I just got a call from our attorney and the probate case is closed! The title will be transferred into my dh's name within the next 7 days so what a relief that is. After the first of the year, we'll file a survivorship deed, etc. and have it put in both our names. Our truck will be paid off in April so that's when we'll start shopping for contractors and loans to start building.
Glad everyone is starting to get notices again... Ajrsmom works quick, huh?

Glad to see you back online but what is Red Bank stick candy? Is that a brand?
I have bought from a company in Pa. Dutch Valley something boxes of stick candy for very cheap prices.

Hi, everyone! Seems like you can almost FEEL some Christmas excitement going on here at FC !!
Not so frugal was getting my washer fixed for the SECOND time in two weeks. But at least it was fixable.
Frugal for me has been the usual here: cold water laundry (when the washer is working!), bringing lunch to work, making dinner at home, staying out of the stores..plus I got gas just before the price jumped 10 cents here, so that was good.
It's snowing here--they're predicting up to 6 inches, but we'll see !
All for now--have a great day, and stay warm, everyone!
Snow storms are due for central Ohio tonight too . We are stocked up on everything essential... food, snacks, toilet paper, will perk my coffee tonight and put it in a thermos so if we have another power failure I'll have coffee. And of course, we have lots of candles. The only thing missing is I don't have a big supply of books to read but I do have a couple. I can always crochet or sew when I'm bored too. We have one of those tiny portable tv's Casio that runs by batteries so we can keep up to date on what's happening around town.
Stay warm and safe everyone.

Barb - I know that in my office, we have a rule about coming in sick - don't. Apparently I got to the doctor just in time to get medicine just before the worst of the symptoms broke out.
I will have to make a ShopRite run on Saturday, even though I don't do my regular shopping until Sunday. It is my understanding that Tutturosa pasta sauce is free after a doubled $.50 coupon. I have 5 or 6 of them, and even though I don't use this, it will go to the food bank. I will look for the Herbal Essences shampoo/conditioners packaged together and see if I can capitalize on the deal you got.
And if you got any of the Malt-O-Meal cereal coupons a couple weeks back, ShopRite will have them on sale this coming week for $.99, free after a doubled $.50 coupon. I have 12 coupons, so I see a lot of cereal here for a little while.
Anna - I was kept busy this afternoon crocheting a really cute snowman bib. My co-worker who is currently ivign with her son, daughter-in-law and grandchild, will get this as a gift she can give the grandbaby.
We keep getting downgraded as far as the amount of snow heading our way. I think that sleet and freezing rain are jsut as dangerous as snow. Sometimes, you can't see it on the roads, and it weighs the tree limbs down.
Frugal today, was leftover chicken soup (can't hurt), and eating from the freezer this evening. Also, I didn't buy any of the yarn for that bib. Just used some scraps.
Well ladies, take care, stay warm, we'll get through this storm too.
My son in law brought me some beautiful venison yesterday. I fried it with onions tonight. Tender and tasty.
Tomorrow I'll add whats left to the roast beef and make a hearty beef stew. Sounds good for a snowy day.
Tomorrow I'll pick up my DD and we have to have bloodwork done. I hope it's not freezing rain. I can handle the snow, I've got 4 wheel drive.
Frugal today also was putting papers and scraps of cardboard in a bag for the wood burner. It all burns and gives off heat. If I had old tires, I'd put them in to burn too. LOL

Maryann - the tires would burn but they also would stink! :0
They were predicting sleet and 3-5 inches of snow here. However the warm weather went higher so we received sleet, snow flurries and rain. It is icy tonight so will see if they call off schools in am.
I had to go to the store for milk as we always run out on Thursdays for some reason. I don't like going when they call for snow as everyone is out. I came home and unloaded and was on my way back out to complete my shopping for my nieces when it started sleeting so I just stayed home til time to pick up children.

LOL, Robin, I thought it was only here in the Philly area that people run out for milk, bread & eggs right before a snow! (I think there's a lot of French toast served on those snowy mornings!)
Norma, I wish I had thought of the tuttoroso sauce....I have a few coupons for that too. I don't use jar sauce here but when I see it on a good sale & I have coupons I pick it up for the food pantry. Thanks for the heads-up on the cereal. I have plenty of coupons for that and my kids eat a LOT of cereal. They especially like the Malt-o-Meal version of "Frosted Mini Wheats." They can have all of THAT they want--it's much better than anything containing marshmallows, IMO!
Are you feeling better yet, Norma?
The snow is coming down HARD here. I better put on some shoes and grab the newspaper before it gets buried
Good morning! More ice than snow here, I think, but very cold!
BoggsZ, it looks like you got some great recipes for sugar cookies! I am not very good at making those, but I do have a great Scottish shortbread recipe if you would like it:
4 sticks of butter, NO substitutes
1 cup sugar
5 cups sifted flour
Mash butter just until soft, and cream in the sugar. Add flour and blend in one cup at a time. using hands. divide into two eight inch circles and place in UNgreased cake pans or a cookie sheet. Crimp edges with a floured fork. Score like a pie, into twelve triangles per circle. Prick the surface of the dough all over and cover with waxed paper. Chill two hrs. or overnight. Bake at 325* for 40 min. Sprinkle with sugar and cut into wedges. Store in an airtight container up to three weeks or three months in freezer. A lot of butter, but they are to die for. Probably because of all the butter, of course. LOL Take care and I hope everyone stays safe and warm today!
We got lots of snow last night and in the wee hours this morning we had really heavy winds that shook our house. It isn't too bad today though, got into work just fine.
Frugal last night? Made dinner at home and made more of the hard tack candy, this time in Peppermint flavor. Brought some in again today to share with my co workers and saved some back to fill tins for Christmas gifts.
This weekend will be working on filling probably one of my last big candle orders of the year as we're getting close to Christmas. Will be going to the candle store tommorow to pick up fragrances and jars. Blackberry w/ Vanilla and Smoke Eliminator. I have a order for several of those potpouri holder things I made this summer. Yesterday I brought in a bag of my Ohio Weathermen I had made up since last winter and sold them all . Great little gifts to give as a stocking stuffer.
We will be making a big batch of chili this weekend and may also make a big batch of Chicken and Dumplings.
