Oh my! All those others leave such an after taste and Splenda doesn't do that to me. LOL! I guess it is what you are used to.

Dianne, you really need to watch that BS reading. 383 is terribly high!! I'd be giving Skylar 2 units of Humalog if her number was that high. LOL! And she is sensitive to insulin. Thankfully yesterday we kept her numbers pretty well level all day. It's difficult to do some days.

Well, I got the call to go pick Sandi up so I'll write more later!

Martie, I know 383 is very high. but it was way higher than that. So 383 looks good to me! This morning it was 345 before breakfast and any pills. I'm trying to do this with diet and excerise because my doctor has been talking insulin, and I just can't do that. My body will respond to diet and excerise if I just do it. I've been diabetic almost 20 years, and it's harder to get motivated now to keep going. Insulin shots should do it!!

We went shopping and I bought some Lean Cuisine meals for lunche. I'll add a tossed salad, and sugar free fruit. Today's lunch was WW pizza..made with sugar free jar spaghetti sauce and 1 ounce Colby cheese melted over a whole wheat bagel...cut in 1/2 of course! I toast it under the broiler. I put about 1 tablesp spaghetti sauce on each half with 1/2 oz cheese on top.
It's very good.

Yes, I weighed less than I thought. My first thought was "oh no, these scales are wrong!"

Type II seems more difficult to control to me. My best friend and my father-in-law have Type II and they are supposed to be controlling it with meds and diet/exercise. My friend does a much better job than my FIL though.

One thing they were teaching us about Type I, which I know works with either, are the carbohydrates. It was interesting the people who thought Skylar would never be able to eat sugar. That's not right though. She can eat it - just not a lot. But what affects her more are the carbs from bread, potatoes, rice, juice, etc.

I also know that Type I is not quite as difficult on the person diagnosed because they are usually so much younger when this happens than someone with Type II who is set in their ways. It's hard to change for diabetes, just like it is for losing weight.

If you need me to remind you about shots to keep you on the straight and narrow, just let me know!! I know my friend and FIL are supposed to keep their numbers between 80 and 120 consistently. If either of them get over 150, it's serious and going over 120 is when the other organs in your body are affected - eyes, liver, kidneys, etc. It's not fun and it's a ton of hard work.

Well, I need to find my water cup AGAIN. I keep losing it.

Sounds like everyone is doing great. Diane...your WW pizza sounds yummy! I have been eating the Lean Cuisine meals alot too. I really like them. Will just take some getting use to the small portions.

I am trying to eat between 1000 and 1200 caloires per day. I just write everything down and add it all up. It really isn't too hard. Some days are better than others. Some days I'm not hungry at all and other days I am.

I am doing OK with the water. I have been drinking some everyday. Since I didn't drink any before that is an improvement. I stopped by the gym and walked on the treadmill tonight. 1.3 miles.

Hugs,
Kelly

Kelly, I am trying to keep my calories to 1000/1200, also. I am not going to obsess over it though. I'm also writing down what I eat, and recording my sugar level, and when I weigh (once a week only) I write that down, too.

I try to write down any thoughts, or anything that inspires me, too. This group is inspiring to me. Thanks.

Dianne,

I am inspired by this thread too. I would never have had the courage to post my weight on here without the support of my GA friends. Thanks Sharona for starting this thread!

I do find it a great help to be able to come to this thread and talk about my diet and exercise. Everyone in the pharmacy is on a diet too so that really helps.

Kelly

My blood sugar this morning was 321. It's coming down....but way too slow. I'm thinking I need to get up and walk more. We walked last night, but every neighbor (seemed like) on the street was out, and the moon was beautiful, so my dh thought he should stop and talk to everyone! Made walking very difficult. I wanted to walk fast, and that was difficult to do, too.

The food part so far isn't that big a challenge. I made sure yesterday to buy celery for snacks (since that's what I enjoy), and today our oldest daughter said I can have up to 20 pretzels for a snack, so dh is buying me pretzels.

It's slow, but it's going!

I'm glad your number is coming down. Being able to walk quickly would definitely help more. Maybe tell the neighbors you need to make a round for your health and then a round for visiting? Careful with the pretzels. They are still a starch but you do get many more of those in a serving than chips. A great snack is an apple with peanut butter or cheese. It makes the carbs burn much slower due to the protein and so it doesn't tend to raise your BS number very quickly. Just an idea.

Back to cleaning...

I am joining in on your fun! I am concentrating on getting healthy not dieting. Makes me feel better. I too have this tummy problem, six female surgeries didn't halp at all. I weighed 150 today, I am 5'6" tall and small boned. I need to lose 25-30 pounds. I had lost down to 140 but I am having problems with my thyroid so on goes the weight. Hopefully the thyroid will be working better in the next few weeks. I did my pilates tape Wed and am so proud of myself. Aug will make two years since my last surgery. I had two surgeries seven months apart and it really has been hard. Between the surgeries I couldn't even stand up straight. It has been a long hard road but I am begining to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
