Has anyone else seen the program, "The Dog Whisperer?" It is on the National Geographic channel. A animal behavior expert named Cesar, goes to ppls homes who are having problems with their dogs and teaches the humans how to deal with their pet issues.
I just saw it for the first time a couple of days ago. It is on again tonight. It is very interesting. I am curious as to what others think of this program. It is Dog Whisperer week so it may be on several more times.
I've watched it several times. I think he also has a book or 2 out.
Several of his ideas seem like they would work.
I know I need to be firmer with our dog he minds my dh better than me.
All in all it is an intersting show.

I'll have to admit that he knows his stuff and I haven't read through his Web site like I should. I have watch so many of his programs now. This man has to know not only dog psychology, but human psychology as well.
I too am one of those who spoil her babies. However, I draw the line when they bark to the "Yappy" tune or if they are too aggressive.
I think that if your dog has behavioral problems, it is your fault. My biggies is that I had a car wreck a couple of years ago and Poncho has panic attacks when we travel now. The other is that Jet-Bo is possessive in regards to me. My 3 yr old GK is now old enough to tell Jet-Bo, "No!" or "Stop It," when he snaps at her when she gets close to me. He has never drew blood or hurt the little ones. Right now, I would love for Cesar to tell me how to make Poncho feel better when we travel because we cannot get away from that since I am in school.
I have watched his show many times. I have gotten a few tips that help me and my dog. The one that I haven't yet used was taking him for a walk to get rid of some of his energy. He is outside daily in our fenced in back yard and he runs constantly.
I have tried the psst and clicking my fingers which snaps him from what he is overstressing about. But I can not get him to not jump on my niece or my sister when they come in. Also, I know it is partly my fault because I get over excited seeing him jump on them. I need to be more calm when I try to discipline him. I NEED CESAER!!
He has like 20 dogs in his pack and they are all so well behaved. My DH wants to get another dog from the pound but I won't allow it til this one is trained. I try to use TDW tips but my DH doesn't like to. He lets the dog on the couch with him and even lets him lay on his lap when he is reclining. Our dog is a 87# german shepherd - he is no lap dog.
I love to watch his show and I will be looking for his books at the 1/2 price book store.

I look forward to the books! I would love to have Cesar in my home. My 13 yr old is the only one who gets aggressive and that is only when ppl get near me. That is our fault because my DH thought it was cute when we first got him when he was young and he didn't like my DH kissing me. So, it became a game. Jet-Bo never bites to hurt and when my DH kisses me, Jet-Bo will grrr at him and then play bite him. He is also wagging his tail because he is playing. However, when my GKs come over, Jet-Bo isn't wagging his tail and he does get very upset when the GKs come to hug me. He snaps at them and scares them. I have taught the older GK to get after him and tell him, "No!" The 1 yr old isn't old enough to do that yet. Jet-Bo cannot do the exercise that Cesar recommends because Jet-Bo's knees come out of place.
I tell you, that man works wonders. He got to be an expert on dog psychology and human psychology.
Sorry for the b2b. The National Geographic Channel has the link to his Web site, which also shows the books. I haven't looked at them yet, but I intend to. I am watching him now on television, and he is just amazing.
