It's Me again, Margaret (remember that Ray Stevens song?)

I tried doing a reply with quote to Rose's question about Noah's Ark and never could get it to let me type so I just read through and decided to reply here at the bottom to everything I could remember, which isn't much. LOL!

Noah's Ark is in Locust Grove, about a 20-30 minute drive from me. I've never been there but we are planning a field trip in April. Everyone who has told me about it loved it. I'm not sure though, with little ones still in car seats if I'd want to drive that far. I'll ask around and see what I can find out about taking kids that small. I know they love it but with the driving and all added into the mix, you may want to wait. I do know they have a picnic pavilion so you can take a lunch. It's also not far from the Tanger Outlet down here. hee hee!

Stacey, I sent you a pm but almost couldn't because it tried the same trick about not letting me type. Anyway, it has my info. One of the best pieces of advice I can give is to check out www.hslda.org for the Homeschool Laws in the states you'll be living in.

Congrats on the move to Hawaii. The only thing I really remember hearing from others who have lived there was that it's more expensive. Go figure. I'd like to hide in a suitcase myself and spend some time there.

The girls have been sharing my Sis-in-Laws "creeping crud" as I call it. A horrible virus with a bad cough and all. They've now shared it with me only I've also run fever with it. So, I'll be seeing the doctor Wednesday morning. They said I could come in today but I'd have to sit and wait to be worked in. I have better things to do with my time - like stay in my bed and try to feel better. LOL!

It's great to see so many posting again.

Mouse, I'm sorry about the death. I pray you have safe travels.

I am so tired, I can't remember what everyone else posted about.

Oh, Joyce, I'll try to find time to gather some books to send your way. I'll let you know when I actually get around to doing that. LOL! It's been crazy here since Christmas.

Skylar got her pump hooked up on January 18th. We've done well but having trouble following all the little rules they really wanted us to for the first couple of weeks. It would help to set her drip rates but she had the crud and didn't eat well, etc. We go back on the 16th for them to do a little more training for stuff like Pizza and pasta which tend to peak later than the insulin because of the protein and fat in it. We'll learn to do a wave bolus or something like that. We do all this at the Emory Children's Center.

The brownies and lemonade were good. However, with the cold, I'd like some hot chocolate please.

Well, I better head to bed. Need to get up and out the door tomorrow sort of early for me.

Thanks for the link, Martie. Seems like the requirements for homeschooling in Hawaii are easy - YAY! for me!!!

Stacey, I'm glad it was helpful. That's the first site I visit anytime Terry discusses moving out of state. I've never checked the laws for Hawaii. I'd suggest trying to locate a local support group for when you get there. They will be the best ones to help you with any reporting or whatever that you'll need to keep up with. They also plan great classes, fieldtrips, etc. and give the kids and mom some social time. At least that has been my experience here with groups.

Well, I saw the doctor this morning. I have been diagnosed with flu and laryngitis. I believe the flu is pretty much over now since I've not run fever or very little since Monday night. I never had the aches, etc. Just coughing and sore throat. Thankfully it's not strep though. I'm supposed to rest a lot and not talk above a whisper for several days so my vocal cords can heal. I think they are damaged from all the coughing and throat clearing.

Well, I think I'm going back to bed. Have a great evening!!

Mornin' everyone,

Kids are out of school today due to icey road conditions. At least we found out last night so I didn't have to set the alarm this morning. Got to sleep late and that felt great. We are suppose to get some snow over the weekend but, I'll believe it when I see it!

The trip to Cherokee is off for now. The weekend we wanted to go the hotels are booked due to a concert they are having at one of the casinos. Oh well, we'll go another time.

Joyce, glad the pain meds are helping. Can't believe they haven't given you any before now.

Martie, good to hear from you. Sorry your family has been sick. We have been lucky here so far. Looks like the flu is in our area though. We have been filling lots of RX's for Tamiflu.

Stacey, Hawaii, Wow is all I can say! Hope it is the best move ever for you and your family.

Mouse, wishing you a safe trip home from TX. Check in with us as soon as you get home, OK?

Rosebud, Ditzy, Pag, and everyone. Hope you are all well.

More later,
Kelly

My Goodness! I have been so busy I havn't had time to come sit on the porch! Sounds like it is time for me to make some more cookies!
Anyway, I have been helping my mom to declutter their house. What I thought would be a one week project is now going on three...........well, we are only working a few days a week, so, not really, but still!!
Oh my goodness, the things they have accumalated over the years and my dad being a total packrat does not help!! We have actually got rid of quite a bit though, cleaning out drawers and closets, etc.
So just dropping by this afternoon for a little hello! Hug and love to all,

peace, train

Trainlady: Great job getting that stuff cleaned out. I'm a packrat too but we're slowly cleaning out around here too. Last night I emptied 5 boxes in the basement and marked another to be thrown away and one that has linens (from when our house burned 8 years ago!!) that need to be washed again and can be used. Most of those boxes were bagged for the American Kidney Fund since they will pick up from my door. We keep an inventory and my dh uses "It's Deductible" software to figure out how much we can deduct off taxes each year. He was shocked the first year we did this at how much things really are worth. LOL!

I still have no voice - as in NONE! I think he liked it at first - or at least the idea of it. However, he's tired of me not being able to do more than barely whisper now. Also, it seems he may be beginning to get the flu himself. I'm NOT looking forward to that. He's a huge baby when he's sick. LOL!

The kids seem to be feeling mostly better. There is still a bit of lingering coughs but not nearly as much as a few days ago. I really hope we are all about over this crud and Terry isn't getting it so we can just be done with it.

We saw a bit of snow flurries on our way to lunch today. They sure were pretty but I was really hoping they would stick around so we could cancel all activities tomorrow. I hate postponing things because I'm sick. We moved our homeschool Valentine party to Thursday due to the other leader also being under the weather. Hope that doesn't mess many up. I've contacted my co-leader for TOPS to let her know I won't be there. The only other thing will be Savannah's guitar lesson and I can have Sarah drive her to that. HA! I should be able to stay home tomorrow. hee hee!

No big plans for Valentine's here. Too much other stuff going on.

Well, I guess I'll go for now. Hope to see more posts soon and thanks for the cookies Trainlady! They were yummy!

Good morning, y'all, cold and sunny and windy here, no sign of any more snow for right now, sigh. I did see some flurries yesterday, but nothing much, just enough that I can say I saw snow in 2006, lol.

I don't remember who asked, but no, the Christmas decorations aren't really still up, just the string of colored lights on the sorta kinda arch between the living room and kitchen. They were on last night, in fact...I really, really like them, and intend to keep them up from now on, lol.

We're not doing anything for Valentine's Day, either, and I have to work, so it's just another day.

Martie, I'm so sorry you've been so sick, and hope you don't come down with it again. All men are babies when they're sick, for the most part. E. is pretty good, he just sits around, or goes to bed, doesn't whine or moan or expect any special care, but he's about the only one I've ever seen who is that good, lol.

Mouse, I'm sorry to hear about the death of Jerry's grandmother. Like Pag says, grandmothers are very special!

Rose, the only homemade pizza I ever made was with Bisquick, years and years ago. It was ok, I liked it but my kids didn't, so I never bothered again. Last night I made a ground turkey stew, just like beef stew but with the turkey, and it turned out really well. I heated up some frozen dinner rolls to go with it, and ate like a pig, lol.

Stacey, I'm really looking forward to seeing your jewelry. Glad the homeschooling sounded easy in Hawaii. If you're going to homeschool, easy is good, lol.

Pag, how are your knees feeling? How is the move coming along? Pain in the butt, right? Right!!!! I can't imagine having to move out of here. Even tho it's teeny tiny, it's cram-packed full of all sorts of stuff, and then of course there's all the stuff out on the carport. Whew! Wore me out just thinking about it, lol.

Train, thanks for the cookies...next time I want chocolate chip, ok? Without the calories, of course!!! I've lost a total of 32 pounds, and want to keep on losing, got about 70 more to go, I think. Good luck with decluttering your mom's house, and after you finish there, you can come here, ok?

Ditzy, hope the motel fills up with lots of customers for you. The leg just keeps getting better all the time, and the last measurements were .05X.05cms, which is not quite half the size of my little finger nail. The elastic hosiery seems to be helping a lot. I go back to the wound clinic on the 23rd of this month, and the nurse last Wednesday felt that it would probably be the last time. Yeeeehaw!!!!!

Kelly, have you re-booked your trip to Cherokee yet? I'm so sorry you had to cancel it. And, I am eating my heart out over your snow, sigh. I really would like to see about 4 inches, I think. Talked to my dad up in Maine yesterday, and he was hunkering down to ride out a major blizzard...New York City got 26 inches, which broke their previous record for snow in one day, set way back in 1947. Ok, so that's a tad too much for me, lol.

Did I leave anybody out? Not my intention to do so, I assure you. Sharona, Elizabeth, Kimmyo, Navy, Doris?!?!?!? Hello??? You guys ok? Surviving the cold and the rain and the snow ok? God bless.

WOW! I did not realize that it has been over a month since I last posted!!!!

Things have been pretty busy here. I hope that it slows down soon. Unfortunately, softball season starts in 6 weeks so I know things will not slow down anytime soon.

Happy Valentine's Day everyone.

Mornin' all,

Just wanted to stop by and wish everyone a Happy Valentines Day! No big plans for us either. DH has to work and I have scouts so, just another day here. Did get two beautiful cards from DH and DS this morning though.

Kids are out of school again today. Not a drop of snow here but in the mountains that are in our school district they have about 5 inches. So, our kids get out too! DH and DS went up there over the weekend. There was enough for a little sledding and a snowball fight.

Thinking of going to Boone, NC next weekend. There are a few ski resorts that sound good. I'm not interested in skiing but they have tubing that looks like fun. I took a vacation day for Mon and that will give me a 4 day weekend since I'm off on Tues. anyway. Kids are out of school for Presidents Day.

Hope everyone is warm and well. Love 'ya!

Kelly

Happy Valentines Day to all the nice ladies on the Ga porch!

Dh is grilling steak for us for dinner tonight out in the freezing cold Ohio weather! Kids and I will be making sweet potato fries for daddy!

Hope everyone is doing well!
