I forgot to post my neat idea.... I took a huge gift bag, the three foot one from the dollor tree.... placed a box in it for the gift bags, name tags, tape, then put the rolls of paper at the other end. A huge bag with all my gift wrapping stuff in it. The cost was almost nothing. I bought the gift bag for a gift then the bag was too small. the box I had. Of course the bag weighs almost ten pounds I think!

I took the kids to Wal-Mart today to use their gift cards. The toys were not discounted and wrapping paper was only 50% off. I couldn't belief that they were setting up for Valentine's Day already.

Stopped at CVS on the way home to pick up their sales I got 9 boxes of 108 ct Puffs for $.67 ea, 16 dbl rolls of Charmin for $6.08 (.38 a dbl roll), 6 cans of Pringles for $.70 each after coupons. I did get 255 ft of wrapping paper for $7.81 50% off I picked up a 4 roll pack that had 2 plain rolls and a roll of Nascar & a roll of Dysney Princess paper to use year round.

Today for dinner, I am using what I have in the house. So I really don't need to go to the grocery store.

The kids and I went shopping, they used their gift cards. So I didn't spending any money. I returned two things I bought the kids for Christmas, they really didn't want it. One was a video game my son had played at a friends' house. He thought it was too easy. The other was a cd that my daughter all ready had. What was I thinking.

Everyone have a nice afternoon.

I have really enjoyed reading everyones posts today although leasmom and Bluebird, what sadness there is in the world when little children suffer whether it be physical or mental.

I finally got all the stuff for my Swifter Mop, used a coupon so it was a little help. anyways, I love it!

My mil says it is the lazy way to mop.... my thoughts are "hey, if it's easy, I'll do it more often" and my floors will be cleaner. My girlfriend says Aldi's sells the sheets in the summer so will be keeping an eye out on those.

We finally got to celebrate Christmas today with my middle sister and her kids. They loved all the toys, the Hokey Pokey Elmo was absolutely adorable! My sister gave me gift certificates again to Blockbuster and JoAnn Fabrics... always a big hit!

My other sister ex didn't bring her son home like he was supposed to so we have to go back tommorow and try again. What a jerk, he knew we planned to come over today. So you all aren't alone with the difficult relatives.

I got my CD graphics today... found out I need another program to use it "Paint Shop Pro". Has anyone used this program?

Well I'm off for now.. take care.

Anna

Leasmom and Bluebird - sorry about your nieces not being able to visit.

Frugal was staying home again. We ate more leftovers tonight and a fresh salad. Boy, I like helping Mom empty her refridge!

want in on thread

This may not be "frugal", but we are consolidating debts and refinancing. Will save almost 3 points of interest on the mortgage part, plus more than that on the credit card debt! And better tax benefits. But I hate "banking". Makes me nervous. Will be glad when it's all completed.

My frugalness happened purely by accident !
Both dd's had bday$ and savings burning holes in pockets. Well mostly the 13 yo... since they are on break thought it would be a good time to open their savings accts at our credit union. Great thing was that they had a special running: open a "kidz klub acct." before Dec. 31 and they give you the initial $5 deposit FOR FREE!!! so both kids have an extra $5 in their accounts

Just a thought here about the neice situation. Do they have your phone numbers and addresses written down or memorized in case of emergency? Say their mom or aunt totally flips out or something?

Rosmith - I think it is being frugal. You are saving money now and later on your taxes.

Good morning all!!

I was not frugal yesterday - in addition to buying my boss his birthday gift, I also treated him to pizza for lunch. His favorite food and one his wife won't let him have.

Then one of my windshield wipers won't move. It sounds like whatever is housing it has broken. So I am off to the mechanic this morning. The woman I usually take to work, her husband will pick me up and will take us both in. It may be under warranty, but I won't be able to get it to a dealership until at least Monday, so that will mean renting a car. My mechanic won't charge to diagnose it, and he will look on the computer to find out if it is under warranty for me. This is why I ply them with homemade cookies, and never forget them. They are very nice like that. And if they can do the work, I won't mind paying them.

But, as Iam opening the gifts, I am putting things away. Where I am going to put the ice cream sundae set, I have no idea. And I have one thing that I definitely will "re-gift". I am down to just a couple more things, and I will be done.

Frugal today, will be bringing my lunch, and having some leftover ham for dinner.

Well, all, take care. Norma
