Good morning everyone,
sorry to hear about the neice situation...everyone ir right it's the kids that lose.
Today I'll pack my lunch for work that will save me money. I was proud of myself yesterday, everyone else ate out but I just ate the lunch I packed so I saved money there. On Sat. I'm going shopping need to take a couple of things back and then I want to see if they have anything on sale that I can't live without. I've already picked up most of my families gifts for next yr at the store I work at, now just have to find someplace to store them.
After this week I need to get my house really cleaned up I have a long weekend coming up so I'll kinda houseclean most of the rooms...maybe not the kitchen cause I want to paint that in the spring but the other rooms need a good dusting and a scrubing. Well I need to make hubby his morning coffee so you all take care and have a great day.

No they aren't allowed to use the phone

I thank everyone for your concern. I was looking at the pictures I had developed and was crying last night. They're aunt has always been a control freak that's why I didn't want to deal with her too much but now this...so not sure if I'll get to see them this month because I'm trying to purchase a washer/dryer and get a gate put up either soon or whenever my tax return comes in when it's time to file. But I'm gonna put their bikes in layaway and hope that I can sort it all out and see them soon.

Welcome to the frugal living thread, we look forward to sharing ideas and experiences with you in the coming year.

What you are doing in consolidating all your debt is a very good idea. We did that 3 years ago, one more year and everything will be paid off and we have totally resisted the temptation to open a credit card or take out a bank loan. I would caution on mortgage refinancing to make sure you are getting a "fixed" rate not a variable, that can come back and bite you in the butt in a couple of years. Banks are real sneaky on that one, they make it sound wonderful... you'll only pay ex: $200 a month and it may change with the interest rates in 24 months, etc. make sure you ask. We have seen so many homes in Columbus go into foreclosure over this, very sad.

Yesterday we took out truck into the dealership where they replaced the ball joints and realigned the truck for FREE, because it's under recall. Very scary, the kathunking we were hearing was the ball joints going bad, the tire could've fell off at any time.

For those of you taking your lunch to work, that will save you thousands not only in not going out and getting fast food but also in better health by eating foods that you can control the amounts of salt and fats in the food. I have taken my lunch to work for years.

We will be using our leftover ham to make ham and bean soup as soon as I take the "designer" beans back to the store and buy them somewhere else. We were looking for that 12 bean mix there was only one bag and couldn't find a price. I forgot to ask at the register, got home and looked at the receipt... it was over $5.00 closer to $6.00 for one lb. of beans... No Way! They are going back.

Well off to get the day started.

Anna

Anna, Glad to see you on here. I was wondering where you've been. Are you on vacation this week?

Frugal today is making homemade spagehtti sauce.

Not much else going on, time to start cleaning up the holiday stuff.

Forgot to tell my frugal deals I got yesterday. Was working my Safeway store and they announced "75%" off all Xmas stock! Yea, I got two tree skirts 3.50 each I can't decide which one to keep. And the big candles sets that they sell for 19.99 for 4.99 each, I got 2 of those cause thats all they had or I would have gotten more. LOL I'm going to scout out some more stores today.

Forgot to mention that I took the girls to see Spongebob at our local dollar theater. Wish it was a dollar still...either way was only $10 for the 3 of us to get in. A large (not so large) popcorn was refillable for free and so was the drink.

Today I'm hitting Target again. Better be 75% off by now. Going to return the 2-way radios santa brought us too. They are Motorola Talkabouts. What a high-maintenance joke they are!!! Package says 22 channels. Yeah right. chan. 1-7 and 15-22 are something called GMRS and only usable if you have a license from the FCC Yes you can call or download an application but why would I want to do that??? All I need them for is when the kids are outside and I need to keep tabs on them, or when dd1 is shopping with friends and is too embarrassed to have me lurking around that type of thing.

Back on again

Hi Everyone, well on the 17th my computer crashed, lost everything on it, hard drive needed to be replaced, and didn't get it up and running until last evening,
So today have been entering everything back onto my computer, while entering my name into the Family Corner, it would not accept my Montanaczech name/password, so have had to accept the prior name I used a few yrs ago ???
So:

Czechlady and Montanaczech are one of the same, have lost the posts amt. that I had with Montanaczech , but oh well will continue on.

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas, haven't taken the time to read all the past posts on here, will try to catch up a bit.

Happy NewYears to all
Joy

Boggsz, I am so happy for you, getting to see the new baby today ! No doubt you are all excited about it.

Frugal is eating beans I cooked with the ham bone from Christmas.
Making some salad rolls today, too.
My husband is working long hours this week, so I don't have to cook as much.
Bought a nice robe on sale yesterday for myself.
If I can get motivated, I will go to the store and use the coupon for yogurt that is on sale 10/$3. It is the brand we like and have the light type. This store has more variety in flavors than my reg. store does.

Some old friends from Louisiana are here for a visit. Haven't seen them in 5 years! They said they missed snow, so had to come to Wisconsin (silly people).

Anyway, we're taking them out to eat tonight - so not frugal there. But the next two nights we're invited to dinner at other peoples' homes, so I think it should even things out some.

And best of all: I DON'T HAVE TO COOK FOR 3 NIGHTS!
