Staycations

Staycations are becoming the newest trend with prices of everything soaring these days. People are staying home and touring their cities and areas around them for little cost or even for free.

I have been doing this for years with my family. We have toured many free places and we love driving to Uptown, parking, walking around & people watching! lol!!

We also take advantage of story time at the library, free movies and even the fire house tour that we just went on. We toured a local TV station last summer and this summer we are going to try to tour their radio station.

Join a local Moms group if you have kids. (Search Yahoo groups or look on Craigs List to find one.) There are a lot of places that will allow your group to tour for free.


Finally people are catching on!

Use these tips in your own town as well. If you have a visitor's center nearby, pick up some brochures on places in your area. Sometimes they will offer coupons in the brochures.

Write to your Chamber of Commerce for info. on your area. Check to see if your city or the cities around you have websites. They usually offer lots of ideas. Checkout your local newspapers online for "free" things to do in your neighborhood.
