One of the books tells how to make an outhouse! LOL I am NOT that frugal.

Linda, where did you find your labels? I am looking for some for my jelly..... I can't even find the plain round ones in the store.

Connie, here is a list of the sites with free labels that I use.
http://alenkasprintables.com/
http://rainbowrowgraphics.tripod.com/canning.html

I just buy the full sheet sticky label paper at Walmart, comes 25 sheets to a pack. You can always just use plain paper and glue them on,too.

This should keep you busy printing for a while.

Glad, I wasn't held in suspense too long over what a Gaiter is!! One benefit of not checking in often!

Oh, come on Bluebird! Build that outhouse! I wish I had the plans for one! Long story short, we teased my daughter and another little girl that the landlord wanted to save money on water so he was going to build an outhouse in this little girls yard, it was just too funny!

EEEKKKKK!!! I have a mouse in my house! I have never had a mouse in "my" house! We had them in my parents house all the time, but in my 15 years and a little more than 2 months of homemaking I have never had a mouse! Hopefully the kitties find it and take care of it!

On the house cleaning, PLEASE do be careful! We just had an incident in our area yesterday. A man knocked on a ladies door claiming car troubles, and asking to use a phone. The lady let him in to use the phone, he said to her didn't anyone ever tell you not to let strangers in your home? and raped her! Made her take her wedding band off, stole them and left!

We are not sure at this point who it was, but, we think it was this nice young mennonite girl. She had given the kids a few zucchinni this summer. I am so broken up about this. As it is within walking distance of my home! (Something of this is sooo very unheard of in our area!)

How awful for that girl. Living in a huge metro city we never allow strangers in our house.. car trouble, theres a pay phone on the corner.

We have had several "out of gas" stories over the years as we live next door to a gas station.... after the first time, we just say sorry we can't help you.

We haven't been doing much frugal or unfrugal lately. Car sharing instead of going in debt for another car. I limited my thrift store buying last weekend and gave 3 boxes of stuff away to people on freecycle instead. I did buy a banana holder at the thrift store for 90 cents... had just seen them advertised somewhere for 6.99. The only thing wrong with it is it was loose, took a phillips screw driver tightened the bolt and it's good as new... now my banana's actually have a home instead of being moved around on the counters.

Sales continue to go well for us at our mall, so that's a nice little extra source of income coming in.

Well I'm off to mail out some catalogs for work, will talk with everyone later.

Oh glad the gaiter issue was solved... here in Ohio we just call those head scarfs.

Anna

Karen,
Oh how awful, I hate when people come to the door and the dh isnt home. I never open the door all the way we also have the chain lock and I use it!
Went to Aldis last night got powdered milk tuff to make our hot chocalate, which I think will be our homemade gift from the boys to their cousins, Aunts and grandmas no one is to old for hot choclate! Now my dilema is what to put it in. I had 3 large peanut butter jars but not enough for everyone.
Making candy yams today for tommorow, thats what my grandmother wants me to make.
This weekend Evan and I are going to make our paper rings for christmas my friend has a paper cutter so she made us red and green strips just have to put together! We tend to put up the tree the day after Thanksgiving but going to hold off a little while since I babysit for a curious George and I think it might be an issue! Not looking forward to that one!

They're gaiters here in MN, too. Land's End carries them and calls them that also.

I'm soon off to the kitchen to make Pecan Chocolate Chunk Pie for tomorrow as there won't be any oven space to do it in the morning. Hopefully the crust will hold up okay and not get real soggy. Any ideas how to prevent that?

Frugal was picking up a Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory candy bar for free yesterday for dd. Not so frugal, I picked one up for ds as well. $2.25.
Then in Bath&Body Works I used my free from survey $5 giftcard to get a bar of the Shea Butter soap for my sister's stocking.
I also used my $25 giftcard from MyPoints to pick up each of the kids a book for Christmas.
Frugal and yet not so frugal, went to Bridgeman's for our final eating-dinner-out hurrah. Kids ate free as they're still running that promotion every Tuesday. All four of us ate for under $15.

I no longer have medical insurance. We had medical assistance but then I started working 8 hours a week in the school library and dh worked a little overtime and we were kicked off it. Dh just got on a very affordable plan at work for himself, the kids still qualify for free coverage, but I'm without. They're coming to take my CPAP machine for sleep apnea as it's $133/month to rent it. It just doesn't pay to work unless you're making bigger bucks. I'm sure ya'll know how that goes. On the bright side... I get to work for 3 weeks at the post office for the Christmas season. I guess I can live without insurance for a while so we can pay off one of our loans soon and hopefully get into our own house again in the spring.

Off to print out some photos on the printer I am testing and got to keep while getting my pie together.
Have a great Thanksgiving ya'll!

Congrads to Karen! I bet your dd is excited new babies are sooooooooo sweet!
Beckri,
Sorry about your situation thats one of my fears if dh is unemployed more than 6 months, or god forbid gets a job that only covers him....My sil is in a similar situation she buys private ins for her and her dh at 340 a month. Seems high but if something did go wrong it would or could be a lot worse.

Gaiters: I have also heard of those things they wrap around their boots as being gaiters also. We have more of a need to protect our necks around here!

Well--today is pumpkin pie baking, and making sweet potato casserole, wild rice casserole and stuffing. The green beans, potatoes, bread and turkey(s) will be tomorrow. I'm going to do my big turkey in the Nesco roaster this year. Has anyone ever done that? Any hints/tips?

Am also going to try a cranberry martini drink--sounds kind of refreshing. Just thought I'd try to mix some new recipes with the traditional--just for a change--and dh says, "you're trying all this with guests coming?". I say--why not? We'll have plenty of food and a good time no matter what!

Unfrugal: DH just informed me that he needs tires for his truck! At this time of year! Really bad timing. But---he's going to go to the local farm store--which should save us somewhat. In days gone by he would have gotten the expensive name brand kind, that looked "right" and had the right name on them. So--I'm glad to see him have a change of attitude on that kind of thing.

Well--should get going--need to make yet 1 more stop at the store today!! And do all my cooking!!!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYBODY!!!!!
