I live in Springdale. I always liked it until the last 5 years. We have grown SOOOOO much. And have had an influx of ethnic groups moving into our town and area. I'm not prejudice...it's just that this is very different for us and has changed things A LOT! And when they came...they didn't come a little at a time...thousands decended at once!

I am living in NE Arkansas -- after being uprooted from Louisiana -- carried northward to the cold midwest -- Iowa (did I say FRIGID???? -50 degree winters until 3 years ago!) -- and then downrooted to Blytheville, AR! Here I am!
It was hard to get used to such a small town -- your only source of variety in shopping is Wal-Mart! But....Memphis and Jonesboro are about the same distance from me, so there is hope!
The heat here is not as bad as Louisiana. At least there's a breeze!
I am thinking seriously about homeschooling -- am watching the school system closely. Any comments on that?
What's it like where you are? I am anxious to check out the western side of the State. I hear it is really beautiful.
Welcome to Arkansas! I was born in Harrison, but have lived in Springdale for 35 years. We have some land and would love to move out on it...it's in rural Madison County. But, working and the long commute doesn't work for us now. Everyone says that NW Arkansas is beautiful...and I guess it is...guess I just take it for granted. You'll have to drive over and explore some time.
I do admire people who successfully homeschool their kids. I don't think that I am qualified to do it. I think that if I homeschooled that it would be important to make sure they bond/make some friends outside of home...and have a social life. Good luck!
