My mother has a time share and we will be staying at a resort here. Has anyone ever been here and can you tell me anything about the area? I have 3 children, 9, 10 and 12 who are going with us.

Hi! I live about an hour or so away from Ellijay and the only things I know in the area are apple farms...in the fall lots of people from here go up there and buy apples!?! As far as anything else I am not sure. Dalton and Calhoun which are both fairly close have outlets as does Dawsonville which is probably an hour away (guessing). There is also Carters Lake in the Calhoun area and a state park close to Dawsonville. I don't know if this helped at all, it depends really on what you want to do. Hope y'all have a good trip!
Sonya
I gathered that it was pretty quiet and that will be just fine. The outlets will be a nice day trip perhaps. It will be time for back to school shopping, too.
Thanks for the input!

I visited that area a few years back. Check out all the state parks -- Amicalola Falls SP is not far from there (to the east), Fort Mountain SP to the north. The best of the State Parks are even further east, but might be worth the trip -- Vogel SP, and especially Unicoi SP.
Location: ???somewhere east of the mississippi river

Hi If you have the time take a day trip to Chattanooga, Tenn. It is right over the Ga/Tenn line. They have an I max Theater. Fish Aquarium, Rock City, Ruby Falls, and Lookout Mt. You can ride the Incline to the top of the mountain. There is alot of civil war history. Rock City is great too. We took our kids when they were little, they loved it. It is great in the fall up there. You will have a good time.
Hi, can you please explain me whet 'time share' means?!! I live in Toronto, and one month ago we visited a home show, where I won a two-day pakage to a resort 'The Georgian Manor' in Collingwood, Ontario. They asked us to pay $50 returnable fee - and said (and even wrote down on the bill) it will be returned as soon as we check-in and listen to their 90-min tour.
I called a friend of mine, and he told me that he knows they will be trying to sell us 'time-shares'. Does it all look to you as spam or I am over-suspicious? I worry because we have two small children (under two years old), and if we go there but they will ask us to pay more, my b/f will eat me alive.
Please, help with advice.

You purchase a "week" at a particular timeshare and that week belongs to you forever. My mother purchased hers more than 15 years ago at a resort in Myrtle Beach. We have stayed there several times, but she can "bank" her week and "trade" her week and stay at other resorts. SHe has traded hers many times through RCI which is a whole network of time share resorts. We have stayed in Austria, England, NC, SC,GA, VA. Now that her time share is paid for, she pays maintainance fees and trading fees. We have been very happy.
Me especially as I get to tag along!

Hi Tara in NC, thank you for the info! I feel a bit reassured. Probably I did win these two days, lol (I mean probably they won't try to skim me of more dollars for staying, but just will try to sell those timeshares). Not that they mentioned themselves, but that's what my know-it-all frien suggested. Now I have even more questions - what does it actually mean to buy the 'week', how expencive it is, how you can trade it. I don't think I will be able to do it now, but I'd like to know more. Maybe I should check on the Internet.
Thanks again,
