actually it can be a lot of fun hiking and camping out in a national park in the fall or winter. Yes, it gets cold.Your body has to work harder to keep warm. But it kinda feels refreshing actually. My sweetie and I we are a bit more into "real" camping if you will- that is we go hiking for about 4-6 hours in the woods before we reach our tent site. The key to reasonalbly enjoying the outdoors is dressing really well in layers and wool socks.Even if you are at a regular campground place.Dress properly for the weather and everything gets easier.
For camping in winter(yes, snow ,crosscountry skis ,snowshoes)
a good WINTER tent will do you wonders.Once you sleep in a good winter tent you wont bother the crappy el cheap-o tents you get at the hardware store. But I will say, I prefer the Fall compared to winter camping for me.
