Happy September! I'm so ready to Fall! Love the cooler weather and football...

Karen: Your DH did a good job on the gate.

We don't have plans today, we did all our stuff yesterday, so I'm going to make a Walgreens run to pick up a few things and finish planning out my menu for the week.

Lisa: Have fun at the fair today.

Well, off to switch out some laundry and hang up. Have a great holiday everyone!

Lisa, hugs, I hope you can work everything out.
We were up and out of here early to go to a huge auction. Our plan was to work Stuie and have some fun. What a huge disappointment! This auction has three rings and goes into the wee hours of the morning, normaly. At 11:30 I am home. Dh stayed up there to bid on a few items but the kids and I came home. There was nothing. It is fun just to look at all the antique dishes and furntiure. Nothing but a lot of junk.
Harelychic, don't forget that vinager kills germs too!
Karen love the gates!
I don't know what I will do with the rest of the day. Maybe declutter? Dh found a house we all love so now we need to find a job to go with it! This house has three apartments to rent out. I really want out of here.
Yesterday I made spag sauce, about 33 cups.

Connie,The sauce sounds heavelny.
Lisa,Have fun at the fair.
Karen,The gate looks very nice.
Frugal for me?Well dh looked over his suit coats and didn't need a new one.His one was snug and it was starting to rip so that might get mended.I took the older 2 kids with me.I did my wm run and got dog treats and also some pop tarts for the kids. Then we went to JcPennys and I spent about 15.00 with tax for a pair of pjs for my middle dd.We even got them in a bigger size so they would last longer.I am making my oldest to wait for some more sales for the jeans that she will need.Today we are home for the rest of the day.I am also busy with wedding the garden up too.
Mish
Oh and I was taking care of the checkbook too and that was just so much fun

Good Afternoon Everyone

It's been a quiet day here. I made a batch of soap, hung up a load of clothes to dry outside, went to the bank and deposited my check, then went to Krogers to get the slimfast and dh added potato salad to the list and I happened to find sugar free ice cream bars that weren't on our list but not too bad overall. I had shredded wheat cereal for late breakfast/early lunch dh had 2 pieces of that leftover fish for lunch, 2 pieces left. We are making vegetarian hot dogs with chili sauce and chopped onions for dinner along with corn on the cob and vegetarian baked beans all food that's been hanging out in our pantry and fridge.

Boggz

Your dh was very creative in making that gate, awesome job! and better for the environment when we can use what we have instead of something new that cost a tree it's life ( tree hunger here, LOL).

Connie

That's awesome on the spaghetti sauce too... I have a huge basket of apples calling my name and still haven't made that jam (sigh) gotta do that today as dh needs it for the morning meal.

Well ladies, for now I'm off to take a nap. Take care and keep up the good work.

Anna

Harleychic

Thanks for the vinegar tip... I just found icky stuff under my bath mat when I went to rearrange it. I cleaned it as best I could with a sponge and shampoo but it's needing something a bit stronger so next store trip I'll buy vinegar. I have a tiny bit here now but keep it close bye for soap making emergencies... thank god I have never had to use it but it's there if I need it. When working with lye it can splatter or valcano on you and vinegar neutralizes it immediately so I always keep it close to hand when I'm making my soaps.

Vinegar is also great if you are working with hot peppers such as jelapenos or haberneros, again it neutralizes the "hot" oils in them. I always rinse my hands especially under my fingernails after cutting up hot peppers with vinegar. It even works if you get the pepper oil on your contacts, saved me having to buy a new set of contacts one time.

Good afternoon!
Very nice, Karen. Your front porch looks so pretty and inviting.
Great tips on vinegar! It is supposed to be good as a disinfectant for cuts also.
Today has been a laid back sort of day. We have some meat and veggies set out to grill a little later and I've just been sitting on the porch swing looking at magazines and listening to ds's Johnny Cash and Marty Robbins songs.
Take care and have a lovely day!

We're back, we walked all around the fair, got the free stuff that the agencies put out, they got a Saluki dog fan, the SIU mascot is the Saluki, each girl got a fan, we got pencils, a magnet, they got those black rubber bracelet that says Not Even Once, not sure why there, nail files. This is the last day of the fair so the good stuff is gone like combs, toothbrushes, etc. I asked the girls if they wanted to ride the rides and none of them wanted to! They wanted the free goodies and were ready to go home. We then drove around to go to where they had the food set up and people were parked a good mile away, the girls said, "NO!" So we turned away and went to McDonalds, the younger girls played in the play area and my dd1 and I sat and chatted. They were thrilled with their day and that's all I wanted, them to have a good time.

Frugal tonight will be making supper at home with what we have. I'm going to recouperate here, read a few magazines before I set to make supper and hopefully clean out my room.

Hope you all have a lovely holiday, again!

Lisa

Hi Ladies! I love all the frugal tips you have given us. Karen, I love the gate. Your DH did a great job. Lisa, the fair sounds like fun. Good exercise and of course, the freebies. I just love freebies! Harleychic, that's a good idea about the vinegar. I'll have to try it.

Have a happy Labor Day everybody!

I use 1/2c vinegar & 1/2c baking soda to clean my drains. When it stops sizzling you pour boiling water down the drain. Less toxic & cheaper than regular drain cleaner.
I also make my own glass cleaner using 1/4 c vinegar, 1/2 tsp liquid dish soap & 2 c of water in a spray bottle. I even reused an old spray bottle from glass cleaner!! A lot cheaper & does a great job.
