Happy Birthday, Emmjean !! May you have a special day.
Joesbaby, how are you? Still saying prayers of comfort for you and your family.
The recipe sounds wonderful !! Thanks for sharing it with us.
Thank you, everyone for your prayers and good wishes. I went and got some cute, but manly fabrics today. Going to make my dad some pillowcases to use in the nursing home. Couldn't think of much else. Maybe sweat pants. These may help cheer him up. I hope so. So, that is my frugal, using a 40 % off coupon and getting the fabrics.
LoriMae, will have to chat with you when things slow down.
Bluebird, you are in my prayers !!! Take things one day at a time.
Now I wish I could make hats and things for my grandbaby, but I don't know how. Oh well, I can sew.
I did find him the cutest Pooh hat at the baby thrift store. It has a pooh face and ears on it. I tried it on him when his mommy was gone. He looks so silly in it. ! I loved it.
I can't remember who posted about the swiffer wet jet, but a little warning: I have a linoleum (sp?) floor, used too much vinegar or ammonia can't remember which and it took the shiny finish off my floor!!! Possibly I used too much, but oh what a pain it was. Please be careful.
Unfrugal was paying for my market day order today-well at least we have a bunch of food to last awhile now.
Went to breakfast with some friends (their treat) today then stopped off in a sports store. Found on clearance some flip flops with soccer balls on them for $1.99-already done shopping for my neice, but at that price I had to pick them up.
Just opened the paper and found this article about memorable gifts teachers had received. Here are the highlights:
Fried porkchop in tin foil the student insisted be eaten in front of the class.
Roll of lifesavers from a child who's family had no $ but still wanted to give a gift (every piece meant so much to the teacher she said)
Necklace stolen from students mom's jewelry box. When asked if mom would miss it, kid replied no because mom was in jail !
Training bra
Girdle
Sheer nightgown with 2 show girl tassles. (teacher shoved it back in bag before class could see it)
Used soap
1 earring (teaching asst. got the other)
Tatoo parlor gift cert.
and jello.
The last of the gifts and the personal cards has been bought!!! Anything I see now, is for me!!!
Nothing frugal about my last purchase, but it the same "last" gift I buy every year. My boyfriend's cologne - $65.00 this year. Something new, and with a couple of free things (yeah right) with this one. Smells great and I think that he will like it. Next year I will try to find a "knock off" of the same scent. I got home, and his "fruitcake" hd arrived. Now Christmas will be just fine.
I buy the fruitcake from www.collinstreetbakery.com every year. I don't eat fruitcake myself, but he loves it. So much so, that I usually get one for Valentine's day and one in August for his birthday. None fo the bakeries around here can come close to this place, according to him. Believe me, it took years to find a place that made a fruitcake that he would eat.
That is the signal that the buying is over.
Tomorrow, I have our sweepstakes club party. I bought a ham this morning for $1.69 lb. for a butt protion. I think that is a really good price for the name brand on this ham. I have to find the gifts I purchased the day after Christmas last year for our gift exchange.
Also in my mail were 3 packages which turned out to be dvds of my nephews favorite cartoons. They are wins from a General Mills sweepstakes I entered several months ago. Elwood will get one, and two of his friends will be the recipients of the other two, along with the other gifts they were already getting. These two kids will think they are very much beloved. This is a great time of year to win things for kids.
Ladies, I must leave and start to sort through the gifts, so they can be re-grouped by family, co-workers, etc. I have to find the gifts for tomorrow, and get them in some gift bags, so that I can get the ham into the oven tomorrow morning, and have everything ready. And keep everything away from the cat. He wants it all!!!
I am looking for a recipe my dh tried at work he said it was Pecans covered in a mixture like cinnamon and syrup does anyone know what im talking about and have the recipe thanks a bunch
Well, Terminex almost didn't come today because I was at work and they were calling to cancel but they sent someone else out anyway. That wasn't frugal but it is worth it, it was $150- Because he came late, but grateful he came, I couldn't get my package, my nieces gifts to the post office, which I'm so happy I didn't. I went and got the batteries I needed for them and a few more stocking stuffers for the three kids-dd, and two nieces and a plunger and some Xmas candy. Paid more because it wasn't a dollar store but a Family dollar but I had to stay close because dd was at her play practice at Girls Inc. Then we went to Fedex and I was expecting to pay about $45. I had bought my box from Walmart for $1.59 this morning and so they just put peanuts in it and the cost was $7.50 for 17.5 lbs- I was in shock. I was so happy!!!
I then went to Save-A-Lot and got enough food for us for the weekend since my mom will be here on Monday and she'll be buying ALOT. We also bought snacks for the movies. We saw Lemony Snickets, a Series of Unfortunate Events. It was a good movie, highly recommend it. That came to $14.50.
Tomorrow I will have to get my break pads changed and hoping that's all and will have to drive to Kingsport for a bag of free clothes. This other lady from Freecycle had a free phone I wanted but found out she is 25 miles into Virginia so told her no thanks. I can't wait for my mom to come on Monday though the visit will be very short. But excited.
I was the one who posted about the swiffer wet jet. Vinager is a acid..... Could you do anything to restore the shine? I was using the orange cleaner I make on the bathroom floor, I had a naughty kitty..... the floor got sticky! I am back to the scant one teaspoon vinager to a quart of water. That cleans very well.

Meijer has been having additional 10% off general merchandise. So today I purchased DS's much needed tennis shoes on sale at 40% plus an additional 10% also bought some photo albums I needed for 75% off plus additional 10. I ended up spending 50.91 but had a savings of 69.67. Plus MIL will pay me back for the photo albums as part of Christmas gift.
The other frugal was buying the kids some books at Half Price books in the clearance section for .25. In one of the books was a coupon for a free kids buffet at Mr. Gatti's. We had to go there tonight for DS's reward so that .25 book saved me 4.99.
