Mish

I too am sorry to hear you didn't find any good bargains at Goodwill, sometimes it's like that... I can hardly believe it the few times I've walked out of there empty handed.

Anna

Jamie, I got a smile from your make up comment. I used to wear make up to work everyday, I think I look much better in it. Dh does not like make up so I agreed not to wear it on days off, now every day is a day off for me! I was just thinking a couple days ago that it's been a long time since I bought any and 9 months since I worked so I know all of the opened stuff needs to be tossed out.

Norma, glad you were able to finish those hats for the kids before cold weather, as the others said, that is very generous and kind of you.

Anna, another good tip from you on keeping some cooked meat in the freezer, I do that occasionally but just because I have leftovers, not because it was planned for emergencies. I have always heard you should keep batteries in the frig to extend their life and take them out of the camera too when not in use as this seems to extend them.

Roberta, I hope you have a good trip this weekend. I have only been to Pigeon Forge once three years ago. We were visiting NC and SIL wanted to go to Dollywood, I really enjoyed it.

Jean, I didn't know about all those other things to do in Pigeon Forge. We had to drive there and back in one day from Charlotte, NC so didn't have time for anything else. I'd love to go back again, driving through the Smokey Mountains was gorgeous. How far do you live from Dollywood, I recall you going there last year?

We did have a nice little getaway to the coast for three days. I was even frugal on the way back as I needed to grocery shop so instead of waiting until today as planned I went yesterday as we came through the city. It was cheaper and the store down there that I like had much better sales than the one I have access to up here. They had a bunch of the GM/Betty Crocker items for $2.50 and if you bought 10 they took $10 off, so $1.50 each, yeah! Then they had DM canned veggies and tomatoes for $1 each and they took off $4 when you bought 10. I also had a $6 off $60 coupon I received in the mail. We did get Chinese take out to bring home and warm up during the football game. I was exhausted after we unpacked and put the groceries away etc. and I considered the money spent on take out part of the vacation money.

Now it's back to being frugal so I can afford another little trip to the ocean in January. The CA coast is neat in the winter, we usually take the trailer and stay in a campground right on the ocean front for a week and do most of our cooking in the trailer. Some day trips but mostly just walking on the beach, reading, playing games, etc. Lots of relaxing.

I went and had blood drawn this morning and stopped at the PO but no money spent. Came home and washed sheets and the electric blanket and hung them on the line. Skipped breakfast since it was a fasting blood draw, that was frugal, one less meal today. We have enough leftover Chinese for another meal tonight which is good as dh called to say he might be late. One guy is on vacation this week and another didn't show up for work so there's lots to do and not enough time to get it done. OT right after a vacation is always welcome. Tomorrow I'm going over to dd2's house to watch the 4 1/2 month old grandson while she gets her hair cut. On Thursday she and the inlaws fly to IL for her dh's graduation from Navy boot camp. Okay now I'm off to reserve some books on the library website, I have lots of books here I could read but nothing I WANT to read right now.

Good evening all!!

Gardenlady, I pm'd that hat pattern to you.

Roberta, hope you have a relaxing trip.

Jackie, and jjoj, I refuse to put on make-up on Saturdays. I have to on workdays, and I do for church on Sunday, but I would really rather not. And I don't use much - a little eyeliner, mascara, and some blush. That's it.

Mish, so sorry you didn't score anything at Goodwill. But that is the way it goes, feast or famine.

I am making chili right now for the Friday night dinner with my sister and our friend. I will make a pan of corn bread to go with that. I want it to sit in the fridge for a few days so the flavors will meld together. I think it is always better that way. I will also put it over orzo, as our friend shouldn't have white rice.

I am trying to make breakfast for dinner at least one night a week. This week it was Sunday. I just fried eggs, and heated buttered rolls on the griddle, and made an open-faced sandwich from them. The bread got just a tad crispy and was really good.

Well ladies, better go for now. I haven't had dinner yet, and am making spaghetti.

Take care all!! Norma

Norma, chili sounds delicious!

Mish, I went in and out of Goodwill last week, didn't find anything I was looking for.

It's cooler here now, I believe we're to get down to 49F here tonight. I've closed all the windows in the house, will not put the heat on, nope!

Supper tonight is clean out the fridge as the new one will be here Thurs. I have mending that needs to be done but I'll be hanged if I can motivate myself to do it, isn't that awful? I'm at my best in the morning, will sit down and mend after I drop the girls off at school.

Went to work, former work, got my vacation and severance pay, that is now in the bank, pd my mortgage payment, went out for lunch with my mom, then back home to attack the laundry. All the bedding that has been washed and folded away.

Gonna get off of here, finish the dishes and watch dancing with the stars.

TTFN my friends, have a wonderful night.

Lisa

Aww thanks but I am really ok with not getting something at Goodwill.I think alot of it is the time of day I am getting there at plus the parking lot was full too.
I am with you Jamie,Norma and Jacki. If I am at home and doing stuff around the house then I don't wear make up.I even have had my oldest not wearing any on some days as she knows she is wasting it otherwise.
Jacki,Your vacation sounded like alot of fun.Way to go on the deals at the store too.
Lisa,Way to go on putting the money in the bank where it should be.
Norma,Breakfast for dinner 1 time a week is a good thing to have. But that is my opion.
Frugal for me?Tonight we had sloppy joes and I was getting creative and used up some of the hot dog buns. All the tvs are being used up and that is ok for now.I have some laundry to fold and start up too.I am hoping tommorrow will be a frugal day too.Oh and Lisa I finally have enough tops for the pepsi.I sure hope I can get my free shirit without running into too many problemns.
