I am from the First State

I live in Wilmington, Delaware. Anyone else from the 1st State?

Being American history challenged can I ask why Delaware is called the first state? Or am I asking the very obvious LOL

Kathy, Delaware was the first state to ratify our nation's Constitution, basically making it the first one to acknowledge the government.

You can see the whole list in date order here.

The original 13 colonies were colonies of Britain and the borderlines of those colonies were kept for the 13 first states of the Union.

Ohhh I know colonies from Briton as that is what we are also LOL
Our first state was New South Wales and we went from there.
