Hi,everyone!
Anna, I am so sorry about your mil. That's got to be really hard. ((hugs)) Will be praying for you and your family this week.
mom2-4, great job on the coupons. Free is always nice!
Frugal today is having the air off and making dinner in the crockpot. I did have to drive ds into Louisville so I also returned library books and picked up some cheese on sale at Kroger for 2.50 a lb.
Sharon, thanks so much for the info. on the planets. I will make sure to be watching for that. Take care, ladies, and have a restful evening.

I noticed the site moving slower for me lately, but I have it bookmarked & am able to get here from that with no problems so far.

Our state has several evacuees coming in also - it's awesome how everyone is pulling together. Remember the media will report what gets attention - & lots of times that is the bad stuff over the good.

Frugal today: washed clothes in cold water & line dried them. I love doing that. I also made chicken quesadillas from the leftover chicken I had frozen. I had gotten several meals off that - I had bought a package of chicken breasts with bones & skin for about $5 on sale.

I also made homemade pizza for supper. I don't usually cook twice in one day but hubby is off for a few days. Gee, guess that's frugal considering gas prices.

We've also been doing some finishing work from remodeling. We had someone build some cabinets for a pantry & we've sanded, stained, painted, polyurethaned & tiled. I think we saved a ton & it looks great!!

Today was ds first day of Pre-K, frugal was walking him lol. I didnt cry which surprised me! I think it made it easy because he didnt cry either. I am very grateful that my mil is so generous by paying for Evans school todays bill was 201.00! That was for the deposit, registration fee and this months classes.

Vickilyn, Very sorry to hear of the passing of your sil. Thoughts and prayers are with you and your dh.

I have not had to run the air in awhile as its been pleasant out. Evan and I both wore a jacket on the way to school this morning.
Baked our dinner in the toaster oven rather than turning on the big one, I suppose thats turns out frugal.

Anna, Sorry to hear your mil is in so much pain, I hope that they get her comfortable again very soon.
I have heard that coffee will be going up as well, I also took a walk with Josh in the stroller and bought a couple of cans of Chase Sanborne coffee 34oz for 3.49. Also heard in the news today that 1,000 people from Katrina will be relocated in the Cleveland, Columbus and Akron area.

Barb, Thats a great thing your group is doing!

Karen, Sounds like your doing good so far on your shopping list. We do live in a walking community good thing josh is in a stroller, can get more done if I have a way to transport it, saves a lot on gas and we can enjoy the air!

Time to get the kids ready for bed. Have a good night.

Good going on the do it yourself projects, dh and I try to do that whenever possible... not just to save money but because we just don't have it to throw around most of the time. Things are going to get even tighter while I'm off work taking care of my mil, we just don't know what's ahead yet... scary financially. My company will let me continue to just pay my insurance as usual ( dh and I have single plans, saves us about $35.00 a week versus family plan since we don't have children).

Lee

Thanks for the warm wishes and I pray mil's is out of her pain soon. She is taking both methadone and deladid and it just isn't touching the pain, so unfair when she's been such a good, giving, loving person her whole life.

Anyways, enough of the sad stuff... we will make it through.

I heard on the news tonight Columbus, Ohio is taking in 1000 of the folks from New Orleans out at Rickenbacher Air Force Base where I guess theres a hotel for sevicemen. Our churches and the local community are gathering up everything they might need... clothes, medications, diapers, etc. to take out there.

I also heard Walmart is going to try to give first priority to getting jobs to the folks of New Orleans.

America is a beautiful, generous people and we will get through this tragedy and persevere.

God Bless America and it's people.

Anna

Good morning all!

Frugal yesterday was staying put, crocheting, finishing up those baby blankets, going back to the one I was working on before I got that order, eating at home.
I had made turkey stew over the weekend, and it was just fine for dinner, and a microwaved omelet with cheese sandwich for lunch.

I tried to get my aunt in Florida with my yearly offer that if one of those hurricanes comes her and they need to get out, come to me. I only have a one bedroom house, but we could make do. If worse came to worse, I could sleep at another aunt's house up here for awhile, or my sister's house. I am especially concerned because it looks like Ophelia might make for her part of the state. She lives in Jacksonville and has survived several bad ones over the years. And now she is older.

Other than that, not too much going on.

Well ladies, got to go for now.

Take care all!! Norma

Thank you, everyone for your warm thoughts and prayers. The family is slowly returning to a new kind of "normal". We're actually spending less on gas now that we're not making all the extra trips to hospice. Anna, sorry to hear your MIL is in pain. The only thing that worked for SIL's pain was morphine.

Lee, glad to hear you & Evan did well on his first day of school. Today is Ethan's 2nd day - hopefully it'll be better than his first.

Well, the ragweed is flying in Wisconsin. So, I've started to use the dryer instead of the clothesline. Not exactly frugal, but keeps me from sneezing my head-off!

Frugal last night was convincing DH NOT to stop for donuts when we were in town. (I know him, he would have come out with $25 worth of junk-food!). So I guess I'll reward him by baking something today.

VickiLynn--So sorry to hear about your SIL. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

Anna--I wish I had something to say to ease what you are going through with your MIL, but I just don't know what it would be. Hang in there, and I'll be holding good thoughts for you here!
Joesbaby--Just thought I'd let you know I've been keeping up with reading your blog and am really enjoying it! You've been getting lots of good deals! Way to go!

Gas came down here by just a few cents, which is good, and I'm trying so hard to use less gas!

Have a great Wednesday! We're already halfway through the week!

Hello everyone.

Anna and VickiLynn, my prayers are with both of you.

Well I have to stay home now. The Kia is in the shop and DH has to use my van to go to school and work. They say it will be done this Friday. We shall see.

Gas is up to 2.95 a gallon and suppose to go higher. It took 45.65 to fill the van up and I don't think it will last until we ge the Kia back. It gets really rancid gas milage.

We don't nned to use the AC for most of the day so that is frugal. It doesn't get to hot until after 3 now. Very chilly in the mornings too. Hope we don't have to use the heater to soon.

Have a great day all.

I've been combining all errands personal & business with taking the kids to & from school to save on gas which is down to $2.99. I'm sitting on half a tank so waiting to see if the price will drop some more before filling up.
Took DH's car in yesterday to get a 2nd opinion on the $1200 estimate from 3 weeks ago. I called today to see what they found out and they said it was ready for pickup. They found a loose filter that was hitting the wheel and rattling, NO CHARGE. Good customer relations as they knew we had taken it to the dealer first so now we will be giving the second company our business and they are in town too. DH called the manufacturer to complain about the dealer.

The tomatoes have slacked off thank goodness we can eat them to keep up but have a new round of green tomatoes on the vines. I helped my Mom pick pears off her tree so now I have a bag of pears to cook & freeze as we wont eat them all before they go bad.

Nothing else going on besides cold water wash, brewing tea and rolling cigs for DH, DH taking coffee and sandwiches to work.

Roberta
