My DH and I several years ago were both assistant scoutmasters in the Boy Scouts. We used to take the group camping once a month year round. One of the favorite things was we tried to also do was Dutch Oven cooking over the campfire. The boys really learned a lot about cooking that way and looked forward to it. Now that DH and I live in the woods we have two firepits that we use when the opportunity arises. I have two rather large campfire cast iron Dutch ovens to use. I am wanting to start doing that again and wondered if anyone has any good recipes that they would care to share? I have a lot of them and am willing to share those if anyone wants them, but there has to be others that I probably don't have, care to share yours?

last week I took my dutch oven and baked biscuits in it on the stovetop, on top of that I placed a round griddle instead of the lid and cooked the eggs and sausage on that, I wonder how many more stacks of things I can do on the stovetop without crushing the burner underneath? but it was fun to do the experiment and the biscuits were light and only slightly browned on both sides (I flipped them halfway through and it almost made like an English muffin).
