Fried Apples

ewriggs posted this recipe in What’s for Dinner April 2007:
Fried Apples

2-3 tart apples, cored and sliced into 8 pieces each. (Leave skin on)
3/4 c dark brown sugar
1/2 stick margarine or butter

Melt margarine or butter in a skillet.
Slice each eighth apple piece into bite-sized pieces and place in a mixing bowl. Add the brown sugar and stir, from bottom, until all pieces are well covered with the sugar. (I use the Splenda brown sugar mix and it's wonderful.)
When butter / margarine is melted and sizzling, add the apples and scrape any remaining brown sugar into the skillet.
Using a spatula, turn the apples occasionally until they are slightly crusty and softened.
Serve! Really yummy!

Ajrsmom has awarded a blue ribbon to ewiggs for this recipe.

Congrats ewiggs. These do sound good. I am going to have to try this.

Thanks Tami for testing this recipe.

This is a delicious recipe!

I've made it twice so far and my husband loves the apples!!

Tonight I made Brown Sugar Apple Topped Cinnamon Cupcakes using my version of this recipe. Click on the above link to see pics and the recipe.

Thanks ewriggs!!

This is definitely a Blue Ribbon winner!

Thanks for posting this! I'm making it for dessert tonight - maybe over vanilla ice cream.

My dh ended up eating the leftovers last night with just a spoon. He's already asking me to make them again.

This will come in handy in the coming fall months.

Ohhhh, I've got to make the fried apples. I love to go to Cracker Barrel just for the apples.
