Jean, I can relate to your "thankful heart" this morning. I had to remind myself to be thankful this afternoon instead of grumpy. Dh did work hard cutting out my counter to put in the new range and it is nice but I lost all the cabinets underneath the previous cooktop. So I have pots, pans and skillets all over the kitchen with no place to put them. He is also supposed to remove the old oven and the drawers beneath it and build new shelves there for my canned goods. Then the pots and pans go in the cabinets next to the range where the canned goods currently are. I wanted to look at shelving when we went to the hardware store for a gas line but he said one thing at a time. I haven't asked but I'm hoping he plans to work on the shelves tomorrow so my kitchen won't be a mess all week. But there I was in a messy kitchen trying to make room to cook dinner, dh asked what he had done wrong, he could tell by my mood. I kept my mouth shut as he wouldn't really understand. I thought back to a TV show I saw years ago where homeless families were given 2 weeks rent free in these trailers to help them out. It was the day for this one family to leave and the woman was asking if she could stay longer so she could clean. She was told no as they had people they paid to do that job. So I tried to change my attitude to grateful instead of grumpy that I have a kitchen and plenty food, etc. And you are so right, once you start thinking of things to be grateful for there are just so many you can't even list them all.

Our potluck at ds1's house last night was lots of fun. I brought a lasagna and so did dd1. She also brought salad. Dd2 brought garlic bread, I also brought 2 gallons of tea. Ds1's wife made Halloween decorated cupcakes. Ds2 came and ate but did not contribute. My 6 yo grandson was a Transformer, 2 yo granddaughter was a lady bug. 5 month old grandson was Eeyore (sp?) from Winnie The Pooh and 6 week old granddaughter was a witch. Must say 5 mo gs was the cutest with the ears going every which way and the fur on his head. After dinner we walked a couple blocks with the 3 older grandkids and 2 dd's and dd1's dh, my dh and I. Ds2's ex didn't bring his 3yo daughter over as we thought she would. Ds1 and dil didn't want to take the baby out since it was spitting rain. We came back and 6 yo gs has a great time handing out candy at their door and seeing some of his friends from school.

Time to go turn back some of the clocks. Have a great Sunday everyone.

I bet it will feel good to have the junk cars out of the drive and make a little cash to boot.

Yes, that is a mardi gras mask... my friend had given it to me a couple years ago and it's been in the closet since, it's very pretty. Dh laughed so hard when I came out with it on, we had alot of fun with it and the kids. And thanks everyone, Madyson truly is a sweetheart, such a friendly little girl.. we love her to pieces. Her parents and Grandparents have done a awesome job of raising her.

Today wasn't too frugal dh was hungry on our way to the mall so we stopped at McDonalds for lunch, it was a nice treat lunch for 2 was $10.00. We did have breakfast and dinner at home from the freezer. Tommorow will be a stay at home day, we're on our last roll of TP but instead of going out I'm walking next door to the gas station and buying a 4 pack till I go to the store Monday. I didn't notice till this am that they had given me the wrong dosage on my zocor, it's 40 mg and they gave me 20mg (my old prescription) so I called and they are going to give me a second bottle to make up the difference. They are so awesome to work with, well worth the little bit extra it cost instead of through the mail.

Connie

That's a shame you had to throw out the Angel Food cake mix, is there not a food bank in your area or a church that you could have donated it to?

RobertaD

My electric bill was down this past cycle too... $2 less per day without the AC and dh's oxygen machine, that's a substantial savings.

On our computer... we have the technician coming back out on Monday as dh thinks it is a loose cable and the guy didn't check it with the TV on to see that it isn't connecting good. We almost caved this morning and got the turbo booster, fastest you can get for $10 more a month but I said "No we'll wait".

Anna, that was a cool mask!

Glad everyone had a fun Halloween! Jacki, all your grandkids must have been adorable.

DH took the kids to his parents' yesterday while I was at a meeting and they came home with a big bag of candy--I guess MIL gave Luke all the candy that was left over after trick-or-treat. Like we needed more....

I zipped over to Wawa to get Big DS a hoagie for his hiking trip today, and we needed milk...DH has been drinking milk like CRAZY. This is our 3rd gallon this week; usually we only drink 2. I found half & half at Wawa for about $1 less a quart than ShopRite. Sam's is still cheaper but they don't always have it in stock. So I grabbed a quart of it for my coffee. Yum.

I have to make my menu plan today, and my shopping list.

Good morning all!!

Went to the WaWa and only got the papers and some milk. I am making a cheesecake today, and it calls for milk. That is my only grocery money spent for this week.

Barb, since WaWa is a "dairy", it should have better dairy prices. Not always though.

Not much else going on here. Coupon club business this afternoon after church, and then football!!

Take care all!! Norma

Getting ready to leave for Sunday School then Church will have leftovers for lunch when we get home.

Will probably get the grass mowed this afternoon since I'll have daycare kids T-TH. Then we need to do our confirmation homework for Thursday night.

Mom 2-4, to you!!!!

I'm the only one up, besides the cat and the dogs. The dogs are gonna get skinned if they don't stop barking at the squirrels! But, the squirrels ARE teasing them and throwing things at them so I guess I can't blame them too much.

Guess today I'll do a little grocery shopping at Aldi, they don't open till 9 so I'll have to wait a bit. I also plan on taking the Halloween decorations down, more cleaning (as always) and sit down to make my menu for the week, will do that before the shopping trip. I have laundry to finish as well.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Happy Birthday, Mom 2-4! I hope you have a wonderful day!

My big frugal today will be sorting through some clothes that DD1 cleaned out of her closet. I will take them to Plato's Closet tomorrow and see if I can make a little bit of money on them. Whatever they won't buy I will take to Goodwill. I will also cash my change in at the bank. I think I have about $20.00. That will be DH's spending money for the week.

Jean, thank you so much for reminding me to be grateful for all that I have. I was rather down in the dumps yesterday afternoon after paying all of our bills. I am afraid that we won't make it to the end of the month with DH's paycheck. When I talked to DH about it, he said not to worry we'll figure it all out. He also reminded me that there are people out there in much worse shape than we are. The mortgage is paid for the month, as well as all of the utilities, and there is quite a bit of food in the house. We'll be alright.

Jacki, it sound like you had a wonderful Halloween with your dgks.

Lisa, as always, you amaze me with all you get done in the course of a day!

DH and I are going to walk to the local grocery to get a newspaper. I'm only bringing $1.75 with me so we don't get tempted to buy anything else.

Today I will be updating my freezer and pantry inventory, doing a menu plan and shopping list.

Heat will continue to be off as we are to get up to 70 degrees again today. I have been able to keep it off for 3 or 4 days now!

I hope you all have a wonderful Sunday!

Kathy
