Ruth, this year it's 5 years that I've been a single mom and in that time my son has turned 21 and my daughters are 16, 12 and 9 now. All are doing fantastic, by far better than they ever were when I was with their father. I'm convinced my ex has some kind of mental issue, I've thought for many years, longer than I've been divorced, that he's bi-polar but, he would never go to be evaluated, he thinks he's fine. My kids don't ask to see their dad, he sees them about once every 3 months and then he drives from Chicago to So. IL, spends one day here, spends the night at a hotel, gets up on the next day takes them, maybe, to breakfast then leaves again. The decree says 1 weekend a month, he's simply not interested. His loss, truly his loss, they are great kids.

It's probably better that your little one doesn't have to be subjected to that although sad that she won't know her dad at the same time.

Is it worth it? Absolutely! Life has never been better! I have met the most amazing man, kind, loving, sweet. My life was great before I met him, it's only got better since.

Lisa

I applaud you, Lisa. My ex has some kind of mental issue--probably schizophrenia--but he won't be evaluated either. I have a wonderful friend who is 6 months here and 6 months in England, and my daughter sees him as her dad. So it is all right. Thank you for the kind words!
