Christmas party ideas

HELP! If anyone has any ideas, it would be greatly appreciated!!

Due to inclement weather, our council had to cancel the Girl Scout Snowflake Ball (a rather fancy dance affair for the girls). The girls are now planning to wear their beautiful dresses to our troop Christmas party next week. Does anyone have any inexpensive ideas to make this party a very elegant party for the girls? Especially any activity ideas?? We've come up with a couple, but nothing definite yet. Any thoughts??

Some things we do at our Cub Scout Christmas party:

-a Christmas caroling station. Print lyric sheets and have a radio/CD player so the girls can follow along.

-an ornament-making station. Use painted popsicle sticks and adult-supervised glue to make Christmas stars. Or you can take pipe cleaners and shape them into stars with no glue. Attach a ribbon and voila, ornament.

-Cookie-decoration station. Canned frosting and some "upgraded" sprinkles- like decorating sugar and gilded silver or gold edible balls would snazz things up a little. Adult supervision and making the girls eat the cookies at the station will keep dresses messes down.

-Christmas bingo. Go to http://www.dltk-cards.com/bingo/bingo1.asp and print up some black-and-white cards. A few volunteers with markers and glitter glue can make the cards fancy. Use wrapped Hershey's kisses or other holiday candy for the bingo markers.

That's what hits me off the top of my head... if I think of more I'll post them.

How about making bouquets for each girls and having them walk down a "runway" to show off their gowns. Have someone taking pictures of each girl and make sure that they each get a copy of their picture.

Could you set up a tea party for the girls? You could serve little tea sandwiches and then top it off with cookie decorating as mentioned by Catwoman. (I love all of Catwoman's ideas!!)

Thanks so much for the ideas!!! I incorporated quite a few of them. And the girls LOVED the runway!! We made a "red carpet" out of red plastic table covering (the kind on a roll). We also used it to cover our tables, but I couldn't believe how much they enjoyed "walking the carpet!" I think we could have done nothing but that and they would have been happy. Took lots of pics and we'll definitely make sure they get copies. We even taught them some simple rules of etiquette and showed them how to make a simple toast (with sparkling grape juice, of course!)
