My husband and I are going up into the mountains for a camping trip this weekend!!! Anyone else been on a camping trip yet this summer...or going on one???
peace,train
We are just trying to get back into camping after a few year hiatus! We went a couple of weeks ago with our ds had fun even though it was quite muddy! Would love to go camping in the mountains but it wont be this year. When I was a kid we camped in the Blue Ridge Mountains what a beautiful place! Train, do you guys tent camp? My dh would love a pop up camper but we have to make sure we are sticking with camping before we can invest that kind of money in it. I think its his age talking, he gets paranoid the air matress wont hold up all night lol.

Hi Lee,
Yes, we tent camp! So many people have campers nowadays, who knows, maybe someday we will too, but for now we still camp in our tent!! We only camp a few times every year so a camper would not be a good investment for us...nor could we afford one anyway...LOL!!!!
I have all our camping supplies in large tupperware containers so it's just a matter of restocking anything that ran out...buying food...and loading up the truck and we are ready to go!!!
Come on over abear, you can come camping with me!!!!
My girlfriend and I are going camping in July..........this weekend is me and my hubby!!!
Hi everyone,
I'm new to this thread, but thought I'd write.
We started going camping in April. It was still a little chilly, but it was great.
I tent camped for a couple years before getting my tent camper last year. Packed everything up in a wheeled tote. What I couldn't get in that, ie, tent, chairs, food, coolers, wood, etc., went in the back of the truck. But I got all the other stuff, ie, table cloths, cooking utensils, toys and games for the babies, and a few odds and ends in the tote.
Now I have my camper, and go every chance I get. It's "in my blood" to camp. Grew up going camping. When I got married, my dh had never been camping before he met me. He went a couple times, but doesn't like it. So I gave it up for years. I missed it so much, I decided I would go camping without him. Now, my children are grown, with families of their own, and they LOVE to camp. So it's my children and their families, and me. My grandbabies are being started early. All four of them started camping when they were just 6 weeks old. Now they are 22 months, 21 and 3/4 months, 9 months, and 2 months. The youngest went for the first time at 5 weeks old. Which is about the same age I was when I went camping for the first time. So they are all getting the camping fever early. The two oldest ones are really loving it. They have a good time.
I guess I should explain the ages and relationships. Harley is 22 months old. He is my daughters son. Baylie is 21 and 3/4 months old, and she is my sons daughter. Those two are only 3 weeks apart. Hunter is the 9 month old, and he's my sons' son. Makenzi is 2 months old, and she is my daughters' daughter.
Anyway, they are real little troopers. I get such a kick out of watching them discover things while camping. I want them to experience what my children didn't get to, until now.
Anyway, I love to camp, so as long as I am able, I will go as OFTEN as I am able.
Take care and have fun camping. This weekend, being before the holiday, I think I'll stay home, and stay away from the traffic and the crowd. Probably will stay home next weekend too. Everyone will be going home after the holiday. After that, I'll go every weekend. Or try to, anyway.
Enjoy, everyone.
Sue

trainlady... my idea of camping is having a fifth wheel or travel trailer complete with shower and coffee perking when I wake up... the "roughing" part comes from the black and white tv set sitting on the counter.....*L*
I don't want to wake up to find 2 eyes staring at me that are not my DH's.....know what I mean? *L

Hi Jeannie,
hey, that works, as long as you have a good time outdoors it doesn't matter if you camp in a fifth wheel or in a tent!!!
I am still a tent camper but I see ourselves maybe getting a little trailer down the road. My husband is already complaining about sleeping on the ground...even on an air mattress!!!!
Suealln, welcome to the camping thread!! It sounds like you have a really great timem camping!!!! I will look forward to hearing more about your camping trips!!
Well, our camping trip was really fun even though we had to change our destination!!!! The night before we were due to leave.......and the truck was already loaded, a wildfire broke out in the very mountain camp ground area we were going to!!!!!
I just couldn't believe it when I saw it on the news!!!!!
So, instead of the mountains, we headed to the beach!!! That is one nice thing about where we live. Bakersfield itself isn't much to look at but we are just an hours drive to the mountains or a 3 hour drive to the beach!
It was 107 in Bakersfield and 65 at Morro Bay!! Need I say more!!!!!
Trainlady.. camping is fun.. but all the camping I've done is from my travel trailer..g.*grin*..of course all the 'tent' people came over for coffee first thing...... LOL... it was fun.. *s* I'm getting to old for that stuff....

It is sooooo nice to know there's a thread for camping. I LOVE to camp. Tent, pop up, hard top, or the big rigs. Each one is easier than the last. Not so much to pack. I went from tents, to pop up, and the next trailer I get is gonna be a hard top. One I DO NOT have to crank up, and pull out the bunks, and put the door in, and hook the other stuff up. The cranking is the hardest part. I don't mind the rest. Anyway, it'll be another few years before I get one, though.
I love my trailer though. It's great. It'll have alot of good memories attached to it before I'm done with it.
I heard about the wildfires. Those are so devastating, and dangerous. I don't think we have any in our area. Mostly grass or brush fires, but they are easily put out.
Keep on camping, y'all.
Enjoy the great outdoors.

The only camping I have ever done is tent camping. I enjoy it.
Jeannie - I've never awaken to have two beady eyes staring at me that were not those of my DH or the two DS!
DD is like my mother. Their idea of camping is a room at the Holiday Inn Suites with an IHOP, Shoneys or something similar within walking distance!
When I was a little girl, we rented a cabin on Lake Livingston. It had a stove and refrigerator in it......and even hot, running water! But there was no A/C. That was the most miserable vacation we ever took as a family as my mother and older sister whined and complained the entire time we were there!
