Whenever my mother in law comes over, my 8 year old daughter is constantly holding her hand and rubbing her arms and saying "Grandma your skin is so soft!" My MIL says that she uses jergens lotion every morning after her shower, from neck to toe. When I get out of the shower I don't lotion myself because I'm already hot from the steam LOL and don't want more moisture on me. But then I forget for the rest of the day and never do it. Do you lotion everyday? Is it part of your ritual, and when?
I used Oil of Olay on my face for many years but now use Mary Kay cleanser and Time Wise lotion. I don't know if I notice a difference between the two. Yes, after every shower I either "lotion up" (with whatever good lotion I find on sale) or while I'm still wet, I put baby oil on my skin and then dry off. If I don't do one of those two things, I'm one big flake. I have extremely dry skin. I also like to buy lotions that match my body spray from Bath and Body Works.
I live in the Sonoran Desert (Tucson, AZ, USA) Except for our winter rainy season and summer monsoon season -- each about six weeks long -- our air is very dry.
In winter it can get so dry indoors your clothes stick to you with static electricity and your hair stands up all over your head unless you keep a humidifier going. In summer it's dry indoors from air-conditioning, and outside it's dry and VERY hot (100+ degrees). Summer or winter the change between indoor and outdoor conditions can give your skin a real workout. And you need sun protection all year round too.
I've lotioned all over every day for the 50 years I've lived here. The last 20 years or so I've scrubbed all over with a loofah sponge, too. Keeps dead skin cells from building up under all that lotion. I'm almost 61 and people still ask the secret of my young-looking skin after all these years in the desert -- it's lotion, lotion, lotion!
I use Ponds anti-aging lotion and it works incredibly well. Before that I used to use Oil of Olay on my face. I use oil of olay on my body. And I always lotion, but maybe it is more of a habit, one of my phobias, rather than a necessity. I just love to have soft skin so I have always used lotion.
I use lotion on my legs and hands every day. I use a light
moisturizer on my face. I'm cautious when putting things on my skin since it's absorbed into the body and the body has to do something with it. Ever think about what happens after putting it on yur skin? Petroleum products are NOT healthy. I'd do some label reading. I made the mistake of using some baby lotion on my son. (yes baby lotion I thought if would be OK it's for babies right?) My son broke out into a terrible rash and I had to take him to the Dr. They told me it was the ingred. in the lotion.
I personally use Shaklee's Enfuselle line. The shower gel and body lotion all over and then their skin care line for the face. Enfuselle means to feed the skin and Shaklee does it from Mother Natures bounty. I don't have to worry about what I'm putting on my skin. I know it's safe. Oh, and I use the baby line on my kids, and haven't had anymore problems.
Good luck! Robin
Have been using body lotion as far back as I can remember. The one I use now is St. Ives body lotion with Aloe Leaf. I put it on right after my shower. Here in florida you are in the sun & heat all the time. Everyone always says my skin looks good for my age. No dry scaley skin for me. Notice the difference as soon as I put it on. Skin has a healthy glow. Sueanne
I lotion head to toe after every shower; face with L'Oreal moisturizer, body with Suave. I've tried several different lotions, and the Suave just feels better on my skin. No waxy after-feel, or not powdery dry, just sinks right in, greaseless, and makes me feel soft! I also use Body Shop's Peppermint Foot Lotion on my feet. It's a little thicker, heavier, than regular lotion, and the pepermint just feels so good and cool. I highly recommend it.
I use Jergens Skin Firming lotion everyday as soon as I get out of the shower. It really does firm up those places that have stretched out from being pregnant. Also, if you apply lotion to your skin as soon as you dry off, when your skin is still a little damp, your lotion locks in the moisture on your skin and the moisture plus the lotion really rehydrates your skin. If you have sensitive skin, I wouldn't use body lotion for your face. I use Oil of Olay for sensitive skin on my face. Hope this help. Have a wonderful day!
I love the orginial Keri lotion for my hands and body. I also use Avon's Skin so soft original bath oil. I put it in a spray bottle and spray it on after a shower and rub into my legs and body.
For my face I love ponds.
I am still looking for a good moisturizing conditioner for my hair. It is dry and frizzy.
