Super Nanny

Does anyone watch this?
I am watching an episode tonight with a family of four kids who get treated as teenagers. They are allowed to do whatever, even use Credit Card online!! Sometimes you gotta think this is all just staged! I know our children are far from perfect and my own routine is not strict, but whoa, this one is unreal!!

I've watched parts of a couple of shows but never the whole thing. I dislike misbehavior enough "in person" and just can't tolerate watching it on TV! It just makes me CRANKY

Thumbs up super nanny

We like this show, even my dd who is 5 yrs old. When we see behavior that resembles hers, we point it out and tell her that is how she looks when she does the same thing. Now she will say to us "they are being bad", and it has changed how she behaves. Seeing this has helped her and we have instilled some of super nanny's approach to things. I have, personally, found that this has helped our family to be under less stress, because of better behavior.

My son (9) and I really like this show. I feel so sorry for the parents on the show. As a daycare provider I definately take notes on how super nanny deals with certain situations. I think I needed her for a daycare boy a couple months ago. lol I had one somehow climbing out of the highchair (with the tray as tight as it could be) and standing on the tray jumping off. WOW this timeout really was working. lol Thank goodness he has gone back to his decent behavior as much as a 2 year old can.

I like to watch it at times, but always am amazed at the degree to which many parents allow their children to behave as they do. The very idea that kids hit the parents, swear at them, and scream, and carry on with their brattyness just maddens me no end. My daughter once said something snippy, and insulting to me in front of a new girl in the neighborhood, and in a flash I automatically slapped her face so hard, and fast I didn't know I was about to do it. I then asked the girl to go home, because Carol was NOT going out, and I had things for her to do. All I had asked her to do before going out in the beginning was to wash the lunch dishes. She just went out the door, laughing with the girl, and I politely called her back. She pouted, and was nasty, so I tried to get her to laugh by chucking her under the chin, and singinging "Smile, darn you, smile. Her comeback was, "Why don't you close your mouth, and hide your broken tooth?" NO WAY would I take that from one of my kids, and she never did it again. In later years we laughed about it, but by then, she had had a "difficult" child of her own, so learned she wouldn't take it, either. The parents are supposed to be in charge; not the children, and the sooner the kids learn that, the better. You are the parent, and shouldn't try to be on their level thinking you are being good to them. They don't look at it that way.

I am with Val, I love this show!! I have been around people who allow thier kids to kick them, spit on them, you name it. It made me ill. Sometimes I think a good old fashioned spanking would work wonders! In real life and on supper nanny.
