Hi,
In reagrds to your hair... Try the ProSante line by Shaklee. It's brand new but I've heard very good things about it. You can customize it to target problems (if you have any) to your hair and scalp. It also help normal hair stay in great shape. Robin
I used to get those splits in my cuticles that HURT LIKE CRAZY in the winter when it was really dry. My daughter who lives in a similar climate suggested Curel lotion. I used it last winter and had NO split cuticles all winter.
I also use Oil of Olay on my face and Curel on any other skin that sees the sun, especially arms and backs of hands.
Have you heard anything about sun screen not being as helpful as we have always been told? I heard a mention of it on TV one day but missed the actual story.
Hello.
I have had difficult skin all my life. Both dry, dry skin & ecema (I'm shocked that I don't know how to spell that!). I use the Curel all over most of the time. I have started using the Mary Kay time wise cleanser & lotion on my face, but think I probably need the heavier lotion. I do like the soft feeling the cleanser gives.

My daughter has eczema also, very badly, and she uses Cetaphil lotion, which you can get at Wal-Mart. There may even be an Equate (WM) brand of it out by now. The Cetaphil is pretty expensive, but the Equate would be better, and it's the only thing she can use that won't break her out.
She uses Cetaphil as a lotion? I used to have to use that as a soap. I had lots more trouble when I lived in a more humid climate. I don't think it would be a thick enough lotion for me. I might try it though. And thanks for the correct spelling of eczema. I knew my spelling didn't look right.

I use a baby oil gel on my skin before drying after bathing or showering. My cuticles love it and I don't get winter itchy skin when I use it every day.
On my face I use Neutrogena products. But I always put on sunblock (SPF 36 or higher) right after putting on moisturizer.
I live in a high desert area in Idaho and there is usually lots of sun in the summer.
To MKS... I get exema too. We have a wood burner and it dries us all out. That along with my extremely dry skin makes me one big flake. I use Mary Kay cleanser and Time Wise too, but in the winter after I put on the Time Wise I follow with Extra Emollient Night Cream (also from Mary Kay). It's thick but it works. My skin just soaks it in by morning but I can honestly say I did not have a bit of exema on my face last winter! I don't use it in the summer as I don't need it then but come winter..... It has a shelf life of 3 years so even if I do only use it in the winter it won't go bad. Give it a try. I think you'll like it.
I can't forget to tell you that I use a Buff Puff (the kind without cleanser in it) to get all the dry skin off.
Yes, she uses the lotion and the soap, and any other product they have. The dermatologist first prescribed Eucerin cream, but she found it to be too thick; it just kind of sat on her skin and didn't penetrate and seemed to make her breakouts worse. So he suggested the Cetaphil and she's been using it ever since with great results. She uses a Neutrogena moisturizer on her face, I think.
My mother (almost 57 years old) has that same wonderfully soft skin. Some of my most comforting memories include the softness of her skin. Since her life was not nearly as physically demanding as mine seems to be, I try to overcompensate by religiously moisturizing my entire body every single day. Even if I wake up late, I NEVER skip on this part of my ritual! I just hate dry itchy skin. I know that I don't drink nearly enough water,so I have to rely on lotions alone. The downside of this is that I spend a ton of money on lotions. I just really want quality stuff if I take this time each day. My absolute favorite has been Garden Botanica, but since are now only mail order, it's very inconvenient since I never use credit cards. I've tried most everything from the drug stores and can't find anything that compares. Bath and Body Works has shae butter that is really good. But I honestly go through quite a bit, and it is about $10.00 for about 8 oz. Anyone have any good suggestions?
Chris ... Oh, yes. I love that extra emollient night cream. One big problem is I have never gotten in to that routine of washing my face every morning & night. I use that for my hands also when they are really chapped. My sister in law has even said it is great for diaper rash. I'll have to remember to combine it with the moisturizer. And I love to use the body scrub from time to time. The skin feels wonderfull afterwards. Sometimes it is worth paying the extra. (No I don't sell it.)
Triadha ... That Eucerin made my skin worse too. Makes me cringe just to think about it.
