Question Where are all the mountian people?

Surely there are a few mountain people on this site.

I was actually born and raised in the midwest, but I've had the pleasure of living in the mountains for a couple years and I miss it soo much. I am now in florida and don't like it at all.

Where in the mountains?

dustyrose

Where in the mountains did you live? I agree about Florida, it's aa great destination, but after growing up in the midwest, I love to call the San Miguel Mountain range home!

What do you miss most?

I'm right here! I was born and raised in Colorado and it is my absolutely favorite state! The people there are great and I think it's a great place to grow up. I haven't been to any of the other mountain states like Wyoming or the Dakotas, but I really want to go . . .

Well, the only parts of Wyoming that I have seen have been pretty lame mountain wise, but South Dakota has some neat ones. The area called "the Needles" is really neat, it has huge boulders everywhere that are needle like in shape, the Black Hills are just beautiful. But, I am quite partial to my own mountains... I live right along the foothills... 5 miles or so from them, it is really beautiful.

Welcome RockiesGirl

It's nice to have another fellow Coloradoan! Crazy weather we've been having these last few days of summer! Are you in an area being hit hard with rain?
What types of things do you like to do in CO? I was born and raised in the midwest, but am sooooo happy to call the Western Slopes home! We hike and camp a lot. What else is there to do ?
I love CO!

I miss hiking and camping, we just have not gotten out there since our daughter was born... that's been three years! We need to go again! We do go whitewater rafting at least once a year down the Poudre, and that is a lot of fun.

The rain out here has been occasionally heavy, but not nearly as damaging as it is only an hour or so away in Denver... yuck!

I wish we had taken a break from camping, but no, isn't it fun to camp with an 8 month old who eats everything he gets in his hands . . . dirt, rocks, sticks, even a worm that his brother gave him! Haha. I honestly wouldn't have it any other way, lots of great memories created this summer, although the baby thinks that come the weekend, he ought to just climb in the Kelty carrier and get comfy
My 3 yr old dd did two 5 milers this summer. We are so proud of her.
We haven't been rafting since our first was born. That is the drawback of having no family in the area, I suppose. My hubby is going to take our oldest next summer, but it looks like it'll be a few years before I get to go again
Glad to hear you're not getting pounded by rain. We are going to Denver next weekend for the CU v CState game. I hope the weather is decent because we really want to go to the zoo!

We love the zoo! Too bad there isn't one closer to us over here, oh well., gives us something to do while dear hubby is working in Denver!
We have been to Ocean Journey, but moving from NE where we had the Omaha zoo which has an aquarium that is oh so much larger than Ocean Journey (and it is included in your rather inexpensive zoo entrance fee). We had planned a whole day at Ocean Journey while dear hubby covered a Broncos game. Since it doesn't take very long to get through the aquarium, we ended up spending most of our day at the Children's Museum. Thank goodness there was something close since I was pregnant with a 2 year old in tow!
