Sharona, if I ever get to your neck of the woods I would love to rent one of your cabins!!!
What a fun business you have started!!!
Patti, dad's doing good, a sore throat and tired, but to be expected. (Dad had a bronchoscopy yesterday) The doc saw something on his lungs, says it does NOT look like cancer but did the bronch to make sure. The radiologist says it does so there is a discrepancy there........
His emphasema has been worse, he is tired a lot.
Yea, mom's just been so busy with taking care of dad, she doens't get on the computer much. It is a 'different " feeling watching my parents age. I can't explain it but I have to remember they do things a little slower and slwow down myself with them.........
Sounds like you are doing bettrer and better everyday, Patti. Give Judy a big hug for me and tell her I said thank you for taking such good care of my friend!!
Elizabeth, is this the week for your DILs surgery? Even though she doens't know me from anyone, I will be thinking of her. Thanks for you kind words on being "way beyond trained for a clerical position." You are so sweet and that made me feel good. I have the people skills but I do not have computer (microsoft word) skills. Those would be good to know AND I cannot type without looking at the keyboard. I will find something, I am sure. Actually, even waiting tables is a possibilty again now as I can now lift!!!!
Hi all. How has it been going? Sorry I have been gone so long, no excuse but I have been reading what has been going on with all ya'll.
Kelly I am so sorry to hear that your M-I-L is in so much pain. I know with my F-I-L he would have days where he felt some better then have really bad days. It was really hard for him towards the end and they kept him heavily medicated on pain meds. So I do understand where you are coming from and it is hard to watch someone you love suffer.
Train thank you so much for all your funny e-mails and all your encouraging and kind words. You are such a friend. And yes I will be going back to school in the fall quarter, probably working during the day (I hope) and going to school in the evening.
I think since the Georgia III thread has gotten so big that it is really hard for Joyce to get on now with dial-up. So if ya'll wanted you could ask them to start a Georgia IV and Joyce could get back on again.
ditzy ya'll have done so well at saving for that truck, I really admire your hard work and patience in waiting for it. How is your granddaughter doing? Lacy is doing better and even looking for a job this summer.
Pag glad you are improving daily and doing your exercises, I know it is tough to make yourself do them. No one is crazy about exercise but you have extra reasons to follow the doctors orders so you can go kicking around again with your friends.
Our lifes are changing a lot over here. Jerry got word the other day that even thought he was told he was safe for a year he is being laid off June 30th, he has already received the paperwork and they have taken all his work away so he is really not working at all right now but being paid anyway. They are laying off around 15,000.00 around the country, they call it restructuring. Anyway we are trying not to worry but to trust the Lord instead. We are in a really good church now and have been going since Easter and we really love it and the people there. Not being in church for nearly 20 years God is really working in our lives right now and changing us. Michael got saved a few weeks ago and will be baptisted Sunday night. We will soon be putting the house on the market (I know we have only been here a year and yes I love it but.....) starting off somewhere else Jerry will probably only make about half of what he is making now and even with me working it will not be enough to stay in this house. The boys are both talking about sharing an apartment soon so we really won't need such a big house anyway and like I say God has a plan for us, we just have to pray until we find out what it is. We have enough put back to last about a year before we have to start cutting into savings or anything so that is the good part and IBM will send Jerry to school to study for anything he wants to learn so he is thinking about getting out of computers after 26 years and doing house inspections. Another friend of his that got laid off 2 years ago started doing this and is doing fairly well and that way he will be working for himself eventually. Well I will get on the porch when I can but with getting use to working a job after not working for 26 years and then going to school at night (trying to finish up and get an accounting degree) I won't have much time.
Elizabeth glad you are spending some quality time with the GS, that will mean so much to him as he gets older and looks back on these fun times for him.
martie are ya'll going home this summer? We are going to take 10 days around the first of July after the lay-off is official and head to Texas and then get busy when we get back.
Sharon your cabins look really nice, maybe next summer things will be settled enough for us that we can make a visit up there.
Ya'll have a great summer.
hugs,
mouse

Hi all,
Thought I would jump on here real quick, to see how ev1 is doing.
Mouse....so sorry to hear that Jerry is being laid off..Praying real hard for him for God to give him the job that He wants him to have.
Your faith is strong and don't let that waver. Things will look up....you'll see.
What a bummer to have to give up your house and do all that packing and moving again. Just when you thought you were just getting settled in. Glad to hear Lacy is doing so well. With her working it will be easier on you and Jerry...maybe her expenses won't be so hard on you as much...IE...clothes shoes, etc....you get the pic.
You and Jerry will almost become empty nesters with the boys moving out...It is really hard at first ...letting go...but then you will start to feel just a little guilty when you have the house to yourselves....NOT!...lol
What is this about a job and school? Did I miss that post?...lol...Whatever you do you will succeed and do well. I wish you all the best for you and Jerry and the kids.
Oh wow! Where do I start with Anna?(gd) About a couple months ago...my ds was at our house borrowing some tools and he got a phone call and to make a long story short..Anna came up missing...Well she was found by my dil and she was ok..Thats when me and dh had a good long discussion with him...its was a real long conversation..too long for here so at one point I suggested to him to put Anna in daycare a couple days a week so she could interact with other kids instead of being around mama and daddy all the time...he is making good enough money to do this...Apparently he must have laid it all out on the table to her (we have no idea what he said to her but, she has made a major turnaround and has kept up the house. Its not perfect but she is giving an effort. She still needs a lot of work but she is moving toward improving. She puts Anna in Daycare..5 days a week...I know she sends her there a lot(all day) but at least she is safe, fed, and cared for and given attention along with having fun with other kids.
IMO...I believe my ds threatened to leave her and take Anna if she didn't start being better with the house. Like I said it was a major turnaround. I hope and pray she continues this course because she is a whole different person...
Sorry ladies this is so long...everyone have a great summer and drop a line here every now and then
Hugs and love
Debbie

Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the places and moments we see that take our breath away.
Hi all - been trying to catch up with work and such.
Mouse, I'm so sorry Jerry is being laid off. But y'all have been very wise to put money aside for this eventuality. With you working, now, it will help y'all not dig into that "cushion" as fast.
Empty nest? Love it!! It's great for us!
DIL#1 had to have surgery postponed - she got a cold and it went to pneumonia!! She's recovering now, and will see the doc next week about her lungs. If they are clear, surgery will be sometime about 2-3 weeks from then. We are "keeping our fingers crossed!" I'll let y'all know when it will be as soon as I know.
Ditzy - it's good to hear that your DIL seems to be trying to turn over a new leaf. Your DS will have to keep on her for a while about it. Anna is much better off at daycare, I suspect, than at home with her mother all day.
Patti - keep on exercising!! Knee replacement is very good these days, and the special exercise regimens they give make it even better and a faster recovery than there used to be. I want you to let us know when you finally can "kick up your heels!"
Gotta go work on 2 more cases for Monday!! But it has really slacked off recently. I'm looking forward to being able to go to the pool without feeling guilty!
Cheerio!
Elizabeth

Hello GA Porch Gang, I am doing my best Elizabeth just hope it is good enough. If it was not so darn hot out there I had wanted to go down front steps and walk around to back yard patio maybe re-pot some plants etc. OR just sit there and enjoy the birds/squirrels and depending on the time see a deer or two. BUT way too hot.
I miss getting to church have not been now since Mother's Day but God knows why I am not there.
Joyce wants to be back here but her puter or something will not let her. She is working today.
More later friends sure wish the A/C guy would get here grrrr! And we can not get hold of him his voice mail is FULL

I think since the Georgia III thread has gotten so big that it is really hard for Joyce to get on now with dial-up. So if ya'll wanted you could ask them to start a Georgia IV and Joyce could get back on again.

We can start our own GA IV thread, but we'll need to get a moderator to close this thread for us. GA II was only 12 pages long when we started GA III, and this one is now 60 pages long!! If shorter threads will help Joyce get on board, again, I'm all for it!
I'll start it, if you wish. And after everyone has subscribed to the new thread, we can ask one of the moderators to close this one.
Whadaya think? Or do you?
Cheerio!

Fine with me Elizabeth, I miss Joyce not posting. Tell you daughter in law to take care of herself, that pneumonia is bad stuff.
ditzy that was really good news to hear about your daughter in law, sounds like you are even getting along with her better now that she is trying to change her ways and I agree with Elizabeth, Anna probably is better off right now in daycare.
later,
mouse
