Anna, I keep a big old towel in my car to spread over Luke's booster seat, on the hot days. It really helps. You could do the same with your steering wheel. Then when you get back in the truck the wheel will be cooler.

Anna, I am sorry about yout MIL and can only wish that there were something we could do. (((((((Anna)))))))

Beckanoah, I don't know what part of NM are have been in, but I am wondering what th TXfree weekends are. What things are taxfree and who is allowed the tax breaks? I've still got to buy lined notebook paper, and a few other schools supplies for myself.

I finally got some medication for my headache after driving all over town. The up side is that we are learning where everything in Las Cruses is. The down side is that we wased a TON of gas and I felt very bad by the time we got it. I am feeling better now, it's just taking time.

I have to get a few groceries tonight for my new little place. I have been trying to think about I may need BEFORE I need it at the last minute. Incidents like this are definately NOT frugal. This morning DH had to use my weird non-sugar sweetener (Stevia) because his (Slenda) wasn't already packed into trailer. I also went to the "What have you got in your pantry" thread because I knew that there might be things there. (I did pack my Kalamata Olvies, capers, tomato paste, and anchovies from Carlsbad because I KNOW DH won't need them. lol) Also, a new member here at FC lives here and has told where to go for good deals. I plan on checking them out this evening when we get groceries. I'll get me a couple of packages of pinot beans. Those are always a great and frugal standby.

Erika, I continue to pray for your family. To be honest--you and your DH have been on my mind lately. I have no idea why that is so. I pray that things get better for you. I am impressed at how frugal you are and how well you magically manage money. I have also read your blog (I hope that is what it is called) and find you to be one impressive lady.

Frugal for dinner tonight is using the carcass of a leftover chicken and noodle to make dinner noodle soup for dinner. I've got some leftover French bread to serve with it.

We did the library thing this morning, DD2 is happy she choose a giggle stick as her prize.

Used our passes at the pool this afternoon.

Went to McDonald's for dessert and used coupons for free ice cream cones that DD1 had gotten at school.

Stopped at the grocery on the way home from McD's for milk and walked out with just milk. At this point the only thing that I might buy this weekend would be fresh fruit and milk for next week while it is on sale.

DeBora, this is all the information I could find.

Friday through Sunday August 5th through 7th, "Back to School Tax-Free Holiday".

It is VOLUNTARY for retailers, and if they choose not to participate they can.

NONTAX Items include

Clothing and footwear of 100.00 or less. School supplies such as pens and paper used in a classroom setting. Computers of 1,000 or less, and computer equipment of 500.00 or less. Price can is on each individual item and not the total purchased.

Complete list of items found at www.state.nm.us/tax or call 505-827=0908.

I know Las Cruses has the college there, so there will probably be participation down there.

Good luck!

We don't have tax free days here. I have been buying the school supply deals when I can.

Cooked the entire package of chicken breasts and then froze some for those quick meals. Using tomato and cabbage for meals that were given to me. As I am going to an out of town wedding and won't be back until Tuesday I gave my leftover vegatables to a friend. I know DH will not use them up and don't want them to go to waste.

Hmm, that tax free seems interesting. I guess PA would not participate, as our clothing is not taxed, anyway.

But, while on the subject of school shopping. I would like to remind even those without kids, that now is the time to stock up on pens, pencils, paper, glue and tape. As these items seem to be rather inexpensive right now. My kids love the retractable pencils. I got two packs for $4 at Kmart. When I got to the check out they were not ringing up at the sale price. Luckily the lady knew they were on sale, and got the sale price for me. But, my point is that these pencils are normally $5 for one pack. I think I will go back and get two more packs before the end of the week.

Becky, thanks for sharing your work at home stuff. I was just curious. As I too work from home. I do strickly typing though, it is for a printing company. So, for the most part mine is a 24 hr turn around, so I have to drive there every night, which isn't bad only 20 mins per night round trip. But, they are sending most of our work overseas, and I will have to think of something else to do soon, I think.

I ran out of cigs. yesterday, and had to run to the store for some. When I was there I found reduced carts. I got a blender for $9.50. DD burned ours up last summer, and I was putting off buying one at full price, and I don't see them at the thrift store, and don't use if very often, so I was happy to find one for $9.50. I also bought other items from the reduced cart. Unnecessary items, like those darn gushers for the kids!! Wish I had had my coupons with, as than they would have been nearly free.

Unfrugal will be getting DS's birthday cake. He is turning sweet 16!! My little baby boy!! He does not really care for regular cake, so I splurge and get him and his sister an ice cream cake for their birthdays. Which hers is on Monday, so that will be two ice cream cakes in one weekend. The frugal thing about it is that the ice cream cakes always get completely eaten.

Good morning all!!

I have been having a lot of problems with my computer getting on here to post.

Not a lot of frugalness going on here. Just eating from the fridge and freezer, and the tomatoes from the garden. The ac has been on almost constantly because of the temps. The rain the other night was good for the plants, but I hated the lightning. Wicked!!

Well, I have to go and "water" the outdoor plants as we are expected to be in the 90's again today. But I have some more grass clippings from my boyfriend's yard to put down around the tomato plants to keep them perky, and well fed, and keep the moisture in the ground. So I better go get to it - yes, at 6:00 a.m., before I get a shower and get ready for work.

New Jersey doesn't have a tax-free weekend either - but Pennsylvania does, and while I know it includes computers, and software. But New Jersey doesn't have tax on clothes and shoes.

Got to go - take care all!!

Good Morning Everyone

Again, thanks for all your support it does mean alot. My mil is always saying I should do things for myself too. I've just gotten so ingrained to thinking about other peoples wants and needs, I truly believe it's better to give than receive. Dh and I will be trying to find time to go to the Ohio State Fair depending on what our bonus checks are, they've kept us all on pins and needles waiting past the due date. We need to get new tires for our car we bought earlier this year, oil changes in both vehicles so that will set us back about $400.00 but it has to be done since we are using 2 vehicles all week now. Gas here yesterday was $2.29 a gallon ! I only put 5 gallons in my truck, enough to run the rest of the work week and hopefully prices will go back down.

Erica

Good job on all the buys again, you are really getting the hang of it. On your blog, you may want to check out frugal living at yahoo.com groups... they cover everything there, really really busy site! Last year they even covered burying grampa on your own property ( his wishes). It was interesting, a little out of the norm nowadays but legal where it was at.

Well better go for now... take care everyone.

Anna

Good morning!
Redcardinalbird, have a nice time at the wedding and have a safe trip!
Ericka, way to go on your savings! That's awesome!
Roberta, good job on just walking out of the store with milk. That is so hard to do sometimes.
Frugal for today was chopping a bag of onions that I forgot about in the pantry. I put them in a freezer bag in the freezer. Also, I boiled hamburger to have on hand in the freezer in freezer bags. Unfrugal/frugal was that we forgot about the yearly car insurance being due in August. Ouch! Frugal was that there was enough in our savings can to cover it so we didn't need to dip into our savings acct. I am so thankful that we had enough to do that. I like having that paid all at one time even though it's a pain-one less bill to have to keep track of. Other than that, just stretching things out and organizing until I shop tomorrow. Take care everyone, and have a wonderful Thursday!

Frugal here lately has been using up meat from the freezer and eating meals at home or bringing meals from home to work. The garden veggies are starting to come in, so that puts a dent in the grocery bill too. I skipped my usual weekly Aldi's run this week--figured I could stretch what's in the house for another week. So far, so good! Free entertaiment the other day was bringing lunch from home and going to the park. It's amazing how relaxing that can be!
Guess that's about it! Hope all is well with all of you!
