I have seen "gaiters" that go around the neck, kind of like a scarf, but a tube of material. Keeps the neck warm in winter, and is pulled over the head to put on.
Took dd into town for her water PT. Frugal was buying $17.00 of meat for $10.00! I stuck to my shopping list though and now I am home for the week.... I can work on Christmas gifts and Thanksgiving dinner.
At the library I checked out two books on old fashioned living/cooking.

Well, I'm looking into options for crafts that may make me a profit eventually, so while at the library I checked out a book on painting gourds. I've seen them at craft shows and thought I could do that. Looks like a hassle to dry/clean them, but seems intriguing, too. Or, I may just see if there's a demand for the plain gourds, then all I'd have to do is grow them and sell them to the crafters.
I roasted one of our turkeys today--so we can cut it up, make the stock, etc and get it out of the way. This way, when we want turkey later on, I don't have to thaw and cook a whole bird!! Plus, it was taking up some valuable fridge space lol!! I made rolls and bread for the stuffing already, and the pies are in the freezer, too. So all I have to do Thursday is throw the bird in the oven and make the potates. And the cranberry sauce, of course. My dad opted to work Thursday instead of coming to dinner--it makes me sad, but I understand why he doesn't want to celebrate. I just hope he's able to move on a bit by Christmas--I'd hate for my kids to miss another holiday with "papa" because he's depressed!!
Main frugal thing for me today was making laundry soap and hanging my clothes to dry. I finally made it to the top of Laundry Mountain and could hang the wash because we didn't need it "right now"!!

please please does any one have a tnt easy peanut butter fudge recipe??? today is my dads birthday...Happy Birthday Dad and im broke. he loves peanut butter fudge..but i cant find a recipe that seems like it would be good, and easy. so any help is greatly appricated. i want to make it to take it over to him later this evening.
Hi! Sorry it took my so long to get back about the gaiter, but........the winner is: Barbzy! A gaiter is a tube-type neck covering that you pull on over your head and wear instead of a scarf. I like them so much more than a scarf--they stay up around your neck to keep it warm, and there are no loose ends flying around. I especially like them for the kids--I'm always afraid of them getting caught and strangling them while they're sledding, skiing, playing etc. etc.
Mystery solved--guess only some of us live where it's cold--and you have to learn to bundle up if you're going to go ice fishing, skiing etc. around here!
Well--back to cleaning the house for the holiday.....and heating up leftover potato soup for dinner.

Here gaiters are tubes of fabric with elastic at both ends that the guys wear over their pant legs, from the knees down, when they go hunting.
Frugal is finding some free printable labels online for my homemade flavored vinegar bottles. The raspberry vinegar is really lovely. I started another batch today. I also made a small amount of spicy cilantro garlic vinegar. It is good. Not sure what we will use it for yet. I am just learning about the vinegars. Got the first batch bottled, and the tops dipped in sealing wax.
