Chris,
Photocopy a grid 5 squares by 5. Give each guest one copy and a pencil.
They fill in the squares with items a baby needs (crib, blanket, diaper); each square a different item.
Then when the gifts are opened they play Bingo.
Have a few inexpensive prizes to give away.
"Guess which baby food you are eating". We went to a couples baby shower, they had the father to be and three other new fathers have a test on what is the baby food. The men were blind folded and they had to guess what flavor was the baby food. It was hilarious.
"Clothespin game". Another game, is everyone is given clothespin as they come to the party. The object is not to say baby and if you do you will lose the clothespin if they say baby and someone catches them. The one that catches them gets their clothespin. The one with the most pins at the end of the party gets a prize.

My sister used to work for IHOPS here in Columbus till she went to work one morning and found chains on the doors, closed with no notice to their employees. She now works for Bob Evans, that was around 17 years ago.
I think it was you who wanted to know the material to bind the sweaters with and I wanted to write this down before I forget... it's called Fusable Webbing.

I loved your nephews punishment, been chuckling over that one all day!

The filters that are less allergenic can be purchased at Sears, they used to be around $6.00 each. Our furnace guy said you still have to change them monthly no matter how cheap or expensive they are in order to keep your furnace moving smoothly.
My dh's aunt puts screens over each of her vents swears it keeps the dust down... I've also heard you can use cheesecloth, have been meaning to try that but havent' yet. We have a screen over the return air vent in our hall because of our dogs and you would not believe the amount of dog hair that screen catches, UGH! Really gross when I have to vacuum the screen.
Our big dog has so much hair, it gets everywhere.
Anna
Anna I take old pantyhose and cover my vents with them it really cuts down on the dust
Not only are you guys creative, you're also quick!! I'm planning this shower with a woman who has some good ideas, but it seems like everything she would like to do is pretty pricey, and I'm watching my pennies, so these ideas are great!! Thank you!

Chris, we have a forum here on "Holidays and Occasions" and this is the section for showers. Some for bridal, others for baby.
Good luck!
Yes, you will find QUICK help around this place a lot of the time
That's what I love about the folks here.
Thanks for the info! By the way, you have really made me feel welcome here. I really appreciate it! Kind of feels a bit like an extended family

Originally posted by futureteacher Just wondered if any of you ladies have any ideas for baby showers that are inexpensive and fun. I am hosting a shower in a month and have a place to have it for free (they provide the tables and chairs too) and a friend making the cake, but was wondering if anyone had any good ideas for inexpensive games/activities etc.
Chris we just had my niece a baby shower one game we played is take the babys name if thay have it picked out and have everyone see how many words thay can make out of the name give them 1 min and the most wins
another is buy a bag of the round ballons have them blown up and make them put a balloon in there shirt see if thay can tie there shoes or reach them with out the balloon breaking sooooooo funny
We've played a blindfolded diaper & dress the baby (a doll) contest. Also, filling a jar with cottonballs or Q tips, and everyone guessing how many. Once we had everyone bring baby pics of themselves, and people had to guess who was who.
