I found this pin at Party City on my day off this week, and will wear it on my apron at work on St. Pat's Day, along with my new green beads w/shamrock, AND...my lovely new tiara, lol!!!! The tiara is silver diamondcut plastic, with a big green heart and the Irish claddagh on it. For only 99˘, I couldn't refuse, lol. I am also drinking my coffee out of a cup with a little red-headed leprechaun on it. So, I'm getting a head start on celebrating being Irish, you see. We talked about going to the parade in downtown Atlanta, on the 18th, but, it's a work day, plus there are over 125,000 other people expected down there, soooooooooo, I don't think we'll go, lol. Since I'm fasting from beef, I won't do the corned beef and cabbage, but the day before St. Pat's Day, my day off, I think I'll make an Irish soda bread, and still have cabbage, potatoes, and carrots. And if I can find some, I'd like to have lamb chops...or maybe salmon...both of those are Irish, and the veggies are, too. Anyone else going to do anything exciting for St. Pat's Day? Anyone going to any of the parades around? Drink some green beer?!?!?!?

Today is ten days into my Lenten fast from sweets, chocolate, beef, and pork, and I'm doing well with it. So far, lol! Only once have I come close to saying the heck with it...pretty good for me, I think. My regular co-worker and her cousin are also fasting, from red meat and pork, so she and I encourage each other at work. The hardest part for her, I think, is not being able to eat bacon...she loves it, almost as much as I love chocolate, lol.

Had two nice days off this week, weather held up pretty good until yesterday evening, by which time it didn't matter to me, lol. Wednesday my IRL friend and I walked some on the Silver Comet Trail, I made it a whole 3/10 of a mile...with a break, lol. Then we went to Party City, and then to the Sports Bar for lunch...veggie wrap and onion sticks, excellent!!! Yesterday, E. and I just hung out here, walked around the yard some...actually think I did another 3/10 of a mile, and so does he. E. found our first 4-leaf clovers for 2006, too.

And back to work today...it's another gorgous day, too. Hope y'all have a great weekend. God bless.

Hi everyone,

Well I guess spring is here. We have had some beautiful weather the past few days. Got outside yesterday and cleaned up my car really good, inside and out. It certainly needed it. Just been goofing off today and doing some inside work. DH and my brother are down at the river clearing some dead trees that are in the way at the boat ramp. They took a cooler of beer so, who knows when they'll be back!

Joyce...I will be working on St. Patty's Day too. I have bought a pin to wear on my lab coat but no tiara. Only because I haven't seen one though! No plans for us on St. Patty's Day. My mothers family is Irish and we have lots of red-heads in our family, my mom included. DH said he saw something on TV that said all red haired people are decendents of Ireland. Didn't know that! My mom and her sister and her niece went to Ireland a few years ago. They loved it.

Alex is off for spring break starting the week of the 20th. DH is off work. Have tossed the idea around of sneaking off to FL for a few days with my brother and his family but haven't decided yet. Money being the biggest factor!!

Here is an Irish Blessing for all my GA friends!
Irish words of encouragement...Irish Marriage BlessingMay God be with you and bless you.
May you see your children's children.
May you be poor in misfortunes
and rich in blessings.
May you know nothing but happiness
from this day forward.
An Old Irish Blessing
May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
and rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.
A Gaelic Christening BlessingDearest Father in Heaven,
Bless this child and bless this day
Of new beginnings.
Smile upon this child
And surround this child, Lord,
With the soft mantle of your love.
Teach this child to follow in your footsteps,
And to live life in the ways of
Love, faith, hope and charity.
A Wish for a FriendWishing you a rainbow
For sunlight after showers—
Miles and miles of Irish smiles
For golden happy hours—
Shamrocks at your doorway
For luck and laughter too,
And a host of friends that never ends
Each day your whole life through!

Tried to only post the one A Wish for a Friend but goofed up! LOL Hope you enjoy all of these.

Hugs,
Kelly O'Rogers!!

hello ladies...just jumped on here to post a little and see whats going on.
Kellygirl ...thank you so much for the warm Irish blessings I wish you many many warm blessing to you and your family.
I also heard that red-heads are direct decendants of Ireland. I am also a red head and so are my children and granddaughter. My mom told me years ago that my nationalnality is French, Irish, and German.
What part of Fla. are you wanting to go to. and where are you now?...I hope you get to go.
I hope everyone enjoys their week..
Joyce...sure would like to see a pic of you with your tiarra.
Till the next time
Debbie

I, too am a natural redhead. In fact, I am the only one in my family! Too weird!!

Anyway, I only have a coule of minutes...

I had 2 moles and one possible skin cancer removed Thursday. The 2 moles were on my head and they only itch a little. The possible skin cancer was on the side of my behind and that one is driving me nuts - hurts, itches, is bruised and generally miserable! Anyway, going on this Thurs to have the sutures removed.

My surgery is scheduled for the 28th of this month. Geez, just in time to recover from the icky mole removal!

ANyway, have a nice one ladies!!!

Hi Ladies! do you ever just KNOW you posted but you can't find it any where?? anyway, here I am. Staying busy and enjoying life.

My daughter reminded me a few days ago of a day trip we made to Savanah a few yrs ago just before St. Patrick's day and they already had the green in the fountains. It was weird looking.

Do ya'll suppose Kelly O'Rogers is Irish? LOL. thanks for posting the blessing. I used to have to say the whole thing to one of my patient's before she would take her meds for me.

Cheers to all of you! Stacey, hope you recover quickly.

That is the part of my Irish heritage I wish I could get my hands on. LOL!

I have two nephews with red hair. No clue where THAT came from but we are of Irish decent somewhere back there on my daddy's side. I'm sure if I asked they could tell me which of my great grandpa's it was. They've been working on the geneology for several years now. My maiden name is Cantley and my grandmother on that side was Callaway.

It's been busy here still, again, or whatever. Main things this week are cleaning house (it never ends!) and school work. I think we are going straight through the summer at this rate.

Today the girls have book clubs. They enjoy that. The only problem is that Skylar and I were 2 chapters from finishing the book and it fell from the top bunk where Sandi finished reading it. It slid down the wall and under the bottom bunk. Wouldn't be a problem except their bunk beds are really heavy with huge drawers under. There is no way to get to the book without taking the beds apart. Oh well. I think we'll try later this week to pull the book out so we can finish it. She read enough to get by today.

Well, I need to go get my stuff together for our TOPS meeting today. I've GOT to do better at getting in my water and exercise for the next 3 weeks of this contest before it ends. I started off really good but then I hit a slump and gained back 3 pounds I had lost. UGH!

Ya'll have a beautiful day!

Martie, I'll take the gold, too, lol. Good luck with the weight loss thing. I'm sort of on a 'plateau' now, doesn't seem like I can lose any more, even tho I've got at least another 65-70# to go, sigh. So, I can emphathize with what you're going thru now.

Ditzy, sorry, but I don't think there will be any pictures of the tiara. Just take my word for it...I'm gorgous with it on...snicker!!!!!

Kelly, thank you for all those wonderful blessings. I love the Irish blessings. Do you have a Party City, or something similar close by? That's where my 99˘ tiara came from...high finance going on here, lol.

Stacey, having surgery on your butt has to truly be a royal pain, bless your heart. I sure hope you recover from it quickly.

Rose, I'm glad you're enjoying your retirement, but I do want you to know that I am green with envy over it, sigh. I am really and truly looking forward to being able to retire...looks like I might have another 12 years to go, tho. Dang!

Speaking of "Dang!" has anyone heard from the Mouse? Wonder how their house hunting is going, eh? And Pag? Have you moved yet? Are you going to really and truly enjoy your new home? How is Elizabeth? I bet she's busy. Sharona, Linnea, Navy, Kim, where are all y'all, anyway?

Both my parents were redheads, and when I was younger, so was I. Now my hair is more of a dark brown with a LITTLE gray in it, but the grey isn't bad at all. I am a conglomerate: Danish, Irish, Scotch, and English, with some Native American and German thrown in there somewhere...or at least that's what I was told when i was young. I have NO idea where the German came from, and don't really know for sure about the NA, either.

Sunday was such a pretty day here, went up into the 80's!!!! I had to work from 10am-2pm, but that still gave me plenty of time to sit out on the carport. E. has dug me a new flower bed in front, to the left of the front door, and I have NO idea yet what I'm going to set in there, but I guess I'd better come up with something, as I asked him to do it for me, lol. It's supposed to be kinda chilly on my days off this week, so that gives me at least another week to figure this out, right? Might be a good idea to just plan on staying inside and doing some spring cleaning, don't y'all think? Nah, not a good idea at all, lol!!!!

Guess that's about it for tonight, hope everybody is resting well, and has a good rest of the week!!!! God bless.

Wonder where we could find one of these? I don't know anyone that couldn't use some. LOL! Well, I know some people who could use it a lot less than we could. I'll share with you Joyce if I find it.

Well, I am back on the way down but didn't lose what I gained last week yet. I'm hoping to get to walk today. Didn't have time yesterday. Terry has a couple of things for me to do but I hope to still have time. Do any of you watch "The Biggest Loser" on NBC? I love that show. It really motivates me. However, I think I'd HAVE to have Bob as a trainer. Jillian would make me cry. LOL!

Well, off to do more chores around here. We're hoping to clean out the basement enough to finish a family room and 2 bedrooms. Looks like we're gonna stay put for at least a couple more years. The girls really need to be able to spread out some.

It's beautiful and just cool enough today so enjoy it!!

Martie, I agree with you, I'd have to have Bob, too, but only because I'd end up knocking Jillian up side her head before the week was over - that in your face motivation only makes me want to rebel and be defiant (my defiancy disorder/ADHD working there)!

Joyce, I have some stuff I need to get in the mail to you, but I can't find my address list from the porch so could you email or PM me with your snail mail addy. Pretty please?

Let's see, Keith is trying to get his motorcycle (it's a sazuki cruiser that looks alot like a harley) bought and between the dealership and the dadgum bank there is a mess of confusion. He's getting angry and frankly I am about over the whole thing. I just want him to get the darn thing so that I have the van full time and we don't have to play juggle the schedule. Especially with all the appointments the kids and I have lately.

WARNING!!!
I WILL BE EXPLAINING WHAT MY UPCOMING SURGERY WILL ENTAIL!!!
WARNING TMI AHEAD!!!

Ok, someone, I think Martie, asked about a uvulectomy. Well, yes technically the uvula does serve a purpose. It acts as a closer to the openings from nasal cavities when swallowing. It is also integral when speaking Hebrew, German & Farsi (Arabic Languages). Fortunately, you can adjust to swallowing without it and I don't speak Hebrew nor Farsi, and my German is poor at best. SOOoo, I should do fine without it for those purposes. The reason they are removing my tonsils is that I am walking around with constant infection and low grade sore throat and my tonsils are producing tonsil stones (do not read if you have a weak stomach) at a maddening rate. My ENT is also removing my uvula at the same time as the tonsil removal and deviated septum realignment in order to stop my snoring and subsequent sleep apnea. He is also "shaving" down some boney protrusions in my nose - known as turbinates (you need these but mine are waaaayyyy messed up). Oh and he discovered that I have a bone spurr from my nasal bone that is most likely causing a lot of my headaches because of its location. So, as those of you who actuall read this can see, I am going to be in a tremendous amount of pain. I have been informed that I must not smoke at all after surgery (as if I could after all that sawing and whacking to my nose!), so obviously, I will be quitting which is good because hubby and I wanted to quit before moving to Hawaii anyway. I am just really bummed that after all that pain, agony and general whininess that I'll be going through my nose job won't be evident on the outside. Talk about getting the short end of the scalpel on that one, huh?

Now, onto the rest of my health issues. On Thursday I will find out the pathology on the stuff I had removed last week. I am so hoping all is well and I won't have to have anything else removed for awhile. I do have tons more moles and some suspicious spots that look like the one that wasn't an obvious mole, so I am not getting my hopes too high on that score. I have to go and get a baseline mammogram because I have been having weird stuff happening. Plus, I have to see my GYN and possibly have to have some minor surgery there (I personally want all the plumbing gone I just have so many darned problems with it all). Then there will be a trip north of Raleigh to see an orthopedic specialist about my scoliosis and the degeneration of my spine.

MORAL OF THE STORY -- NEVER EVER PUT OFF FOR TOMORROW WHAT CAN BE DONE TODAY OR YOU WILL BECOME A LAB RAT AND GO THROUGH ENOURMOUS AMOUNTS OF PAIN!!!

Ladies, please keep me in your thoughts - I will be needing all the prayers and good vibes I can get.

TTFN!

Hi everyone,
Stacey,,hope all will go well with you on your surgeries.. I'm not trying to be funny but will there be anything left working in your body after all this?. I will be praying for you and ask God to send his mighty healing hands of power over you.
I am so glad to hear you are gonna quit smoking...good for you, I did it 3 yrs ago and I am so glad I did. I feel so much better and breathe deeper..only one problem when you quit....Food TASTE TOO GOOD..SHOULD BE AGAINST THE LAW..it got away from me and made me gain weight. I would rather not be smoking though...so I guess I traded one crutch for another..but now I try to walk more.
Bad news here for me....yesterday coming home from work my car started smoking and as soon as I pulled off the road it quit on me.
come to find out I blew a hole in my radiator. I had to wait for about an hour for my hubby to come tow me. He works with a guy who has a truck to pull my car home(12 miles) now we have to get a valve cover gasket, radiator timing belt and an egr sensor.and hope and pray the all the valves are ok. Plus my hubby is sick with a high fever and cough and sore throat. I have to wait until my car gets fixed before I can get back to work. We only have the one car ..I drop dh off in the morning b4 I go to work which is 35 miles awaY..other than that...I am just peachy...and how was your week?
