one.

We're eating from home today.

RobertaD

I have to mow this week too, hopefully the last time.

I have a blanket hanging outside on the clothesline today to dry, may rustle up some more clothes to hang out there instead of in the basement.

I have been working on year end evaluation of what we have sold and making some decisions on what we will sell and what to not make next year to sell.

Anna

Hi everyone! Haven't been on in a few days. Seems like life has been realy busy here.
Took a trip 85 mi. S of here yesterday to see "our" kids. It was a beautiful drive and a great visit. Stopped at the Amish store on the way down. They have many spices and cooking aids and also a salvage area. Did buy many canned goods (all brand names) for 25 and 35 cents each. !
No heat for past 4 days. Been in 60's and 70's.
We had over 400 kids for Halloween. It was crazy - probably because of warm weather.
Cooked breakfast at home today, lunch will be sandwiches, dinner will be chicken and something(?).
Going to do bed clothes today and hang out. (Still haven't used dryer since first of April) Also going to fix and clock that isn't working with parts from another that we don't use. Well, I'm going to go and straighten up the pantry and put away stuff I got yesterday.
Hope everyone has a great day

Morning all, no heat or AC on here this week so it should help the bills. Thanks for the reminder to be thankful for what we have and not down about what we don't. I think we all need to be reminded of that. This thread really helps me.

Dd#2 made breakfast this morning and will make dinner tonigh. We are having mstuffed flank steak, my mom used to make it all the time. It will bring back great memories for us all. I've been missing her alot lately.

Nothing to frugal here, almost done with my Christmas shopping and I have cut back. I've decided to focas on the fun stuff instead.

Kathy, thanks for the sweet compliment!

Pootersmommy, 400 kids! Wow!!! I'm happy to hear that you had a nice visit with your kids.

Coll, stuffed flank steak sounds good.

I didn't get my menu maid but I have stripped the sheets from my bed and they are in the washing machine. Went to WalMart to get ink for the printer, we were bone dry out and my ds didn't tell me, he's the one that's been using it lately for school work. Also picked up more paint, Kilz for the paneling that I'm painting over in the house, dd1's room, my room & bathroom and a gallon of outside concrete sealant paint, I used the whole gallon on my mom's porch and foundation. So you know what my plans are this week, painting mode again!

After that I went to Aldi, spent $88 and am disgusted with the little bit that I brought home! I did buy 2 container starters to grow my own basil and my own sage, marked down to $4, shoot the glass crocks they come in alone are worth that, they're lovely.

The girls helped bring the groceries in and put them away. They're now in their room eating the lunchable I did buy for them, one each and hopefully going to clean their room.

Gotta get off of here and get moving. Have a great day everyone.

Lisa

Happy Birthday, Mom2-4!! I hope your day turns out to be all you wish for!
Norma, I just wanted to say thank you earlier for the words of encouragement. It really meant a lot to me.
Wow, I thought I was all caught up on reading posts, and then when I got to the end there was November ahead! lol
I loved the pictures Lisa and Anna! Really darling costumes.
Paco, sorry it took me awhile to answer your question. For the sweet potato chips, I usually peel and thinly slice 8-12 potatoes. Spray a cookie sheet with cooking spray and layer the potatoes evenly. Spray them with cooking spray and salt and pepper them. Bake at 250*, stirring every 15-20 minutes until slightly browned. Store in an airtight container when cooled. They really shrink down, so it is good for using up a lot of potatoes!
Wow, Barb, good going on saving on all that printing. Sixty pages is practically a book! lol
Frugal this weekend was getting free underwear at Victoria's Secret at the mall yesterday. For some reason, they sent me two coupons. It worked out well since I needed them. Also, went to Christopher Banks as they had a 70% off sale on many items. I like them because they have great sales and the clothing is mostly modest and not too weird or anything. I spent twenty dollars on a skirt, blouse, and sweater. I still have some birthday money from this summer, and I am thinking about going back later to get a jacket that was on sale. I think I will take a few days to think on it.
Mish, have fun at the musical today!
Chris, how was the party? I am trying hard to picture you with big hair.
Take care my friends, and have a very nice Sunday.
Jamie.

A very happy birthday to mom2-4!

Jjoj, I'm saving your sweet potato recipe. Very soon my supermarket will have sweet potatoes on sale really cheap.

On the printing, I am SO glad I didn't bother printing all that out because as I guessed, I didn't need any of it! I only printed out the Excel spreadsheets of the treasurer's report, about 7 pages, and we did use those. I'd have been so mad if I'd wasted all that paper and ink for papers I didn't need to print.

Pootersmommy, WOW, 400 kids!! Do you usually see that many?

Well, I am so mad I could spit. 23 people showed up. 23 paid, my dad and his gf showed up,but dad refused to eat or make a donation but gf wanted a piece of cake. Yes I gave her a piece of cake. We did have two large donations so we made money. I also have four gallons of cooked spaghetti, eight gallons of sauce and a ton of bread in my freezer. I did have some help. A friend helped and her friend. The freinds freind is calling the radio station tomorrow and letting people know what she thinks about us not getting any support. I am hurt and embarassed. And tired and my feet hurt!

Happy Birthday to you Mom 2-4. I hope it was a special day.

I am not feeling well. My blood pressure pills have really got the better of me. The nurse said I would feel weak until my body got used to them and she sure was right. I really thought I was getting ready to pass out after church today. Hopefully, I will get leveled out soon.

Not much frugal today. I did cook rice and raisins for breakfast and toast for whoever wanted it. We ended up picking up burger and fries for lunch. We really haven't had supper but I guess everyone will have a sandwich, cereal or something to just fix easily.

Jacki, the grandbabies sound very adorable. Halloween should be so special for the little ones. I am glad they had a good time.

Pootersmommy, I can't even imagine that many kids. How many bags of candy did you have to buy?

Karen, way to go on canning the deer. Did you kill it yesterday?

Well I think I will go rest for a while. I hope everyone has a good night and a good start to your new week.
Jean
