Hello,

Some quick ?s about the vinegar. Is it white vinegar? Does it leave a vinegar smell to your towels/clothes/sheets? How much do you put in a large to regular size load? I have never used it before and would like to try it.

We ate at home all day. The kids packed their lunches for Day Camp as usual without any money to buy snacks or extra drinks. I packed my lunch for work tonight as I have been doing for the last year or so. I have been saving $100/month by doing this. Yeah! There has not been an increase in the grocery bill, since I started packing my lunch. I eat leftovers or quick ready to eat meals.

Have a great day everyone!

Andrea

well not much frugal here today..mom paid for my horse to get shoes, and that cost her 52 for both my app and dd dun pony, but she did pay it for me. only because she likes pistol..lol..

other than that..not much else..eating from the pantry, i took mom a box of things yesterday and gave them to her for feeding the kids when they wont come back over to my palce to eat..makes it cheeper for her.
stayed home and kept track of my electric usage today, im up to almost 110 for this next month. i want to keep it under 140 if i can..thats my goal. and ive ran my c a/c all month. so thats a thing too. im hopeing that i wont have to run it all summer. thats a goal too. i have alot of goals..just never seem to reach them.lol.

well all i guess im going to go and watch a movie at home. talk at you all later. have a good day
ericka

ps i like the change. i think it looks nice.

Andrea, I use white vinegar, about 1/3 cup to a very large load of wash. I put it in the fabric softener dispenser in my machine. Others use a "Downy ball."
I find that if I dryer-dry, or hang outside to dry, I don't smell the vinegar. But if it's a rainy day and I have hung the clothes in the basement to dry, the kids notice the vinegar smell: "Mom, why do my clothes smell like potato chips?"
I especially recommend it for towels.

Norma, I have a "Bash & Chop" too but I mostly use it as a dough divider and bench scraper. Have you used it to chop vegetables/onions?

What gadgets do I have that I don't use: regular blender, food processor (used only about twice a year), citrus sectioner thing, pickle picker.
DH once got me an ice cream maker. We used it twice and then I gave it away. It wasn't worth the trouble.

What weird & unusual gadget do I have that I can't live without: my dough whisk. I use it in place of a regular whisk, to mix cake batters and to do bread dough.

Frugal for me today

Hi Everyone
It has been nearly 2 months since I have been on, am happy to be back on.

Needed to return to SD 2 different times due to deaths in the family. Came back and immediately started planting my garden.

All my veggies are doing good, but the strawberries are very slow in coming up. Had planted nearly 50 strawberry plants, maybe they are slow in growing ?

Today picked some small beets along with the greens and I steamed them for supper. Used up left over egg salad ( from sandwiches) and added 2 baked chopped up potatoes to it, therefore having potato salad. Used onion tops for the potato salad too.

Last sunday evening we had a horrible thunderstorm , hail with 69 mile an hour wind with down pour of rain which totaled an inch &1/2. Happy about the moisture but can do without the wind and hail. No damage to buildings or windows so that was good.

Keep cool everyone, we also use air-conditioning, closing up the house early in the day and closing shades / curtains. Yesterday was 102 here but today once again the temp has come way down it's tolerable.

Have a good evening all.

Joy

We use a swamp cooler around here. Just a fan, with wet strawlike stuff. It works okay, I suppose. Keeps it bearable.

Where was Spring? First of May we had 3 8" storms, and now 95degrees. Ick

I didn't know it either. DS wanted me to take him to cash in his change, our bank will change it for free as long as you have an account with them. So I told him I would take him, but he had to pump gas for me. He said I don't know how, and besides, I am not old enough. I laughed at him!!! Boy, did I feel like a fool, at the gas pump, there is a sign that you must be 16 to pump gas!!!

Yes, the kids are enjoying the pool! I enjoyed it on Tuesday. I plan to enjoy it tomorrow(Friday). The temps are to get into the high 80s!! I've noticed that the water temp seems to be so much warmer at night when we clean it out! Seems like some night swimming might be in my future!!

I mean the legal driving age in PA is 16, they have to have their learner's permit for 6 months before being able to go for their liscence. So it is not like kids under 16 will be getting gas all on there own.
It's the same in Wisconsin. I found out when I let my 14-year old nephew fill the tank for me. Not sure what the reasoning is for that law

Karen,

Dh and I were just talking about making the daycare bigger. We would only do this though if we were really desperate! One I dont have a large house and dh would not really be happy doing it!

I almost had an unfrugal time at the library, I had renewed my books over the phone which I often do if I know I wont get there in time. For whatever reason they did not get renewed well I had so much out by the time I did return my fine was 10.00! However the librarian was very sweet and removed them for me!

Had fun at my mils ate well, and the boys enjoyed playing with their older cousins. (11, and 17).
Gadgets I dont use hmmm I got a food processer for Xmas so far everytime I have tried to use, well lets just say it isnt pretty. I also had 2 gadgets from Pampered Chef that went in my garage sale. A cut and seal thats supposed to make crustless sandwhiches. Used once. Also a measuring cup that you can do both liquids and solids. They both sold wonder how long those people will use. lol I do like my garlic press use it often! Also Anna sent me a rice cooker a long time ago on the trade/swap, I no longer use much for rice but steam veggies in it all the time!
