Originally posted by RobertaD they cut up old sweaters into squares, sewed together and made a blanket
What an interesting idea. Also a great way to use up the sweaters for those that are making mittens from them using the cuff areas.

Here is the link for turning old sweaters into blanket & rugs.
Most of the finished products are quite pricey.

I dont know what the people do in thrift shops in your area, but where I live, things that are donated that are stained, ripped etc.. they rip off the buttons and put them all in a bag and sell them to crafters lucky enough to get there first. I get mine because my mom volunteers there and lets me know when ever there is a bag sitting around and I quickly go grab them.
It's one I get through subscription, it's a freebie that was listed on here earlier this year. If I can remember when I get home, I'll mail the page to you.
P.S. Ya know, I just did a search and maybe it's called Organic Style? I get so many different ones.

OSI.....I also got the subscription to Oganic Style as a freebie. Checked out the page you were talking about. Was in the Dec. issue. Love the dog in the photo real cute. The blanket is well made from thrift shop sweaters but too pricey for me at $425.00.

Think I'll buy 2 or 3 of the sweater blankets I can't believe that people spend money like that. Workwasn't as fun as usual today my boss is on vaction so it's not as nice. The electric keeps going out so that is keeping us on our toes. dd is frighten of the dark. Dh did get to go deer hunting today but didn't get one yet. We need to call the garage about the car it needs worked on. Isn't that the way it always is....right at Christmas time you need to spend money on Christmas but now the car breaks oh well as long as the computer works!!! I have tomorrow off so we are puting up our decorations and then I'm gonna make cookies and clean the house I also have to finish the purses I'm making for my nieces. You take care
Oh the flea thing, we use boric acid and nothing else. We have three cats and a dog and never see fleas. Just sprinkle it on your carpets and rub in, then don't vacumn for a week. We usually go a year or more before we have to re-treat. Fleas lay their eggs in the carpet and the boric acid dries it so that it is not a friendly envionment for the eggs. No eggs, no fleas. We also wash the animal bedding on a very regular basis.

Hi, Laurie, just was thinking about you. It has been COLD outside.
At least it has been nice, but the news says rain almost any time now.
OSI, when your turkey is frozen like that, you can put in the sink with cool water, change it every 20 minutes, and it will thaw out. It is fine to thaw this way.
Not much frugal, since I am sick. I did get some socks, buy one pack full price, get the second pack half price. Will use in the Christmas stockings.
Good ideal. All of the ideals were good and I have tried a few of them and will try more on payday. I hope I can find some boric acid cheaply, sometimes they cost as much as the sprays. Thanks.
Oh, went to the Bent and Dent store and picked up some stuff for dd's lunches until payday. I got 3 little containers of apple sauce and 2 sodas for her each were .15 cents, I got some lemon granola bars for .75 cents and some low carb granola bars for me for $1.25. It all came to $2-something. So now dd has lunch until payday and I have a snack to tied me over until I can get home and cook a good meal.
