chuckle Still at it

We found a little box of goodies today. It was someone's box of junk,LOL!!

I got an old Santa sitting in a wooden train and it also has another wooden train car to go with it. Needs some TLC but it is cute! Also what appears to be a chip n dip set. It is dark brown and in the shape of an acorn? maybe.... has a round bowl w/ lid and 3 leaf shaped dishes to go around it. I thought that it would be cute for Fall decorating maybe with potpourri inside the bowl and small pincones, cinnamon sticks...whatever in the dishes. Also a small, lined basket. The lining needs to be washed but other than that, in great shape. Will probably hit the yard sale.

Ive been having a dry spell for a while so it felt good to find anything at all!!

I think thats a great idea using them for lap trays!

It makes me so mad when my Dh cant see the vision I have for something like that, LOL! I usually go ahead and attempt it anyway and then more than likely, he will step in and help.

Good Luck making them. Let me know how they turn out!

Dh found another mirror in our neighbors trash today. He brought it and showed it to me.....its in perfect condition, just needed to be cleaned up. I would say that it went with a bedroom set although it has little hooks on it to hang it up. Its kind of a long badge shape.

I cleaned it up with Pledge oil and wiped the mirror and its really nice!! The best thing is that it will go with the dresser that we found a couple of months ago. My dream is to paint them white and use them for my daughter when she gets her own room.

He also found a little wooden shelf that would go great in a room for her too.

Now all I have to do is find a room for her!

Maybe when we move.......

Anyway, I just love finding treasure like this!!

We went to Toy r Us 2 nights ago and bought my DD a toddler car seat. Well, the place in the back where you have to pick it up, was locked and it was pouring rain so hard my DH was getting soaked. He decided to climb up on their huge dumpster and take a look..... He got 2 huge display---one was a "Kinetics"--think that the name of them--airplane and crab sorta animal. We bought the started set for Christmas for DS for $20.00 so I can imagine what these wouldve cost. Had to take them out of the plexiglass display but they are perfect. The other one was a HUGE display that held a multi player construction set. DH took it apart from the display and now there is a conveyer belt and tubes for these little balls to fall down into, the 2 trucks that came with it are now seperate toys and the little men all came off of the attached pieces so he has about 6 new little guys. DS is having a blast with this thing! They are called Rokenboks. If you look up their website, they are so expensive! I was so afraid that he would get caught but he was so mad that they would open the door --even after he stood there ringing the bell and banging on the door--that he really didnt care what they said.

Today, We had to go back to our old township to pick up tax forms and along the way we found a blue (dolphin maybe?) Little Tykes swing in someones garbage. Its in fine shape ...just faded in a couple of spots. My DD will love this too!!

Great finds Ajrsmom! My DH would never go dumpster diving. I love it when we have the junk pickup day. A neighbor pitched out a high chair and a stroller. I called her as I did not have time to stop and asked her to save them for me for a Mother/Infant Project that my Mom volunteers for. I don't know why people throw perfectly good things out instead of donating them. The kids also got a Little Tykes truck out of someone else's pile.

We found a coffee table today in someone's garbage pile. It has a few scratches on it but with some cleaning, it is going out in my yard sale.

We also found a coffee table in our neighbors garbage pile last night. it is perfect for our computer room/Den. It has a black metal base and a wooden top. I just touched up the base with spray paint and the top with murphy's oil soap and it looks like new.

We had "junk day" not too long ago here.
My best friend can make something out of things in the worst condition.

*I just saw in Country Woman that you can place an old umbrella frame and let a clamatis grow up around it.
*Bricks and a piece of plyboard to make a potting table.
a piece of driftwood that has been stained and had coat hooks screwed in
*piece of plywood wrapped in material to cover a dog crate
*planting flowers in an old cooler for the garden(they used Coca~cola) in Country Woman~

Anyway... my brain has been going.

Morelia, I have seen flowers planted in old milk crates--the wooden one with wire dividers--they are so pretty like that.

We found some great stuff over the weekend!!

Our biggest find was a old Singer sewing machine complete with stand, foot pedal and everything!! At first I thought it was just a stand and I was going to use it as a bedside table but when my DH brought it home we discovered the sewing machine. We set it up and it works just fine!! Even the light that is on it works! Inside was the manual for it, an oil can, extra attachments and bobbins! The machine itself needs to be cleaned up and there is a bit of rust on one of the metal plates on it. Other than that, the machine is ready to go! The stand is in need of being refinished because the previous owners used it as a stand and it has water marks and scuff marks all over it but otherwise it is ok.

Then we found a plastic babydoll highchair that turns into a desk and chair. Im keeping that for my DD. In the same pile, there was a ceramic barn cookie jar ( now sitting in my kitchen ), 1 homemade wooden babydoll cradles and a metal folding stool that has a padded top.

While putting this stuff in the garage, we noticed that a neighbor had thrown out wire hanging baskets and hanging window baskets--6 in all--They are in great shape. All that needs to be replaces is the brown "bird's nest-like" lining ( I dont know what that is called). Why would you throw those away???

We also found a door that we are going to use to make an extra table for our yard sale.

So, Ive had a pretty good week!
