I just found a book at Books a Million titled "Fun with the Family-Tennessee" It has a web site listed.

It has the state divided into five regions, then goes into counties, and cities, detailing whatever tourist attractions are in the area. For example, I live in Anderson County, and it tells about Norris Dam, the Lenoir Museum, the Rice Grist Mill, and the Museum of Appalachia.
It also goes into Oak Ridge, the "Atomic City", telling about the various museums and tours available. It also tells some of the places to stay and eat, giving approximate rates for each place.
I have been looking for something like this for several years, so I could take my kids to local areas that wouldn't always be something an obvious vacation area.
I thought that someone else might be interested in this as well.

I'd like to find a book like this for PA.
I took the girls on a day trip last week.
We went to the Flight 93 Temporary Memorial in Shanksville PA. It was a wonderful experience.
My dad has never been there so I may see if he wants to go for a ride one day soon.
There are volunteer ambassadors there who will tell you about the memorial.
All it cost to go there was gas in the tank.

Great information.
Saw three books on Ohio that I"m interested in. I'm going to see if my library has them or can order on the inter-library exchange.

This is exactly the kind of book that I am looking for but for NC.

Guess what? After checking out the "insider's guide" in your post, I was able to type in "North Carolina" and bring up a list of books for the state.

We have: Fun with the Family North Carolina, 5th
Find hundreds of ways to keep the kids entertained throughout North Carolina, whether they want to visit Christmastown USA in McAldenville or swim alongside waterfalls at Sliding Rock.

It seems like a good book. Only one thing........it mentions Christmastown in McAldenville....it should be Christmastown in McAdenville. This town is about 5 minutes from my house.

There are many other books too! Thank you for telling us about this!

Very cool these books would be great for traveling, too, if you could check one out through inter-library loan for your destination and play some day trips that way (or even sneak into the library while you're on vacation and look through the book)!

We just took a day trip to Reeds Gold mine in North Carolina.. Cost free. Just the gas down thier. We packed our lunch and left the house at 9 and returned home by 5. The kids loved it. The mind felt so good and cool.

I found out some very interesting things about Ohio when I checked out the Family Fun & the Day Trips books. I never new that Ohio had a wax museum of Bible figures. Would like to go sometime but that will be an over night trip required as it is at the other end of Ohio than we are.

I got stopped at the convenience store by a couple looking for directions in my town to Stuffingtown! I didn't know we had one. I knew PSU was an attraction, but now there's competition! Look out JOEPA!
