Do you think that shows like "Third Watch" cheapen the thoughts and memories of 9/11?

I love to watch shows like Third Watch but I cant help but feel that it is wrong for these shows to use that premise in their story lines. Third Watch is now using 9/11 as an excuse for one of their EMTs "losing it" in his story line. Does anyone else have a problem with this?

Its so scary when some people out there actually believe that what they watch on these shows is the real thing!

I finished watching that show tonight and now I have this weird feeling in my stomach. Strange.....I feel that these shows that arent in any way real, shouldnt use real occurances in their story lines.

Everytime I saw this thread, I would think about it some more.

This is a hard question in some respects.

I have to say that I am "on the fence" on this one.

I, personally, don't like them doing story lines like this one because I feel like they are, in a sense, abusing all of the true victims of the 9/11 horror.

But, at the same time, most Americans have no clue what some of the survivors are still going through and how much then still are suffering from the post traumatic stress! This is a way to make us aware and reminds us that these people still need our prayers.

I haven't seen "Third Watch" in quite a long time. Is the story line to the extreme? Are they not handling it as sensitively as you wish they would?

This is like a double edged sword...........to be handled very delicately!

I agree with the first part of your statement completely.

While I think that a lot of people do tend to place this in the back of their minds, I dont think that they should rely on fake ( for lack of a better word) tv shows to remind them. It also makes me mad to hear someone tell me "this is the way it is because I saw it (on whatever fake show). Yet, if you asked them when the last time was that they sat down and read a newspaper or watched the news, they couldnt tell you.

As far as the story line goes.... "Doc" has been under a lot of pressure leading up to this event. He thought that they were going to close his station down due to the fact that they were told they werent allowed to stay at that station when not on a call. They had to park at different locations outdoors in their vehicles. The story went on from there and ended with him holding some of his coworkers and his new boss hostage. He shot the new boss as a way to get "his message" across to him....on and on.... Now that they have him in custody, they are saying that they think most of his problems stem from stress from 9/11. I think the story line wouldve gone just as well if they wouldve just said that he suffered from stress ---period.

In the end its the mix of reality tv mixed with non-reality tv that really bugs me.

I just wondered how others felt.

I love 3rd watch, and having a brother who is a firefighter/emt I wanted to know what he thought about the show. He loves it too and thinks it is very realistic. One of my favorite shows.
