Good Morning Everyone and again welcome to our newest series.

Frugal Today? Buying more stuff for my candle/soaping business. A fellow member is moving to NC this coming week and unloading a bunch of her stuff. I was able to get 50 lotion bottles for a very, very cheap price and a bunch of free stuff including some mister bottles that I was going to have to purchase for a special birthday gift order. I'll probably go over tonight after work and pick it up ( she lives in my neighborhood so no gas will be wasted.)

I made the big pot of ham and beans last night I used turkey ham instead of regular ham. So we have quick meals for this weekend. I'll make cornbread tonight to go with it.

Happy Friday everyone.

Anna

Good Morning everyone! It's going to be around 78 or 80 here today. I'm working in the yard maybe catch some rays.

Maybe I'll even walk to the store. I need a lime.

I got some paint stripper yesterday so I can start on my project this morning. I'm going to refinish a telephone table, I found it at a garage sale a long time ago.

Already started the laundry, I don't have a clothes line so I'm stuck with the dryer. But on the up side I don't have as much to wash since my daughter moved to her own apt. a couple of weeks ago. She loves it, it's real cute. She's only about 3 miles from us. That makes me happy. Kind of feels like she's still here since she is so close.

So it's just dh and me, very weird always have had kids around.

Lorimae, I know what you mean. I felt like that when my oldest ds moved out. Will be very wierd when youngest ds goes to college in a couple of years. Neither one of us have very talkative personalities. One time, I went downstairs to use the computer and didn't realize he was there. We both screamed and scared each other nearly to death. lol We are pretty close, though. I am close to my oldest also, and still see him often.
Barb, that recipe sounds delicious! I was getting hungry just reading about everyone's meals yesterday.
Frugal today will be doing my grocery list and menu for next Friday's shopping trip. Also, I plan to do some baking this afternoon. Take care, everyone, and have a fun and relaxing weekend!

Hi everyone,

Just trying to continue the usual staying out of the stores and cooking from what I have already on hand. Tonight is our weekly dinner out (probably). We usually combine it with a grocery shopping trip because we have to travel to the next town. I also worked on my shopping list last night, looking through the sale flyer for inspiration.

Last weekend DH was feeling under the weather, so we ended up not going out to eat at all -- and I still have money in my wallet! Hooray!

Hello, Everyone!!!

I haven't been on here in a very long time. I have been extremely busy. My mother just recently lost her sight, we don't know if its permanent because its from Diabetes caused Cataracts. The only problem is that my mother has no insurance and hadn't gone to the doctor in about 20 yrs, and so she now is paying out of pocket for doctors visits and meds and for an eye exam. In order to determine if her cataracts are removable, she needs to be seen at a specialist and they can't see her for another month. It's already been a month of her losing her sight and she still refuses to eat right and her sugar is still high, but you can't talk sense to my mother, she thinks that she can continue to do what she wants and God will protect her from harm.

So, I've been taking her to the doctors appt.'s, grocery shopping, etc. and trying to get her to listen and take care of herself but she is set in her mind that nothing will happen, depsite being unable to see. I am going to be buying her some blind adaptive equipment tomorrow like a talking caller I.D. and Clock so she'll know th etime and that I called her. I'm gonna get her a talking watch for Mother's Day.

Also, my daughter Lea was reunited with her father 2 wks ago. She hasn't seen him since she was 2 yrs old, (absent father). She spent last weekend with him and his mother. So, I've been taking her to see him and to see her cousins and other relatives. So, we've been pretty busy for all types of reasons.

We've been shopping thrift mostly, and shopping at discount food stores, like Save-A-Lot and buying things on sale, but because pre-cataracts my mother would spend, spend, spend, I would also spend alot more than I needed too buying unnecessary things. I did have to start renting a computer. My comptuer died, I bought one at the thrift store that lasted 3 months and that crashed, so, that's my luxury expense. Other than that I am trying to watch what I spend, esp. with gas prices the way they are. But, yard sale time is here, though is cold today, and I'm excited about that. I've also been decluttering.

I'm also trying to cook more, because my mother would order food three meals per day when we were around her, I got into the habit of stopping at the fast food restaurants too. But, I am trying to cook more at home. What's funny is that Lea's dad and his mother think I can't cook, like when he and I were together when I was 20/21 yrs old. Of course I can cook, but when we go to visit her dad, they have been teaching her to cook so she can, 'show me'-haha! They have no ideal that I bake, can veggies and jellies, and cook, though I am STILL low carb. They should know that people change.

Besides cleaning the house right now, I am cooking down a pork roast to make bbq sandwiches today, Lea's with a bun, mine with lettuce cups. And I'm making a lasanga.

Anyway, that's my update. I hope to continue to get on here, if time permits.

leasmom it sounds like you have a lot on your plate. I'm so sorry to hear about your Mom. I have a son with low vision. He isn't blind but, his vision is compromised. Sometime they can be so stubborn about getting the help that they need. So, I know where you are coming from. Take care of yourself to. If you can find a few spare minutes.

Lizzie-boo, Sounds like we have the same money saving strategy. I just try to stay home. It's the safest place for the money in my wallet! Today, will be a shopping day though. My DS has every other Friday off so, today we will combine rides and do our shopping together. I hope we don't get each other into financial trouble!

OSI sounds like you got some real deals.

Well, frugal today was making a pot of coffee and filling the carafe Thermos with the coffee instead of leaving the heat on the coffee pot on. Next, I'll share a shopping trip to town with DSis and combine our efforts. DH will be putting up the clothes line today! Whoohoo.

Have a saving day everyone!
