Good afternoon!
I'm so glad that Anna and David are doing okay! I agree that they are very clever at being resourceful. Oh, I didn't think about the breathing machine. Hopefully they can get hold of a generator. Scary thought. It sounds like the same storm that went through here yesterday afternoon. Almost the entire city of Louisville and parts of Indiana are out of electricity right now. They are working on getting back the most important places first-airports, schools, hospitals, etc., so it sounds like it will take a while for people to be restored. I am so thankful that we have power. My oldest is coming to bring his food, laundry, and himself over until he has power again, so busy here.
Frugal for today was making some muffins for breakfast tomorrow and picking cantaloupe from the garden.I am making a pan of lasagna and garlic bread for dinner tonight.
I feel so badly for the areas in Texas that were hard hit, too. Hopefully, these storms will come to an end soon!
Jean, I hope you're feeling better soon. Take good care of yourself!
Barb, that is so cute about you getting up early to bake your rolls. Glad that you remembered in time!
Take care my friends, and God bless!
Jamie.

Northwest Illinois & Northwest Indiana were hit with a lot of flooding due to Ike. I lucked out, my pumps never stopped but we did not flood. A lot of streets were closed and the Kankakee river crests wednesday so I'm crrosssing my fingers.

Colleen, I'll keep my fingers crossed too. I've crossed I-57 at the Kankakee River countless times including when it's been water right at the concrete, scary stuff! I can't imagine living so close to it that you have to worry about the flooding. My brother lives in an area up in the suburbs of Chicago that floods easily, he's ok, there's water up to the end of the drive though.

Jean, I hope the antibiotics do the trick, I know you haven't been feeling well.

Barb, I'm curious too, did anyone get up?

Jacki, I was like that when I got divorced, did what I want, whenever, got up to watch TV at 2 am because I could without getting nagged at!

Ladies, I went to the mailbox today and my settlement check was there. God always provides, I didn't expect the check till next week! It's safely in the bank. I did go and get my hair cut, and it's short. I had to, there were no rhyme or reason to layers she did have in my hair, none were even so I told the beautician at Mastercuts, cut it all off. I had been trying to let it grow out, oh well. It looks cute, I'll have to take a pic and update my profile I guess, lol!

Did an Aldi run while I was out, $113 but truly stocked up, went to the post office, went to WalMart for shampoo and conditioner, they had our kind on sale. My last treat for the day will be taking the girls out for supper. My guess is they'll pick Cracker Barrel or Bob Evans, I'll let you know what they come up with, lol.

I'm off to put the last of the groceries away and run the vacuum. Will attack the younger girls' room tomorrow, I'll definitely have the time.

Hugs,
Lisa

Parts of my area, NW Indiana are flooded. Munster about 40 mins away had 700 houses that had to be evacuated due to the Calumet River. We had 8in here in Lowell, had two more calls from the police, one telling us to stay off the streets & watch for flooded streets & one asking for people to fill sandbags by a creek in the downtown area. Most of the flooding here in Lowell is by the small creeks & lakes & by the Kankakee River. My subdivision isn't by any of those so other than driving on streets by them, I'm ok. My sump pump has been going like crazy(bi-level). It did stop raining last night but is raining again today.

Lisa, what is the settlement for? I started reading this thread about 3 mons ago.

Thanks for the kind words about the Rebuilding. I am not skilled like the plumbers, electricians etc. but I could still help & make a difference. And the people were truly in need.

Not real sure what Anna & David will do about his breathing machine. But on a funny note she said they were stoked up pretty well on things except TP! Going to the store to get some.

According to the paper, NW Indiana got more rain that Houston. One area got 10.48in. The meteorologist said Houston just got Ike but we got Tropical Storm Lowell off the Pacific Northwest, then Ike rainfall & then a cold front. Steady rain until 4:30 Sunday. People had to be rescued by boats because their houses had 2 feet of water & streets were completely flooded over. I 80/94 closed in Indiana due to levee break of Little Calumet River. A lot of schools were closed.

We had 65-70 mph winds yesterday there are 300,000 homes without power according to the tv, saying will be days before all have power and phones.

Froze a bag of green beans and tomatoe sauce this morning. That will probably be the last of the green beans and tomatoes for the freezer will eat the rest fresh since they are slowing down.

Picked the last of the corn (2nd picking) DH laughed at me and asked why did I bother. I cut the corn off the 10 mini cobs and got 2 cups so that will be part of tomorrows dinner.

Have a couple of limbs that will need to be cut down due to the wind damage.
