Getting rid of fleas

I don't know if this really works or not. I read it somewhere on the web, and not sure where. It stated to get crabapples, slice them up and place them near the heat vents. The person claimed to have rid an entire mobile home of fleas using this method.

But, I like OSI's suggestion, that stuff sounds great!

Patrice, I think if I were you I would just stay put! I mean if you ever really want to be with your family you can always visit. I don't know if your family is anything like mine. But, just about every holiday, I wish we lived a further distance from them.

Not much frugal here. I avoided the sales on Friday, due to not seeing anything good. BUt, did go grocery shopping at Wal-Mart this morning, and everything seemed to be priced very low. Even DH's snuff was cheap only $14.02 for 10 cans!! Usually it is over $20 for that much!

That's right, it's just about 10 to 12 hrs away

I was supposed to drive up there to get my mom for Xmas but she told me not too because I'm not used to driving in the snow and ice. I told my nieces I'd come to visit them and IF my sister does move there I could stay with her. I know I don't mind driving up one day and driving back the next, hey I did that by Greyhound nearly 5 yrs ago, so why not in my car.

If my sister is closer I could always go up there for Thanksgiving and my mom could come here for Xmas. I do prefer here, I'm happy here, and dd wants to be around her friends. I'm tired of moving too and am ready to settle down in a permanent area. I don't have to live there to see them. It's just been so long since I've seen my mom-(2 yrs, talk every Sunday), and it had been 4 ys since I saw my nieces and I'm grateful that I get to spend time with them now and I can always go and visit them. I moved to Colorado to be near my sister after not seeing her for 3 yrs while her husband was stationed in Hawaii. If shes in Detroit I can see her more frequently as well.

leasmom - I agree with the others just stay put and drive up when need to. If you both love Tennessee stay there and be happy. It is not that far of a drive to make when you need or want to.

We went to halfprice books today. The kids picked out some of the clearance ones for .25. I also let them pick out one each for 1.98. Then we went to Michaels for some items DH wanted. It was a zoo in there. I had never seen that many people in the store before. We then spent the afternoon with his Mom and then stopped by my Mom's for the remaining leftovers of my sweet potato casserole and she gave us leftover macaroni and cheese and cheesecake. So I added green beans and bratwurst sausage and that was dinner.

Good morning,
leasmom I think I'd listen to my heart if you love Tenn. then stay. My sister lives about 6 hours away and I miss her alot but between visits and phonecalls it's not bad.
Went Christmas shopping yesterday the frugal thing was not buying my dd the thing she asked for.........a juice box for $60 never even heard of until she asked for it but I did that last year with the video now and she only played with it a couple of times, so I said NO.
Today is the first day of buck (deer) season in PA. This is the first yr my dh had to work but some friend might give us some meat so that will save us money. Need to freeze some of the leftover turkey today it will be good in homemade noodle soup. Well it's time for dh to get up for work you all have a great day.

We rang bells at the mall on Saturday for the Salvation Army ended up spending most of the day doing it since dh's & FIL's group didn't have enough people signed up for the day. FIL bought lunch & dinner for the family.

Sunday we went to visit dh's grandmother 3 hrs away she is not doing well and we don't expect her to last until Christmas. Fil paid for breakfast and we paid for lupper and the gas.

Today we have a dinner function to attend so will make something quick and easy for the kids before dropping them off at my bil's house.

My goodness, I missed yesterday and had alot to catch up on here. You all have been so busy cooking, as have I. We made a huge batch of chili in the roaster oven and then my thanksgiving day turkey finally thawed out (took it 9 days for a 13 lb. turkey) so I cooked it in the oven last night and tonight will cut it up and freeze it for later use.

I wanted to mention something I saw in Organic Living magazine.... they cut up old sweaters into squares, sewed together and made a blanket and get this, they are selling them for $485.00!!!! Can you believe that?

I spent yesterday shopping at Joann's and Walgreens. I bought 4 skeins of this new yarn Light and Fluffy in its called "Baby Blues" it multicolored pink, blue, green, yellow, white really pretty and soft. Anyways I came home and got out my super huge crochet hook and single crochet stitched a baby blanket and started a second for 2 co workers who had babies (one last Wednesday, the other is due for C section delivery on Wednesday of this week. I used my Joann's customer coupon, coupon from Sundays paper and a competitors coupon (Michaels) so got each skein for $2.50 so I was able to make 2 good sized baby blankets for $5.00 each

I found a hotplate at Walgreens, actually a double plate, for $19.99 theres a $5.00 rebate.. so actually it will be $15.00. I will be setting up my candle making station in the basement instead of my kitchen so we can actually cook in the kitchen without candles being in various states of finished and dh grabbing ones to use that are actually stock items

Well better get back to work for now.

Anna

I have made pillows from sweaters but.. if you use the soft chenille type sweaters, they wear out very fast. I will use iron on facing material on the back next time. Part of my in the process duvet cover is sweaters. I really need to finish it. I think I have enough material now. I have been collecting material, sweaters, for about three years. It will be animal print, golds, browns, all the material is textured either satin or sweaters or velor.

What an interesting idea. Also a great way to use up the sweaters for those that are making mittens from them using the cuff areas.

In an old issue of "Sew News" they used cut up sweaters to make a poncho.

OSI, which issue of Organic Living was that in?
