I collected 30 gallons of rain water today, and yes I'm wet. LOL I know have 60 gallons of rain water saved back for the garden and flowers. I did use 3 2 liter bottles, a juice bottle and a gallon vinegar bottle that had been emptied in the past week or so for the first time holding rain water.

I remember as a kid using the pill bottles and some beads in a craft project melting them in the oven.

I haven't done anything out of the ordinary recycling wise. I re-use as much as I can. This past year I was a Girl Scout leader and I saved all of my scoops from my Tide powder, the girls filled them with soil, planted flower seeds and we tied a ribbon on the handle for their mom's for Mother's Day! I just can't see them being thrown away.

When I was a girl scout leader we use to collect the aluminum cans and take them to a center for money. This was our largest funraiser every year. We would make around $300 a year from doing this.

The boys when they were in boyscouts would help the community by collecting newspaper and cardboard curbside the 1st Saturday of every month. The boys made a few $ off of this and it helped the community. My dh said they did this when he was in scouts. He was in the same troop as the boys were.

Today I have saved 3 mop buckets of dishwater and rinse water. I normally don't use quite that much but had alot of dishes and extra things that I used to make soup beans... colander, large bowl for soaking the beans and the the bowl and lid to the food processor. I will use that water for flushing the toilet today. I need to get with my sister who is saving her gallon milk jugs for me so I can utitlize more of the rain water we're getting today.. can not leave any water standing for mosquitoes to nest in.
