I know that my Dad would get rough patches on one elbow and spots on his hand. I seem to get that too and it will just be one elbow or a knuckle. What he used and got passed to me was Bag Balm. It can be found at drug stores or pet stores as it was made for cow udders but has been found to really help humans and other pets.

I have some recipes coming today from some of my soap group members. Since they make their livelihood from these I can't publish it on here but will email the folks who need it. One is a sugar scrub, they said you need to exfoliate the skin first then use the healing lotion.

When I go shopping today I'll get some Eucerin. I have a coupon for $1.00 off anything in Health & Beauty so I'll use it there....then I will try a scrub to exfoliate and do the lotion tonight. Hope it works!
a simple exfolient like baby soap and sugar or something like sudocream, thats my miracle cream, works wonders on all sorts of spots, sore patches, babies bums, ladies bits, kids scratches and scrapes, excema etc...... do you have it there?
I use the same DPM cream I got from the podiatrist on my elbows. Minty smelling and really powerful stuff. Inexpensive too. $16 a tube is better than the Rx stuff I had at $37 a tube.
Whiten grey elbows by putting them in lemons after you squeeze the juice out.

Sugar Scrub:
1 1/4 c. sugar (I use a combination)
1 c. light oil (sweet almond, frac. coconut, etc,)
Mix to consistency of wet sand. To use: scoop some out of jar and into small container. Apply to dry areas using a circular motion. Allow to set for a minute; rinse and pat dry. The sugar will exfoliate and the oil will absorb and soften.
As far as lotion goes, during the summer months I would just advise infusing calendula, chamomile and maybe some lavender in a non-greasy, light oil (like sesame). Add a bit of carrot seed eo and/or lavender eo. The carrot seed would be my first choice. Advise them not to apply heavily, but rather as needed. That way one won't have that "greasy feeling" that sometimes come with using lotions in the summer.
This recipe is from one of my fellow group members, eo is essential oil. I saw some eo's at Meijers today. I generally don't use them because they are so expensive.

I have been using grapeseed oil. For my face and my body and I can't beleive how great my skin feels. Grapeseed is a carrier oil you can buy it where you buy massage oils.

Bluebird is right, that is a nice oil. I use it as part of the ingredients in my new and improved lip balm recipe. Now this one I can tell you to get at:
or Sam's Club sells it in big containers. The girls at work buy it in that way and share, they use it for salad vinagarettes.
I'm not sure if the quality is the same at Sam's Club but hopefully some of these tips will help.
Anyone who needs a small amount of Shea Butter to try just let me know as I have that on hand along with Ground Apricot Kernel seed if you'd like to make a exfoliator.

You could always try rubbing Crisco shortening into your elbows. Podiatrists recommend Crisco and a pair of new white socks at bed time for dry rough feet.
