Guess Kate can't imagine life without all the helpers, meals cooked for them on filming days and all the trips they get to go on, plus the trips she goes on just herself to promote the shows and her book/books.

I would imagine life would soon turn to reality if they didn't get all the help and the money from all the royalities. The kids are cute and it is a show the whole family can watch without fear of something inappropriate.

Just wonder if Jon can "wake up" and realize he is an adult and get over the self pity that he isn't getting all the attention and without the show he would really be in the out zone with trying to supply everything for all those kids. Especially when you have six that will need everything all at the same time as they are growing up; can you imagine school costs?
I don't think that they will be hurting for money any time soon even if they don't continue the show. The kids had college fund set up for them when they were little, right? Didn't someone or some company set up funds for them? I think that I remember seeing that a few years ago.

Yes, Tami, I remember reading that years back too. I don't remember which Co.------ Catlady, I don't think either one of them relaize how lucky they are. A lot of young gus are working 2 jobs and have a wife that works, just to make ends meet. I think they both should have a taste of the real world for a month and see what it's like.............Does anybody know why we never hear about Kates family?? I've often wondred about that. I've never heard them say anything about her family, only Jons......

I read Kate's book about the family. Apparently she had a falling-out with her family years ago so they don't communicate with each other anymore.

Barb, Do you know what the falling out was about? I'm curious.....I couldn't imagine having all those grandchildren and not being a part of their life. I don't understand why they all have never tried to reconcile.

I think one of the reasons they are so popular is that they don't portray life as wonderful all the time. We do forget to be thankful for what we have, argue with one another and hollar at our kids. We find the Duggers a bit to sugery to be real

I have to speak from experience here, I am estranged from my family too, and there are reasons that are a long story, but many reasons. Sometimes it just becomes time when you have to finally take up for yourself and after many therapy sessions I learned that. My parents thought when I became pregnant that my husband and I had totally done the wrong thing, they said kids were just too expensive to even have and they hated it that we were going to have kids. That should have clued me in and many things before that, but you sometimes try to just keep the peace. But like I said the time just finally came when I was able to speak up and lay down the rules and since they couldn't agree with them we parted ways. There was lots of legal issues I had to go through also because of things they had done and tried to cover their wrong doings by using me as the scapegoat to get around what they had done. Luckily I had proof and after being investigated I was found to be telling the authorities the truth so I was cleared. That ended my relationship with my family.

My sister and I keep in contact by email, but that is all as she has my mother living with her so that limits our contact.

So Kate may have a really good reason and it may be well out of her hands to reconcile. Sometimes your family makes it impossible to be a family. I'd be glad to explain more detail, but I don't think here is the proper place to do so. Hope this helps you maybe understand.

I thought Kate said 1 time on the show that her family didn't like that they were doing the tv show. They didn't agree with having the family in that kind of spot light.

I have seen every episode of Jon & Kate & 8, it was so good at the beginning, but unfortunately Kate has let it go to her head. Jon just isn't sure he wants to do another season, but Kate wants to, as she likes the money and the celebrity. The kids are so adorable, except for one of the twins, who I think has serious problems. I really enjoy the new show too, the Hayes are much more down to earth people, who really work together and obviously love each other and the children. They have the added responsibility of a special needs child with cerebal palsy. I think I will enjoy this show. I really love litle people, big world though, and I am a faithful fan of theirs.

barbsyz I'll have to get my hands on the book and read. I watch the show occasionally, I did enjoy when the kids were very young being potty trained

I like the show Table for 12 that came on after the last episode, they seem more down to earth.
