Oh, Lisa, that's wonderful that your new fridge is coming today! Are you excited for it to get there?
Anna, lol I have to chuckle a little about your chatty mailman and his bluetooth, although I'm sure it's an irritation for you. I just had a funny mental picture of it.
Frugal this afternoon was taking all the acorn squash from the garden and baking them. I pureed it all with cinnamon, butter, and honey and stored them in freezer bags in the freezer. Now I don't have to worry about whether they will go bad. I rinsed and am drying out the seeds to plant next year. Still keeping a/c and heat on off. I am working for a low electric bill this month.
Take care my friends, and have a fabulous weekend!

It's HERE! They said 1 to 5 delivery and they were in front of the house at 12:55! It's beautiful, if a refrigerator can be beautiful. I'm so excited, sad isn't it?

Jamie, I'm not much for squash but how you froze it makes me want to try it! You are such a busy bee!

As soon as the girls get home from school we're going to go ahead and go to the grocery store. I've been waiting for a week to go, we're out of a lot of stuff, cheese, turkey, lettuce, low on milk.

Well I'm going to go admire my new appliance, lol.

Have a great day all!

Lisa

MKS, Jasmine is my daughter, Stuie is her service dog, Gizmo is our little pekingese. Stuie is a peanut detector dog. He is trained to sniff out (really!) 11 different nuts seeds and peanuts.
Jamie what a neat idea about the acorn squash.
I would be excited too Lisa! Yeah, you deserve it.

Lisa glad you got your frig. I'm sure you'll feel "safer" knowing you have a great new one.

FRUGAL today; Went to bank and redid a couple CD's got 4.5% interest - pretty good around here. Paid health insureance - covered for another month!! Picked up a book from a friend, cleaned the garage quite a bit. Looks much better. Fed bird bread to birds and squirrels. They love it and it's cheaper than bird seed everyday!
Dinner will be leftover veggie soup. It should be even better tonight.
Need to go run a dust rag over everything.
Tested furnace this A.M. (just to make sure it still works). Ran for about 10 minutes and took the chill off. Don't plan to use for quite a while yet. No AC either YIPEE!

Take care and have a great evening!!

Cheryl--
I'm with you--so many soups and stews are better as leftovers when the flavors have had time to really "meld."

Lisa--
How exciting about the new fridge! I'd be thrilled too!

Frugal here today was sitting outside at lunch--no gas wasted. I have my grocery list ready for Aldi today, so that will be the only money spent, and I'm determined to stick to my list!

I couldn't get on this thread this morning either. After several tries, I gave up and got busy doing all the things on my to-do list for today.

Tonight is DD2's homecoming dance and I'm expecting a house full of teenagers any time now! I think I'm ready. I baked some peanut butter cup brownie muffins, filled the fridge with soda and made two strombolis. They are going out to dinner before the dance, but they will need something to tide them over.

Lisa, congratulations on the new fridge! I would be excited, too!

Darlene, I hope Maggie likes the store brand of dog food.

MKS, so sorry to hear about your husband's car. Hopefully the repairs won't be too expensive.

Jamie, your acorn squash sounds so yummy!

Well, it looks like DD2's friends are beginning to arrive so I better get a move on.

I hope you all have a wonderful evening.

Kathy

Today I had my for palm trees trimmed it is a yearly chore. They get loaded with beries and dried fronds. He does come every year at the same time.
When they were smaller we were able to trim them ourselves but in eightteen years do not want to risk Dh getting hurt.
I offered him cash and he took forty dollars off the bill. While he was here the man next door had a big tree taken down by his driveway. I am sure he got a good deal too since he has been turning everyone away that has approached him.

Cheryl congrats on all the veggies you canned from your small garden.

Kathy I hope your daughter has a nice time at the homecoming dance. My girls have theirs next Saturday. Like you I will have a house full of kids to get pictures taken.

Frugal today was getting all the recycables together to take to the drop off center tomorrow morning. No real dinner tonight I am the only one home.

Dh went to pick up our half of steer from the butcher. Can't wait to fill up my freezer with some hamburger, roast and steaks.

No air conditioner or heat here. Love the fall weather!!

Sueanne -great deal on the tree trimming. The guy that delivers our wood does the same thing. If I give him cash instead of a check he gives the cord of wood cheaper. Wood prices have really gone up sense gas prices went thru the roof.
