Good Eveniing All!

We just had a 5 minute rain/hail storm. Not enough hail to do any damage, but I could hear it hit the air conditioner outside.

I am hoping to go out just before dark to spread some mulch around the tomatoes - the plants are drying up without any rain.

Barb - like Anna said, if she has a wrapper, then she will know what kind of yarn it is that she is using, and the color. A lot of yarns these days say "No Dye Lot" which means that they have perfected the dying so well that they guarantee the color will match.

Frugal today was taking lunch, and then having more leftover pork and sauerkraut for dinner. This is just something I don't mind eating. And of course, there was a tomato salad with bleu cheese dressing.

Well ladies, got to go, it sounds like more thunder, and there will surely be a little lightning and somor more rain to follow.

Take care all!! Norma

The big frugal today was getting our refinancing papers signed & notarized will get them mailed back tomorrow. We are now locked into a 5.5% fixed 15 yr loan, wasn't sure they would do it with DH out of work since April. The company sent info on locking in the rate with a no fee refinance as we were on a variable rate paying slightly more before, we have never been late on a payment and until he quit I was paying extra each month on principle so that was in our favor.

Did two loads of laundry, dishes, brewed tea, rolled cigs, ate leftovers for lunch.

DH saw a mouse today when he came out of the bathroom got one in the trap so far. Boy, I hope there aren't more now have to find out where it came in at.

My shopping trip on 8-1I found out last night that the kroger store 35 miles a way was haveing a 10/$10 sale. I also thougth this particular kroger has double coupons to .50 everything else is doubled to $1.00. That thougth made my mind race.

I was planning my shopping trip for 3 days. I planned on walking away with a large amount of groceries for a small amount of money. And with enough planning i could do that too. I had already determined i could get pizza rolls, tolit paper and toothpaste. my goal? under $175.00 for at least 2x that amount. One of the really good deals? half gallons of milk 10/$10. thats 5 gals of milk, and that will last my family 5 days. if i could get 20 cartons and freeze it for later, that would be good too.

it took almost an hour to do the shopping plus the hour to go thru the coupons and make a plan. about an hour to drive there and back. plus the 45 minutes to put it all away. How did i do.....well lets see.

I got some things free or almost free...like cottenell bath tissue, 3 boxes of electrosal tabs for $2 each, yoplait yougurt for .30 each, lunchables for free, and totinois pizza rolls for under .50 a box.

The final tally? coupon and kroger savings of $173.11, total food amount spent $172. 17, for 169 items. In addition i also got 2 $1 coupons to use towards school supplies, and a catalina for $1 off canned chicken. Total amount of all groceries $345.28.

plus today my son started football so i have to start taking snacky things for that. and getting him lots of gatoraid. so that will be fun. hope everyon is having as good of day as i am.

talk at you all later.

dang..sorry for the double posts..but i also did go to walmart, and they were asking for donations to the schools supply funds..once he saw our girls with us tho, he said, " you probly have your hands full enough all ready without having to buy for others too." and that he was sorry for bothering us. i told the girls we could spend $2 on the poorer children, and we got 3 notebooks, 5pks of crayons, 2 pks of glue sticks with the paint sample thing, and a pack of pencils for them. then my girls were very proud to walk over to him and donate for themselfs. it was a good thing.and made us feel good too.

Yesterday's Frugal/Unfrugal: Hid a jar of coffee cream from myself, Yikes! So drove cpl. blocks up the street to Family Dollar instead of the mile to Giant Eagle, Aldi's was already closed when I realized I couldn't find it. Dh suggested later I look in the deep freezer but forgot when we got home to check.

I also hung clothes outside to dry yesterday, did the same again this morning. Yesterday's high was 101 I think? Today more of the same.

We also called the funeral home yesterday to get rates on mil's upcoming funeral, that sounds so weird but we need to be prepared. They will be sending the info. to us in the next cpl. days. We will be prepaying for this next week. She is steadily getting worse, they started her on Methadone yesterday along with Progesterone (sp?) a steroid to reduce the swelling in her liver also a anti depressant. She is still mobile and coherant but the pain is increasing so hopefully this will help. The nurse will be coming out daily for the next 5 days to monitor her reaction to this.

Well that's about it for now. Take care everyone.

Joesbaby

Way to go on the coupon stragedy!

Erika, Good job on the grocery shopping!

Todays frugal cooking in the crockpot doing coldwater wash and hanging some to dry however still not hanging outside....Like Anna said its supposed to be yet another hot humid day. Running the air yet again yet still keeping at 78 79 degrees.

My one daycare girl has some sort of rash all over, has been to the dr its not contagious but she is supposed to stay out of the sun so since I knew this yesterday have indoor activities planned for them (play doh, a video and puzzles set out for them to put together) Its hard though because Josh wants to do what they are! I have to admit though not to upset they need to stay in its just to darn hot out there!

Lauri, I cleaned out the "Junk" drawers yesterday, it doesnt take long for them to become that way does it?

Yesterday went to a consignment around the corner from me, maybe its just me but I found the kid clothes to be on the expensive side for being kid clothes just because its Gap they were asking on average 8.00 to 15.00 a shirt thats crazy! If you check the clearance racks in the Gap you can get brand new for less than that! I think I will start keeping an eye on the Target ads I have had no problem with their clothes! Wish they had lay a way. Have any of you been shopping at Kmart lately? A couple of friends have gone there and both said it seems to be changing to the good. May also have to make a trip there.
Hope everyone has a happy frugal hump day!

Good morning, everyone! Frugal today is staying inside, also. I have been making freezer meals all morning and sorting through the freezer. This way, it will be more organized after shopping on Friday. Also, I'm making more tea. We have been going through lots of that.
Lee, I think K-mart either is or has merged with Sears. Not sure, but I think that I read that somewhere.
Anna, hope you find your creamer! I guess it will be a nice surprise to find later. lol I have done that with chocolate before.
Lauri, that's a great idea for the ham. It sounds like it will make a lot of nice meals. Well, take care and I'll talk to you all later!

Sorry about the MIL OSI. It must be difficult for you.

Way to go Erika! I wish I had your talent for saving THAT much. I will have DH look for last Sunday's paper while he's out having keys made.

Well, we went to Pecos, TX to give DHs parents some things and then headed to Las Cruses yesterday. Then, we got halfway to El Paso when DH realized that he left the keys to the trailer at home! We had to drive back and get them. Of course, it was getting late by then, so we had to get more gas and grab some fast food. NOT FRUGAL! We made it to Las Cruses and DH is about to get those keys made so we'll both have a copy and spares.

I've been emailing SuzyNM who has given me some great tips on where to go to save money. After some planning, we will get some groceries for the trailer. I also have a migrain that is gathering up momentum. Waiting for the doctor's office to call in something. My doctor is out of town, so no telling when that will happen.
