Spring Fever!!

I am soooo ready for spring, mainly so we can start camping again!! Anyone else? Any trips planned?
We have a few trips planned for spring... Turkey Run State Park in Indiana, Van Buren State Park in Michigan, and somewhere in Wisconsin - I can't remember where right now ()

I can't wait!!!

Happy St. Patty's Day!

I live in Indiana, too. We have been looking at rental cabins. Here's the first choice:

My hubby can fish, and I can birdwatch, and we both can just get away, from it all.

My SIL and her family live in NW IN too. We have been to Turkey Run with them. What a great place. Hope you enjoy your spring and summer camping.
I live in IA and had hoped to take a trip to the Black Hills this summer, but having some scheduling problems. Hope we get them worked out.

I usually post over on camping because we have a pop up camper, but I checked here to see if we can also be an RVer.

I think we will get our camper back from repairs in about two weeks and how excited I am to make that first trip to the local park and here all those night sounds by the lake and the early morning chatter of the birds and wildlife.

We bought a new trailer last Saturday. It's sooo nice. We've always tent camped so this is going to be like a 5-star hotel compared to a tent. I can't wait until we can go camping. We were thinking of going over X-mas break but it's looking like we won't get to now. My dh is off work for the week between X-mas & NY's Day but he's going in a couple of days anyway and he has to work at his 2nd job some also. Bummer! We usually go to Turkey Run. I grew up in Crawfordsville which is really close to Turkey Run. We also went to Mounds State Park last summer. It's a great park, but there are train tracks and an airport right beside the campground that we didn't know about. Planes, trains, & automobiles...not a very peaceful camping experience. The park makes up for it though. If anyone has any good camping places in/around Indiana let me know. We're hoping to try some new places this spring/summer.

Your new trailer sounds so wonderful. I know how anxious you must be to do some traveling with it. Many years ago we began with a tent, and a Higgins trailer~~one that folded up, and I was thrilled to have that. Later we bought a trailer we all could use, and I took three kids out in state parks in Michigan
for five weeks. In those days parks were free, and you could stay for four weeks before having to move. We had such a good time. When our time was up we moved to another park closer to home for the fifth week, and by that time I was a little glad to go home. But we went every year until we bought some land in northern Michigan where we built a cottage to spend summers in. Love the north woods, and fresh air. I hope you have many happy travels in coming years.

This winter has not been to bad in our area of New York, if of course you are not into snow to begin with. This year we are in an apartment but when I had my house and all of the gardens during the winter I would go to the library and take out books about flowers and plants then in a journal write down ideas I had for planting my gardens in the spring. Also to get thru winter a little easier we have tropical night. Especially on those really cold ,blustery night we get out all of the vacation videos disney and places sent to us , I have a video from a trip to maui and a taping of one of the home and family show episodes when they went to the sheriton maui. My daughter and i get out the fancy glasses and umbrellas for the drinks pour some pop into them and let the videos take us away to someplace warm for a while. Make plans in a diary or journal of all of the family trips, day trips etc you hope to do when the weather gets nice again . Let yourself daydream about spring and summer and it doesnt seem so far away. If you have younger kids spread out a blanket and have a picnic in the living room , let the kids set up a tent with a blanket and two chairs I am sure they feel shut it as well and it is just something fun to do while you patiently wait for spring to come.

Also I surround myself with things that are tropical , lots of plants . we have two exotic parakeets and a ****atiel so we always have the songs of birds and it sounds like spring. Maybe get some bird feeders and watch the birds come to it.I have things around that remind me of tropical places so when I am in certain rooms I feel cozy in them, they remind me of warm summer days....A room that is blue with white trim reminds us of a summer day or a cottage maybe the blue of the ocean.white walls then looking at white snow make you feel trapped and like winter will never end .looking back at summer pics you have taken brings back warm memories, the sound of water like the water running in a fountain is nice and if you like fish small aquariums are nice as well....I think it is surrounding yourself with life that helps ,winter is so cold and you dont see much life as you do in the spring . If you have it in your house maybe it will be a nice distraction to get you thru till the real thing comes and you can be back outside going for walks and breathing fresh air.
