Cheese refrigerated in oil should be OK as cheese is a cooked & not raw product. The raw garlic can get airborne botulisim when growing/harvesting & that's what causes the trouble when packed in oil.

That stinks!! Ours lets us use the coupons, but, there is a limited dollar amt for coupons. Which I am not sure yet how much. If the coupon amt. goes over a certain $ amt. the coupons will not be honored for their amt.

Our WalMart is going through a remodel also. No clue why, as it is only a little over 6 years old! I guess they are making room for the Subway that is going in there. Just what we need in our area another Subway. You would think that three within a five mile radius would be plenty! I guess they are spaced just far enough apart to get enough of business from surrounding towns.

Our WalMart is terrible. When it first opened it was great. Then we changed managers. This one is just terrible. First off they didnt' build a large enough store. Gee, look at a map, this town draws from three states! Now that we have the SUPER WM.... with this manager....bad.... The only people that I know that love WM are the ones up to their ears in debt. The truely frugal ones try to stay out of WM. We have Sunmart and Walmart for groceries. Thank goodness I live outside of town close to a tiny town with a homeowned grocery. I buy most of my groceries there.

Last night dh saw an elder from the church we left in June. Jim said no one would mind if we came back, we are missed so much. Gregg pointed out what Pastor and Youth Leader had done and nothing has been said to us about it. Jim was dissapointed that we won't be back. Gee, IF everyone is so sad about us leaving, you would think the Pastor would speak to us, huh? It is so sad.....

Went to CVS (mine will take coupons on sale items but if it is BOGOF you can only use one coupon) & Kroger saved 45% using sales, coupons, and store brands.

Took a box of items to DD1's school for their fundraiser garage sale. DD1's school is collecting money to go to the Katrina fund, each grade is competing against the other to see which class has the most. I donated two Gund bears to a group that was sending new toys to the children that lost their homes in Katrina.

DD2's pre-school asked for donations of snacks and I was upset about the response that I saw. Two families sent in 1 package of popcorn each. I pulled a juice bottle, box of cereal, package of popcorn, napkins, dixie cups from our stock and sent in.

Finally got all the paperwork together and returned to see about getting medical cards for the kids and possibly us. I hope to hear the positive next week about that.

Good news job wise for DH he was offered a 4 week 40 hr job paying $15 an hour which has a slight chance of becoming full time.

Good evenign all!!

We don't have a CVS close enough to go to.

But the Rite Aid had one fragrance on sale for $2.39 (1/2 price), so it was only $.39 per bottle. And on the other 12 oz. bottles, there is free after rebate sticker, so I will get the full $4.79 back, even though I used a $2 coupon.

I got dentyne gum for a great price also. Most flavors were 2/$1.00 I had 3 $1.00/2 coupons, so I got 6 for just tax. Then I picked up 14 more. I had one B1g1 coupon, 4 $1/3 coupons.

Then I stopped at market that was supposed to have Ban deodorant for $1. It was really $1.50 if you had a store card. This store is just too far to be bothered with getting a card.

At the doctor's office, I found out I don't need any corrective surgey, and my blood stuff is all just fine. Hooray!!!

Then I stopped at the pet store to use my free 4 lb. bag of cat food coupon. I also went to the produce market to pick up a few items for a salad for tomorrow at the boss' bbq.

Then I was bad, I stopped at Subway for a sandwich.

After I got home I was called by the security dept. at Amex. Apparently when those hackers got into the "secure" credit card companies, they lifted my credit card number too. Someone tried to buy a $2,800 computer today with my card number. We canceled the card. I got her name, and then called the number on the back of my credit card and asked for the woman who called me. Sounded like the same person to me.

But there is always a glitch. I had ordered 3 items from Amazon.com. They don't charge your card until the item ships. I got one of the 3 items already. But the other 2 were not scheduled to ship until the end of this month. And I only got free shipping because I ordered over $25 worth in the kitchen dept.

So I called. The guy canceled the order, and I had to re-order with a new card. He promised free shipping, since this is not my fault. I got his name too.

What a trip. Anyway, I am beat. Gotta go!!

Take care all!! Norma

Hello, everyone!
Unfrugal today is that we had a meeting over in Indiana and had to spend money on gas. It does seem to be going down a bit, I noticed. Frugal was stopping at an Eddy Bauer outlet on the way back and buying a pair of jeans for ds and jeans and khaki pants for dh for 9.99 each. They had a 70% off sale. Well, time for me to go to bed. Will look forward to talking to you all tomorrow. Take care!

Anna - will be thinking of you and your husband as you go thru the final days.

I was called in to do a taste test for today. I got there and they were surprised that everyone they scheduled showed up as they overbook. since I was one of t he last ones I did get my $8.00 and got to go home. But I was planning on that being my lunch.

Good morning all!!

The weather is cool, the sun is coming up, it looks to be a great day.

Ericka - I forgot to tell you that I think you are getting great deals, especially on that cereal.

I have a lot of crocheting to do, to get ready for the 10/15 Octoberfest in the park. And I have a lot of organizing to do to get ready for the City-wide yard sale, date unknown. But I want to be prepared.

Well ladies, better go for now, and get started.

Take care all!! Norma

Frugal today:
FINALLY clipping the coupons that I've had sitting on my desk for the last week! Also, I got a return package ready to go for a book I've decided not to keep that I mail ordered. I will mail that either today or Monday. I also searched for the library books and magazines that I need to return--that will be frugal since I will avoid paying late fees!
Hope everyone is having a nice weekend!

beckanoah and bluebird you apparently have very bad management at your WalMarts.
These things shoud be reported to the main office in Bentonville,AR. Anyone who has problems like you both have described should report these things. Call 1-800-walmart.
Beckanoah I certainly did not mean to imply that you are a bad customer. I'm very sorry if I gave that impression.
I have worked at two different WalMarts. At present I am at a hugh super-center.
Our management takes back everything customers bring in. We have even gotten stuff in our return carts that we don't even sell. Stuff from Shop-Ko!! We who work on the floor don't understand how they could have even taken it back when it wouldn't have showed up in our system.
Shoes that are so worn out they are falling apart. Customer claims he only had them a couple of weeks. No way!!!
If any of us acted like the employees you mentioned, we would be fired on the spot.
We are always being told the customer is always right even if he isn't.
It has been that way at both stores I have worked at.
Top management does make a difference how a store is run. And I am sure there is a lot of bad management out there.
So beckanoah now that you have explained what it is truly like at your store, I certainly understand how you feel. You are right to be complaining. Yes, Sam Walton would be doing flip flops in his grave.
